Vince simply choose not keep WCW running. He lost confidence over it after one match.

You can go back and watch Raw the week of the WCW matches and then the week after and see the quick rewrites in place. When the plans changed from running WCW to being an invasion angle. WWE even ran a WCW house show ad the week of the Buff match that got pulled the week after.
