2012 United States Presidential Election

This whole election is about two guys who are the same, except skin colour.

One went far left to get nominated and the other went far right to get nominated and both. Both are still just centrist pragmatists with no backbone or actual leadership, a real leader will stick with a plan that they think is best for the country. not say the right things to appease their base and then do whatever they are told to do.

The polls are still pretty close though. While I think Obama will be re-elected, I'm holding out for a Romney win.

I just can't wait for this election to be over, American politicks seems to bring out the worst in people who talk about it on TV.

Lots of vitriol and lack of facts everytime I try to watch my favorite shows.

With Hurricane Sandy how to people think that it will affect the polling? It has happened during the last week of campaigning so it is a huge disruption as the candidates, rightly so, focus on more important things especially Obama since he has a lot of resposibility here. His reaction has already been better than Bush's to the natural disaster and I just wonder how this will impact polling.

Voter turnout will be lower and I would assume that will favour Romney as Republicans are more likely to go vote no matter what. Then again early voting was mainly by Democrats so that will help Obama. Also Obama gets to show the country how he responds to a crisis and it is a great opportunity for him to show his leadership skills.

Read a report this morning that said Romney held a Hurricane Relief party in Ohio (a swing state) and while they did accept donations of canned goods, the event was run just like all of his other campaign rally's... showed his campaign video, used his campaign music, handed out anti-Obama shirts, etc.... I don't particularly like either candidate but this seems like a pretty low class move... When a situation like this arises, campaigning should be put on hold... I like what Obama has said and done over the last few days but doubt it will be enough to make me forget how little he has done over 4 years.... The political figure who has impressed me the most is New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, I'm a big fan of when a politician drops his "agenda" and speaks and acts like a human being. Gov. Christie spoke his mind about elected officials who share his political party and praised Pres. Obama (who he has very publicly attacked on a great many issues) for his help during this crisis.

Judging from the coverage, the only state that matters is Ohio.

Anyone who doesn't respect Colin Powell is an idiot, and if he says to vote Obama then I guess I will although I despise both candidates in this election.... Please Colin Powell run for office next time around so we have a candidate who will stand by his personal beliefs, instead of bowing to that of his campaign contributors

Just cause I have respect for someone doesn't mean I'll vote a certain way just cause he said so. That's just blind faith and that'll lead ya right off the cliff.

I am still waiting for Michael Bloomberg to make a run as an Independent or as head of a third party, he could really shake things up. Now that he can't extend his run as New York Mayor he needs to find something to do and it is always easier to try to run when there is no incumbent. This time it would have been really tough for him whereas next time with two new faces challenging it makes it easier if he does want to do it.

As for this election it looks like Obama has this, media talk it up as 50/50 but I still think that he will do it quite easily. Won't be anywhere near as easily as last time but he will get a second term. It is weird though as in every poll outside the US it is 75/25 Obama's way, it is clear cut to those outside the US. Romney making comments that the hope of the world rests on the US doesn't help. People just need to be reminded about all the crap he inherited from Bush and it takes longer than four years to fix that. It should have been an easy campaign for Obama so Romney has done well to sow a bit of doubt.

Actually not sure if I'm even voting and would never let the words of one person completely sway my decision.. I respect the hell out of Colin Powell but that was more of an emotionally charged, alcohol fueled, misinterpretation of my own thoughts....

One thing I find interesting is how much importance people are placing on the campiegn team working to gain last minute votes, I guess if the poll as really as close as some say then they could be vitel.

Obama deserves another term, he has done a lot of good, has made a mess of a few things too, but given the condeltions he took over in has been pretty steady. It does take two terms to really stamp your mark, also Romney would just be so wrong. I expect the president to win, but it will be exciting to hear the it on fold tomorrow.

I think what is interesting is that Romney is still in it, he looked dead in the water at one point.

I don't if it is because I am a brit, but I have really enjoyed it the last couple of weeks and have a big night planned listening to the election on the radio, with a ew cold ones.
