Scarecrow was killed by Killer Croc in Asylum so I highly doubt he will be in the next one. Since Joker is dead, I see Two-Face being the main boss in the next game since he wasn't in City very much and the inmates kept talking about how he was going to be back very soon.... Penguin won't do much, Killer Croc will be more involved, Bane might be a boss, Clayface is dead, Riddler will be in it for sure and will play a huge part in the game, I hope.

Scarecrow's fate is still totally open, and yeah Hush and Azrael have opened the door for a sequel.

Adding onto that Harley Quinn pregnancy test easter egg, at the very end of the closing credits (long fucking credits, too) Harley sings a nursery rhyme, presumably to the child: "Hush little baby don't say a word, momma's gonna kill you you the whole damn world."

I just can't imagine what they could do with the next game unless it was based in Gotham or something. Arkham City will be closed, Arkham Island has been sold and all the prisoners sent to Blackgate prison, so I can't see any alternative. The trick is, I wouldn't have a clue what they could call that game.

Scarecrow isn't confirmed dead, his mini-bio in AC states that nobody knows whether he drowned, was eaten by Croc, or lived and is in hiding. Even Batman can't confirm Crane's whereabouts. But the easter egg on the boat suggests Scarecrow is still operating somehow.

I thought he got eaten but if he is still alive somehow, I'd be happy to see him get involved in the next game.

I want him back for the next game too, but I'm glad they left him out of Arkham City. As much as I loved the Scarecrow sequences in AA, AC would just be a repeat of that. I'm glad they're potentially making it so Scarecrow is taking time away in hiding to come up with something new and more dangerous.

Check out the easter egg on the boat in Arkham City if you haven't already, the one in the waters before the industrial district (on the boat get out your cryptograhpic sequencer, password CITYOF TERROR, its a very hard combination to hit). Inside the boat is a dead, human test subject, lots of jars containing cockroaches, and a manifest that details Jonathan Crane's request for animal test subjects.

That's as much you can dig up at this point regarding Scarecrow and the next game.

Also near the end, during the bit where Hugo Strange is bombing the place. On a rooftop of a building across from Maxie Zues' club, you can see two bodies in detective mode. They wear the basic red-orange Arkham inmate jumpsuit, but they are also wearing very crude designs of Scarecrow masks. This suggests Scarecrow has henchmen operating, probably brainwashed. This is the only time you'll see any inmate wearing this.

Other stuff is probably still yet to be discovered, but Arkham City is the kind of game that has loads of easter eggs and sequel clues if you look hard enough.

Just adding on in regards to the prospect of other characters returning... Pretty much anyone who isn't dead is a possibility. Hell thsi is the superhero genre so (even though they don't often do this in Batman) even someone dead can be brought back by some bullshit, but most likely not. So I guess you can only rule out Joker, Talia and Strange. I'd say Ra's Al Ghul would just be resurrected if he is to return.

Talia has to be ressurected don't forget she is the mother of Batman's son Damian.

The games aren't set that far in Batman's continuity and there hasn't been mention of Bruce having a family. Hell, Joker even taunted Batman over the com, saying he doesn't think Bats has anyone "to go home to every morning".

Talia could easily come back though. I'm hoping to see more Nightwing and Robin in the next game, personally.

I'm more hoping for Jason Todd to be a main boss and for whoever said Clayface was killed no he wasn't he was just frozen and went into hiding.

He exploded, therefore he could possibly be dead. You do know he CAN die right? If he isn't, I would be happy to see him in the next game, I just wish Joker wasn't dead.... loved that guy in the games.

John DiMaggio does a darker version of The Joker. Takes some getting used to but I think he'd be the first choice should they ever need Joker again.

As long as there is a Joker in the new game, I would be happy. They really need to have more action between rivals though, it didn't happen much in Arkham City which was disappointed IMO. Only thing I saw was Penguin kidnapped Freeze.

Gotten 52% of the trophies currently collecting Riddler Trophies so I can get the hostages so far I have only gotten 2 which is annoying and I have 160 trophies so obviously its going to take me a while yet before I completely finish the game, seeing Azreal was cool along with Hush I hope both are in the next game along with Robin and Nightwing being playable characters in the main storyline.

The only other thing in regards to the next game because there will be most definately a third game who will the main villain be now that the Joker is dead and its not like we didn't see him fall somewhere he literally died for all to see so unless Ra's brings him back with the lazarus pit which I don't think will affect him much since Joker is already Insane and then there is Talia as well what will her role be in the next game as well.

Main villian could be anyone. I don't think a single person out there predicted Hugo Strange would be this game's main villian.

Going off the hints they've dropped though, I would say that Hush, Azrael (Michael Lane) and Harley Quinn are the most likely. Easter eggs suggest Scarecrow is still operating as well.
