I guess the question is where do you draw the line between selling and faking an injury

In my mind it's when the action is legitimately stopped like they'd do if someone is legit hurt but it was planned the whole time

I guessing they don't want fake concussion stuff either which I get, medical staff need to have a way to know when to stop a match if ur actually hurt

Like realistically if the action has to be stopped for any longer than a 10 count the ref should just call it anyway in all kayfabe

Also yeah refs and medical should also be made aware of any selling spots you're planning anyway, I think that's just communication that should always happen, refs at least for sure

I kind of like the anxiety of not knowing but I can totally get why it's bad taste to others

Nope not even a little for me lmao I don't like being in the dark about injuries on screen at all, I want to be able to safely assume everything is selling until I find out afterwards someone got hurt

But I'd say it's not as much the bad taste for me either, just the inconsistencies of when refs are checking and stopping matches temporarily sometimes for "injuries" thats 100% planned when they don't in other normal matches after a devastating spot

fwiw this point also kind of encapsulates another reason while all these changes are happening and a lot of it is just clearer communication between all teams on the show and for things to run smoother and safer. it should make for a better produced product in theory

I also don't get the point of trying to sell injuries as a shoot mid-match (should clarify this is my only issue, not post match stuff) when we all know by now it's only real if they awkwardly cut the camera away and aren't showing them. And I always expected that to be the next step to work smarks, cutting away like that for the worked injuries so we believe and I was very much dreading that possibility

and I dont think its really gonna affect anything in ring wise at all except for maybe less repetition and less of a few things. How many times have we heard even guys like Billy Gunn say its a bit like the wild west backstage and how things are run. That can't really last forever as a company grows in size. seems like a natural thing and ofc some ppl I guess will feel a way about it in the long run

yeah I almost thought the Hangman concussion was a work at first because of this line of thinking

Is this legit or a joke? Because not to sound like a bitch, but about half of those rules kill a majority of AEW's preformers.
