And here I go again...
So...while everyone is currently focusing on the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania...
both RAW and SmackDown have a pay per view each between the 2 biggest WWE events
of the year.
RAW has Fastlane (and I don't care) and SmackDown has the Elimination Chamber...
and I suddenly realized after watching the latest episode of SmackDown Live (11/01)
that the SmackDown Women's division is building to possibly the first ever Women's
Elimination Chamber match for the SmackDown Women's Title.
I know...I know...more of my obsessing over the Women's division and my own special
brand of creative wishful thinking...but give me some time to explain.
Now first of all...what is the most high profile Women's singles match SmackDown could
book?
Now no offense to any of the other ladies (Alexa...I adore you) but that match would be
Becky Lynch vs. Nikki Bella for the SmackDown Women's Title.
Do we agree on that? Yes...Okay...moving on.
Let's currently look at the chess board and evaluate the pieces.
Faces:
Becky Lynch
Naomi (Ankle Injury; Inactive)
Nikki Bella
Heels:
Alexa Bliss (Current Champion)
Carmella (?)
Eva Marie (Inactive)
La Luchadora (Identity Unknown)
Natalya
So Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch are continuing to feud over the title while La Luchadora
is currently aligned with Alexa Bliss. It is currently unknown who is under the mask...
but I'm counting her as a heel until her actions prove me otherwise.
Rumor is its the way Mickie James will be introduced to the main roster...but no one
really knows for sure.
The feud between Alexa & Becky has been ongoing since Backlash and the two have had 5
televised matches with each one being worse than the one before it. While the promos and
character work have been 1st rate...the in-ring action is slipping in quality.
Natalya and Nikki Bella are, as of this week are engaging in a violent feud that may
call a special type of match to eventually settle it.
(Can we seriously get Nattie back in this outfit WWE?
And Why do I suddenly feel thirsty for milk?)
Carmella is currently "teaming" with Jimmy Ellsworth and has strung together a couple
of wins over some random jobbers. Of course one cannot forget her recent feud with Nikki
Bella and "squealing" on Natalya...so their is tension there.
I have Carmella listed as a heel...but I'm not really sure what she's being booked as.
Naomi & Eva Marie remain unseen...although Eva was mentioned by name on this weeks
SmackDown.
Now I like Eva...I actually do...but if the WWE is going to do this...they need to keep
Eva out of it. Eva needs to be kept far away from the SmackDown title.
So...that means there are 6 women currently active on the SmackDown roster.
So...we have the Royal Rumble on January 29th, Elimination Chamber on February 12th
and finally Wrestlemania 33 on April 2nd.
So between now and Wrestlemania we need...(For my plan to work out)
~ Becky Lynch to regain the title, either next week in the steel cage or perhaps at
the Royal Rumble itself. Becky needs to be the Champion going into the Chamber.
~ Nikki Bella & Natalya continue to rip strips off each other with reckless violence...
perhaps a backstage brawl at the Rumble if not a match itself. The feud becomes heated
to the point where Daniel & Shane are forced to send one or both of them home.
~ Carmella (with Ellsworth) continues to cheat to win matches to the point where Daniel
& Shane have had enough.
~ La Luchadora's identity is revealed...if not on SmackDown then at the Rumble and
if not there...then at the very start of the Elimination Chamber match itself.
So...Becky defends the title against the other 5 in the Chamber:
~ Its Alexa's rematch to try and regain the title...and the final match in their feud...
~ She has a score to settle with La Luchadora...
~ Nikki Bella and Natalya are placed in the match to settle their own issues...
And
~ Carmella is placed in the cage (With no Ellsworth) as punishment for cheating...
Becky Lynch
Alexa Bliss
La Luchadora
Nikki Bella
Natalya
Carmella
If their are any issues with having 4 heels and 2 faces...Naomi could always be swapped
out for Carmella if she's back from her injury by then.
So...the idea would be for Nikki to eliminate Natalya and win the match itself to claim
the title in a history making moment that caps off her "Return to the Ring" over-arcing
storyline since SummerSlam 2016 and it sets up the Wrestlemania match with Becky
Lynch as it would be her title rematch.
Now of course...a lot can happen between now and Wrestlemania...not just in storylines
but also injuries and suspensions...so who really knows what will happen?
Now the reasons why I believe a Women's Elimination Chamber would work is quite simple.
You have the pay per view and the chamber set up ready to go...simply open the main
show with the women's match...raise the chamber...have the rest of your matches and
then lower it for the main event men's match.
Now Charlotte & Sasha have had plenty of opportunities to "make history" and push
the standard of Women's wrestling in the WWE...and I think the same chance should be
given to the ladies of SmackDown...and since the SmackDown ladies have shared the
spotlight since the brand split (Instead of 2 of them being pushed while everyone else sits
in the background)...it makes sense for (most of) the SmackDown women's roster to make
history together.
Now it is also possible between now and Wrestlemania that there
MAY be the fabled
John Cena heel turn. Now if that happens before Wrestlemania...WWE creative may also
turn Nikki...but it could also happen at Wrestlemania itself with Nikki cheating to win or
retain the title against Becky and it being used as a precursor for Cena's heel turn.
It would be an interesting turn of events if John & Nikki turned on the same night and
both walked into the next SmackDown as Champions and finally an on-screen couple in
the WWE Universe itself.
Cena turning would be huge in itself...but with Nikki at his side and also a Champion...
they would be the best "Power Couple" in the WWE since Triple H & Stephanie.
Now of course the heel turn I most want to see is Becky Lynch (involving my "American
Brothers" the Wyatts) but again...one idea at a time.
Again...this just me (wishfully) thinking out loud and posting it to get us all talking.
So...let me know what you think...positive or negative...and Thanks for taking the time
to read this.
