Way back in 2000, something very precious was stolen from Nicolas Cage's (probably now defaulted on) mansion: a rare comic book.

The comic, which featured the first-ever appearance of Superman, was MIA until 2011, when it was discovered in an abandoned locker. It was later auctioned for a whopping $2.1 million.

Now, this may not seem as titillating as say, a fire-pissing demon but this story of comic-book theft looks like it's making its way to the big screen.

Lionsgate has greenlit "Action No. 1," a comedy based on the great Cage crime from Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon, writers of "Reno 911!". The story follows a gaggle of geeks who try to steal Cage's very rare comic. The writing partners will also produce the film, along with Peter Principato and Paul Young.

While Cage fans may be miffed by the project's interesting-sounding premise and potentially enjoyable movie-watching experience, fear not: Nic's sitting this one out.

Despite the fact that the part of Cage was written with the actor in mind, sources say it's unlikely he'll take the role. As for right now, no one else is up for the part. It's too bad -- imagine how many more mashups this would spawn.

Do we really need a movie about any part of Nic Cages life? NO. But since the Reno 911 guys are doing it it actually could be pretty funny.

It sounds interesting and would be worth the watch. To bad Cage wasn't in it though.
