My issue isn't the sound it's what they discuss on 90 percent of the songs some songs I feel like I need to go shower after hearing the lyrics. I can say that about any genre but hip hop is the worst I have found.

I also struggle with it because of my job. The kids I work with look up to most of these people along with other idiots like the Krapdadhians. These teens think it's cool to play with and brandish drugs and guns and discuss shooting and killing people. I had a 13 year old tell me it's fine that she was playing with a pistol which she pointed at her neighbor to shoot her because it's 2022. Like every kid I get thinks they are going to be a rap star and every song they think they are writing is demeaning to women, wants to kill people with guns and violence, and degrades everyone by name calling. I have to help these kids change their thoughts about themselves and what they have going on before I send them home but it's hard when 90 percent go back to same world they were removed from and all they talk about is guns, drugs, and gangs.

Again I love the hip hop sound it's the content I struggle with on most songs.

I mean I listen to these songs and I don’t think it’s cool to play with guns or demean women. I don’t really think you can blame the art. It’s up to parents to teach their kids right from wrong. You can’t blame art for the way people act.

Mine isn’t what you’d call a traditional Christmas song, but I think it’s fun.

I am not blaming the medium. I am saying I find it a very good parallel to how they act. Like these kids are the bad kids you went to school with that disappeared for like a year some stopped going to school.

My issue is that they mention these rappers in all of their daily conversations. They try to act and emulate what they see all the time because their home lives suck for alot of them. They dislike 69 because he is a snitch even though he was universally loved in there earlier. It's a very odd thing and yes I understand what you are getting at by saying don't blame the music.

I don't I blame their parents or lack of parents. The issue is that for some the music and others have become their parents.

I'm not blaming the medium only at all fwiw or hating on the music, but it's just a fact that it perpetuates negative stereotypes and glorifies crime, misogyny and homophobia in a lot of cases and in the mainstream. that's not to say all rap is like this of course, but ya I mean I think most hip hop heads would agree on that duality that it's amazing music with some unforeseen social consequences

much like most metal heads would yield that it has a white supremacist side to it in its history and it sucks

Nah I agree with you. I remember when 69 got called a snitch and kids were saying they hated him because of it as if personally affected them in any way and they were a part of it. Sucks it’s like that.
