dont think its that outrageous for his own scale but ya, it was a damn good ladder match and im strugling to think of anything bad with it
I don't wanna detract too much from it, but essentially, it was just a spotfest. The cutter is an all-time highlight reel moment, yes, but where was the selling and psychology? To me, those two things are critical to a match being rated 5 stars. And for my money this isn't even the best ladder match I've seen. Not even the best 1-on-1 ladder match. Might not even be top 5 tbh but I'll have to give it time to age first.
But yeah, that's the issue with ever "breaking the scale", which is idiotic to begin with. Once you've broken the scale, it basically invalidates everything that came before. This being a 5 and so many other matches not being is ridiculous. I guess that concept has been beaten into the ground now, but goddamn it's stupid.
Anyways, I get that it's Meltzer and 5 stars doesn't mean perfect anymore. Which is exactly why I think the whole scale should just be scrapped.
