2Pac vs. Nas (Rap Fans)

Both are lyrical geniuses and let's keep it simple, who's greater?

In my opinion it's 2Pac as he was able to tell such a great story in every song and it all flowed and all rhymed. He was lyrically a genius. I think 'Starin' Thru My Rearview' really showcases that talent. Nas though is a very close second. If 2Pac get's 100% Nas gets 99% they're that damn close.

I'd have to go with 2pac on this one. They both are IMO 2 of the 3 best MC's of all time. Nas is in my opinion the only MC that can be compared to 2pac. Lyrically they are two of the best. Nas has some classics. They are two of the best battle rappers of all time. Nas' "Ether" has to be my favorite diss track of all time "Hit 'EM up" is a close second.

This one has to go to 2Pac. In his songs he can do it all, tell stories, make slow songs, diss tracks, radio tracks, hardcore tracks, and be lyrical in it all. Nas is right there right behind him but 2Pac is in the lead. I only wonder what it would have been like if he were still alive and still rapping.

2pac is still rapping he just isn't alive, I just thought i'd throw that out there. I actually would have liked to see a MC battle between the two of them. But that is something that we all know would/could never happen.

2 Pac was not all that lyrical, in fact, he was pretty simple..

As far as the question of who's greater, 2pac or Nas?

Well, it's very close but I'm going with 2pac because I feel as though 2pac was more passionate with his songs. When he rapped you can feel he's trying to get a feeling out of you and even if you don't really live that life, he still made you understand and feel for the people who do live that life. When you listen to a 2pac song, you feel like you're living whatever he's talking about because he put so much passion and emphasis in his delivery.

With all due respect to Nas, he's a great lyricist and definitely better than Pac in that category but whenever he's rapping, as far as telling a story goes, it feels more like he's just a plain narrator telling you about it. He doesn't seem to put a lot of passion or emphasis in the story he's telling.

About 2pac still being alive and rapping, before he was killed he was talking about wanting to get out of rapping and pursue an acting career and work more behind-the-scenes instead of always being in the limelight. If he were alive, he'd probably be in the same position that Dr. Dre is in right now. He drops an album once every decade but besides that he stays in the background working with other artists. That's probably what 2pac would be doing now.

this is why I give nas the edge, his lyrical ability is flawless. who else has the ability to do perspective records like that? Did you hear project roaches, most people think he was rapping from a roaches perspective, but fail to realize the "roach" represented black men. Same with Fried Chicken, the way he substituted black women with fried chicken, was genius.
