Overall Australia has a very strict censorship thing going with games and movies, afaik. Yes, Germany is also quite strict with specific things, but it's still not as bad as it is down under.

I just remember Gears of War being banned in Germany which I found super odd....

And also it really affected Xbox360 sales there in its early days since it was one of the stand-out exclusives

Germany bans certain images for sure, prob some games. I know for sure a certain album cover is banned there. Australia has a notorious censor board for sure, stuff comes out super late too. too lazy to look atm but def bunch of dumb shit banned there or rated super high for no reason. I have to think it comes from western (american) media stereotypes? like legit was a lot of shows of people going to germany for the kink for example. so i think just repeated exposure and jokes made on numerous shows makes it become a full on stereotype
