I need to hate his tactics in matches and his actions outside of them.

I hated the character he was portraying. Even when he was a face.
he popped the crowd with his wrestling as a face. at the end of the day, he did what a babyface should do

blame the character on the company. orton is one the best mic men of all time, maybe the best

i am saying, wwe should have given orton what he wanted

he had the company by the balls, as he was/is the best wrestler there. orton could have taken the business to new heights, but they fucked up, as they did not give the man the tools to do the job.
don't really agree...orton was on that road but was way too pompous and arrogant and they had to suspend him....take him to anger management, etc.....he kind of fucked himself over, too. If any other star was acting like how Orton did, they would've been fired or brought down a lot...like crazy...but Triple H and Ric liked Randy so he got special treatment....same thing with Dave Batista....but Dave didn't get in trouble like Randy did.

wwe were being slef-rightious

who gives a shiny shit if orton was a prick. he delivered in the ring and at the gate, which is what matter, at the end of the day.

True but you also need a guy who's reliable and can work with people backstage. That matters, too.

I like a lot of what Orton has done during his career, very rarely do I have a problem with him and most of the time when I do have a problem it seems to be more related to how he's getting booked rather than what he's doing himself.

I always enjoyed his Legend Killer gimmick the most. It was entertaining and awesome. Though obvious it couldn't go on forever, I did like Orton before he got his face turn. He was a damn good heel and entertaining to watch.

2009 Randy Orton was goddamn gold:

Imagine if Orton brought this level of intensity and ferocity to all of his feuds. Seeing an unhinged, nothing-held-back Orton go up against Seth Rollins or Brock Lesnar (the latter of which looks like will never happen, unfortunately) would be awesome. Rollins thinks his curb-stomp is deadly, but wait until he's on the receiving end of a punt kick, etc.

Also, I have to somewhat agree with the wise and sagacious TMGI here - not that Orton would have been as big or bigger than Austin with the right push (lol, just... lol), but if they HAD pushed this version of Orton hard as a babyface at the top of the cards, he could have had a huge successful run as a top-level face. Anyone remember those reactions he was getting from 2010-2013?

Glad I missed this shit tbh, Stephanie 6/10 in 2009. All I know for sure is Orton aged like a mother fucker in the past 5 years, he went from early/mid 20s to late 30's looking in just a few years.

Also Vince HHH and Stephanie really did the majority of the work, he's still using his same tired 4 moves and slithering around more like a rapist snake than a viper.

Which is a good thing. Because now he looks like a man (especially with the beard) instead of a pretty boy.
