and even them, I was more debating the meaning behind the promo and alignment, I am clearly not actually mad at punk for the promo as its clearly just working and people having fun. he's just going to be heelish to a portion of the fanbase, just like the Elite trolled Punk in chicago last time (and got cheered).

Yeah, he’s definitely playing heel for a specific portion. That’s all I meant. I think AEW wants a Deadpool style antihero for the people who do like punk and a narcissistic asshole for the people who already hate him and he’s gonna play into that.

prob just me rading too much into BTE but there was also a scene last week where someone was apologizing and Nick Jackson looked right at the camera and said ''Well I accept that apology'' or smth and it made me wonder if that was The Elites way of getting around lawyers to wink and nod at Punk

yeah that too, and he kind of apologized on ESPN too. I dont need the character CM PUNK to apologize on a scripted show unless it fit into a stroyline, but they didnt storyline shit and refused to talk about it for months, so it be weird if he was like ''sorry about that thing no one has been allowed to mention and ppl lost their titles over''
