As most of you know i work in a field where there really is not alot of glory or appreciation for what is done, for those that do not know. I work as a counselor in a group home for teens that have issues at home and with the law.

I work with females which is challenging in itself because they are all drama queens, but honestly i love what i do and rhe fact that i feel like i am helping them out to better themselves. Now whether they do that or not is on them.

The point of all of this rambling is recently i have been frustrated with things because I feel like the whole huge corporation that i work for is looking at their bottom line versus what we can really do to help theses kids. Dont get me wrong we have alot of programs that help them and r5hey can get help with these programs but i feel as if the whole system we have is failing them.

Right now i am looking into possibly starting my own group home for these kids and run it the way i want. My issue is i have no idea how to get the funding and get everything going.

Here is my concept:

1. I want it set up like a camp.
2. I want like 30 acres of land to get started with this thing.
3. I want a ropes course and a paintball balloon thing as well as a garden, a meditation area, a pond, and a section to raise some animals along with a hiking trail. ---- these things are there to help relieve stress and some to learn new skills to help fhem deal with things.

4. Schooling would be done at the camp i nstead of bussing them to an alternative school.

5. They all need to learn how work together with things and learn how to overcome together with adversities in life.

I am thinking of going to my church to get some backing for this but i will also need grants and other things to get started. I know it will take at least 9 months to year to get a non profit license for what i am planning on doing which doesnt include what o would need for the other licenses i would have to acquire to start this undertaking.

Anyone with any suggestions please let me know.

I'd love to help but I don't have a great knowledge of US finance & regulations, so whereas that'd usually be my strong point, I got nothing.

I will say that it sounds like a great idea, and best of luck with it.

First of all, it's great you enjoy your work cause a lot of people don't.

A suggestion I have is you could set aside an account for money going toward the project and throw some money in there every X number of days and maybe get small donations from friends. You could make your kid sing on the street as well

That sounds like a pretty tall order, but like anything it most certainly isn't impossible.

One thing you'll need is the right employees, certainly you'll be the executive to run the entire place by yourself would be impossible. Make sure you have employees who are not only qualified but who you feel have the best interest in sharing your vision. 30 acres is large area but with one qualified person assisting you in running everything I'm sure it sounds like it could be a success.

I really like this idea Chunger, good on ya.

This sounds like an awesome thing to do Chung.

Try looking at Kickstarter or Gofundme, these are websites where you can get people to donate money towards something. They could really help.
