Well yeah, you were in the most country area of it. Not all Texas is like that. In fact Dallas, Austin, South Padre Island, and especially Houston would surprise you. The Houston/Galveston area isn't any different than most areas in Los Angeles, just no movie industry. I can totally understand why you didn't like Amarillo though, I'm a city person myself and I fucking hated it out there.
