(* The trade of Dave Chalk to the Padres gives both teams a needed boost. With Kingman, now in his second stint with the Angels, they get another much-needed power bat in the line-up. Kingman can be a feast or famine hitter. He can hit homeruns that go so high and so deep that when they come down they have crystals on them. But, he can also cool down the fans sitting behind home plate on hot days with all his strikeouts. The trade for Kingman is a net positive for the Angels.

Chalk started the year as the starting third baseman for the Angels. A solid hitter (he batted second to start the season in the Angel line-up), Chalk will be a major upgrade at third for the Padres over struggling Tucker Ashford. Chalk is also a decent fielder but is prone to error streaks. Chalk played himself out of the Halo line-up because of his early season fielding miscues. This trade for the Friars was clearly done with an eye to the next few years. Chalk is a big plus of an addition despite the errors.

Overall, the trade benefits both teams. So it's a push.)

Sorry for the delay and shorter game results postings recently.

Been busy with another project.

Will be posting more results soon.

Season's in the books. Just gotta get the results out there and make it to the finish line for the first time ever.

Didn't finish the other two baseball BTB's I started so I'm determined to finish this one.

GAME SUMMARY:
O's starter Jim Palmer and 1B Eddie Murray committed two huge errors in the fifth, leading to 9 unearned runs as the Halos bombed Baltimore, 10-1 to take the first game of the twin-bill. The O's struck for their only run of the game on a solo homer to left by Eddie Murray. Palmer breezed through the first 4 innings, but then everything came apart in the 5th. Don Baylor reached on an error by Eddie Murray to start the inning. Dave Kingman then singled. After Joe Rudi popped out, Palmer walked Bobby Grich to load the bases and then Palmer walked Doug Rader to force in Don Baylor with the tying run. Terry Humphrey then squeezed in Dave Kingman for the go-ahead and decisive run of the game, making it 2-1 Angels. The problems got worse for Palmer when he fielded a grounder hit by Jerry Remy and threw wide of second for an error. Grich scored on the error and Rader moved to third. Gil Flores hit a single that plated Rader and the Angels were up 4-1. Palmer then walked Bobby Bonds to load the bases and then walked Don Baylor to force in Jerry Remy to make it 5-1 Angels. Then came the death blow. Recently acquired Dave Kingman, brought in for his power, belted a grand slam homer to left-center that scored Flores, Bonds and Baylor and made it 9-1 Angels. O's starter Rudy may went the distance, pitching a 4-hitter and allowing only a single run and stopped the bleeding for the boys from Maryland as the O's downed the Halos, 4-1. The O's scored 3 in the bottom of the 5th on one swing from Ken Singleton. Singleton's deposit into the right field seats plated Rick Dempsey and Al Bumbry and made it 3-0 O's. The Angels came back in the top of the 6th with a solo homer to left by Dave Kingman to cut the lead to 2. The O's regained a 3-run lead when Doug DeCinces answered Kingman's solo blast with a solo shot of his own. Angel starter Ken Brett pitched well in the loss. But Rudy May was dominant on this night.

GAME SUMMARY:
The Angels' Dave Kingman continued his torrid longball bashing and smacked a 3-run shot to left-center in the first and Nolan Ryan made those runs stand up in a 3-1 win over the O's. The Angels take 3 of 4 in the series. Kingman's first inning blast off O's starter Ross Grimsley scored Bobby Bonds and Don Baylor. The lone O's run came in the bottom of the 9th when Pat Kelly singled in Eddie Murray to cut it to 3-1. With runners at the corners and only 1 out, pinch-hitter Dave Skaggs grounded into a 5-4-3 double play to end the game. Grimsley and Ryan both pitched complete games and Grimsley was largely dominant over the last 8 innings. But Ryan dominated from start-to-finish and that was the difference in the game.

GAME SUMMARY:
For the third time this season, the Angels melted down in the bottom of the 8th inning of a Frank Tanana start and squandered a 4-0 lead in a 5-4 loss to the Red Sox. The Angels, in 3 Tanana starts this year, have now blown 6-run leads in the 8th in Boston and Detroit and now a 4-run lead in Boston. Tha Angels scored in to the top of the 4th when Doug Rader homered over the Green Monster to make it 1-0. In the top of the 5th, Dave Kingman doubled in Bobby Bonds and Don Baylor and Joe Rudi singled in Kingman to make it 4-0 Halos. Tanana tossed a no-hitter through the first 7 innings before the Sox assault began. After retiring Luis Gomez and Denny Doyle to start the bottom of the 8th, Rick Burleson doubled for the first Sox hit of the game. Tanana then walked the dangerous Fred Lynn. Yaz singled to load the bases. Jim Rice then singled to center to score Burleson and Lynn to cut the lead to 4-2. Tanana then walked Carlton Fisk to re-load the bases. Dyar Miller relieved Frank Tanana. Miller promptly gave up a 2-run double off the Monster to George Scott that tied the game and sent the crowd into a fennzy. After recording the final out of the 8th, the game was tied. Fergie Jenkins retired the Angels in order in the top of the 9th. In the bottom of the 9th, after retiring Denny Doyle, Rick Burleson singled and moved to third on a double down the shallow right field line by Fred Lynn. Yaz then hit a fly ball to left that Rudi caught in medium-deep left field. Burleson tagged from third and Rudi's throw to the plate was off-line as Burleson waltzed across home plate with the winning run. Fergie Jenkins went the distance for the victory. Dyar Miller took the loss for the Angels.

Doug Rader reached on an error by 1B George Scott and Rader scored on an RBI single by Terry Humphrey to make it 2-0 Angels. The Red Sox immediately responded in their half of the 2nd inning when George Scott made up for his earlier fielding error and belted one over the Monster to score Carlton Fisk and tie the game at 2-2. In the top of the 3rd, the Angels took advantage of an error by RF Bernie Carbo. Carbo misjudged a fly ball that landed just out of his reach and allowed Bobby Bonds to score to put the Halos up by a run. Once again, the Sox had an answer in the bottom of the inning. Carlton Fisk hit a long sacrifice fly to center that scored Yaz to tie the game at 3-3. The Angels scored again in the top of the 4th. Don Baylor doubled to left-center to score Gil Flores to put the Angels up for good, 4-3. The Angels got to Sox starter Luis Tiant for 3 more in the top of the 6th. BREAKING NEWS!!!

A plane carrying the Angels' baseball team crashed into the side of a mountain.

The good news is everyone miraculously survived.

The bad news is all the players were crushed in the crash and now stand only 3-feet tall.

Since the Angels could no longer compete in MLB, they were sold to the Jim Rose Sideshow for half-price! :Giggity:
