- The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards won’t be back at the next set of WWE NXT tapings and they aren’t going to be offered a contract.

Apparently Triple H didn’t want t sign them after their tryout because of their size. The feeling is they are loaded with guys who aren’t big that can go so the mentality coming out of these tryout camps is that WWE is looking for guys who can headline WrestleMania in five or ten years.

A lot of people went to bat for Richards and Edwards with the feeling they should get a deal and several people pushed for them to go straight to the main roster. It’s said Triple H made the decision not to sign them after the NXT tapings where they lost to The Ascension.

Smart decision overall. The guys could work, but so can guys like Graves and Neville already. Looking at the roster right now in NXT, I would say Mojo is that guy they are looking for if he doesn't burn out

Doesn't bother me. They only would have been fun to watch as a tag team anyway, plus fuck Davey Richards.

Disappointing as I am a fan, and these guys could have been an asset to their tag division. Oh well, I can understand the thinking behind this.

Wow. I don't care who they are, not being hired due to your size if fucked up. Its already a scripted sport, or the fuck cares if they aren't 7 feet tall? More "little" wrestlers should start perusing UFC and MMA. At least there they actually care about the smaller people.

So if WWE aren't picking them up, and Davey's said he's heading to Orlando repeatedly, then it looks like he & Eddie will end up in TNA.

Paying Casuals care short of amazing charisma (hbk), uniqueness (Rey), or a B brand all together (Eddie).

It's going to be said a thousand times but when Vince said the attraction wasn't bought to stockholders, he's talking legit suspension of disbelief which not every small guy brings to a table regardless of how well they can flip or how perfect a snap suplex comes off

Likely true. Makes sense for tna too. No need to pay AJ big money when his type is readily had on the Indy scene by these guys.

Maybe if Davey didn't wrestle like he was 6'5 or some shit it wouldn't have been as noticeable that he was so short.

Can somebody inform Tapout UFC and MMA are the same thing and saying them both is redundant, like saying Pro-wrestling and WWE.

Also, tiny midget wrestlers are going that route, which is why WWE are recruiting football players, bodybuilders other collegiate athletes.

Triple H is smart not hiring those two, suplexy, Benoit clones are not wanted, they don't want to flip the bill for neck surgeries like they had to do in the early 00s.

Stuff like this gets me angry sometimes. Once the guys like Cena, Orton, Batista are all done, in maybe 5-10 years, who do they have? Not everyone is 250 lbs+ and/or movie stars. They need guys like the Wolves (Who can work better than almost everyone they have already) to help build for the future. Not saying Davey or Eddie would be headlining Manias once those guys leave. But they need talent that can keep the product fresh and people that the fans can actually get behind. Sad to see WWE make one of the stupidest decisions by passing up on these two. That's why I pray to God that Okada never gives in to them, they always seem to screw these types of things up and it would be horrible to see another great talent ruined. Davey's career is also pretty much over because of this as he's burned a bunch of bridges, not only with Gabe, but ROH probably won't ever want him back. It really sucks when you get down to it.

Davey Richards doesn't work, he throws together spot matches that only benefit him. That's not work, doing a million moves isn't work. And he burned alot of bridges? Yeah, and he would've been thrown in wrestler court faster than Kid Kash and fired within months. What a joke to even fathom Davey Richards being anything more than a glorified jobber in WWE. Can't talk, has no charisma and can't even work a WWE style. Yeah, WWE made a terrible decision not hiring that guy.

He's one of the best, if not the best, story teller that was in the indies and I'm not sure where you get that spot match comment from? While Davey's mic skills are lacking, yes, he makes up for it with ring psychology and a ring presence that nobody else in the World has. There's not a lot of people with 'it' but something about Davey is just believable. With a guy like Rey, you don't really believe that he could come out the better man, but with Davey, you know no matter who, or how big the other guy is, that he could kick his ass. And a lot of guys his size don't have that. He's unique and unlike any other guy where he's smaller, yes, but still a legitimate threat at any level and not even an underdog.

And then with Eddie, there's no excuse there. Great worker, better on the microphone than Davey, and isn't even a 'small' guy.

I'm not saying these two should be main eventers but WWE needs great talent to get them over the hump when Cena & Orton and company retire. Who better than the best wrestler on the planet today? And Eddie Edwards.

Davey Richards has psychology? He uses tigerdrivers from the top rope as transition moves. That isn't psychology, he is just exposing the business as a work by doing all this shit and thus making everybody elses movesets look like shit because of it. It's like he is trying to be booked like Taz and not thinking that Taz floundered in WWE because he didn't know how to sell properly and was just too damn short to pull off the big moves that make him famous.

You don't use too many clotheslines, you don't punch a guy in the face a million times, you don't use multipple finishers in throw away matches. He also doesn't have any badass aura about him, he is some generic create a wrestler, who wouldn't know how to work a WWE style, and really can't work.

If your offense looks like shit and hurts like hell, you suck. Stiffing the fuck out of people isn't work. It's the exact oposite.

He's not HBK, he isn't Brian Kendrick. he is too small for his spots in WWE, and he can't work WWE style,

They said the same thing about Bryan Danielson & El Generico and they're doing pretty well right now.

Bryan apparently worked too stiff and that Generico couldn't work a WWE style.

Sammi Zayn can sell his ass off, something Richards has never been able to do. He is a natural babyface who can get an audience to care, Davey Richards makes more stupid grimaces than a WCW Chris Jericho who freely admits his selling was the shits back then.

Daniel Bryan was fired twice, smartened the fuck up and eased off. He sells his ass off too.

Noticing a pattern here?

midgets need to be able to gain sympathy, sell like Robert Gibson, then show the right type of fire when it's time. Not playing like some UWFi/AJPW/NOAH no sell-a-thon, where two guys just elbow or kick eachother in the middle of the ring and no sell big moves and kick out of everything under the sun.

That type of wrestling kills the industry, you do too much and you make it difficult for everyone else to have a match, and then you get guys killing eachother for nothing.....ECW style.
