If he can't even say a record WNBA number when mentioning a Dynamite number then it's pretty over for the IWC. Saying competition has never been an excuse for the decades it's been done

it's especially infuriating when Monday Night Football is killing RAW ratings and everyone can be cool about it and normal. but not here for some reason. especially on a week where the rating was "relatively" good. It hurts my brain

I get the feeling there's a undercurrent of sexism too because people really don't like to admit women's sports is doing well in ratings (not that i think sky was doing that tho, more of general feeling)

That honestly shocks me, but that’s awesome news.

I also have no idea what numbers they did when tv was hotter, though, to be fair. That aside, those are definitely good numbers for today.

Which makes that even more impressive. You have to add tv inflation on that if they’re outdoing even 1999 numbers.

These are their highest ratings ever since they debuted in the late 90s in some cases

i think its likely a combination of good marketing for the sport itself, tv having nothing interesting on except live sports and events and a successful branding of female atheltes which they were never able to do before until maybe the us womens soccer team boom

sports seem to get big on tv these days because of a) marketable individual atheltes and b) sports betting (which is imo the main rason why football is insanely popular now more than ever, everyone has a fantasy team so even casuals watch)

Caitlin Clark added a lot of fans. Even to other teams, but she’s like the main draw for the WNBA. It’s no shock the actual game mentioned is one she was in.

I don’t disagree with that. For the first time in forever you said a name of a wnba player and I knew who that was without using context clues.
