There have been none in TNA and it's hard to give a five star rating to a match from a company that panders to a small smark niche crowd, especially when that seems to be the prerogative of nearly every show, I think atmosphere matters as much as the men involved when judging a five star match, and I just can't give one to a crowd of a few hundred. But I will say I think RoH offers the best alternative in-ring action anywhere in the English speaking culture and it has had many countless great great matches. ECW never had a 5 star match and it was the most successful indy ever.


Vintage: Flair/Steamer-Chi-Town Rumble, Bockwinkle/Hennig for the AWA title (track this down, this is why Hennig is so regarded by the old time fans) Stieners vs Sting and Luger SuperBrawl 91, Eddy G/Rey Jr Halloween Havoc 97, and Mitsuharu Misawa and Kenta Kobashi have had like 15+ 5* matches with each other and a combination of tag partners since like 1990. They are, to me, the greatest pure wrestlers ever. Puro in general is the best pure wrestling available, IMO.

I've never been fond applying my own ratings to stuff... Especially as don't really see that there's a definitive definition of the perfect match. But here's a bunch that I often SEE rated 5-star that are also amongst my fave matches (most would no doubt have been mentioned already.....

Yeah, great finnish too! I fuckin' love it when you get that scenario where the entire crowd thinks the face won, only for the heel to get his hand raised like they did that match.... JBL pulled this off a few times whilt champ and is a big reason why I thought his reign rocked!

Also, why is the WM XX Triple Threat not on Peep's list?

The match had it all. 3 great wrestlers pretty much at the top of their game, a wild crowd that was popping for pretty much everything, a great finish with Benoit finally capturing the WHC (Just ignore that he won it in WCW >_>).

I would give that match 5 stars.

....One I did leave off, cos of the above and the fact that I haven't seen it in years is BrainBusters v Rockers 2/3 falls on SNME. SO DAMN GOOD!
