I don't hear many jokes. He's one of the most respected musicians of our time. His music changed everything and if it weren't for Nirvana we wouldn't hear half of the great music we have since his passing. RIP.

^^ What he said.

I was never the biggest Nirvana fan but there is no doubt Kurt Kobain changed everything. R.I.P.

Kurt kobain made nirvana the awesome rock band they are. Well respected by the rock peers and its a shame he killed himself. Who knows how much greater Nirvana would have been.
RIP Kurt.

R.I.P. It's a shame Courtney Love ruined his life.

Kurt dying was the worst thing that happened.

Rolling Stone magazine made him out to be some "Martyr" and hailed him as some musical genius, when in reality, he basically helped kill metal. Hair metal was on it's way out as far as mainstream music goes, and thrash was ready for it's run. Then 3 chord talentless Nirvana comes along and produces shit music, labels catch on and now we have "Post grunge" that most of you kids like to listen to as a result.

Had Kurt not been a coward that couldn't deal with success (even though he claimed he "stood against" corporatism, the same corporatism that shot his albums to #1 and gave him million$) and killed himself, he may not have been hailed as a genius and would be pumping gas somewhere.

Because of Kurt Cobain's lazy, talentless ass, we have bands like Shinedown, 3 Doors Down, Seether, Nickelback, 10 Years, Breaking Benjamin and so on.

Complete horseshit musicianship. I've seen 7th grade talent show bands that can play more advanced than this tripe. Shit simple drums, introductory bass strumming and the drawn out guitar chords.

REAAAL Genius, you fanboys.

Kurt Cobain was imo an interesting musical mind. Mainly because his lyrics were so random and pointless yet many people try to give all of them some sort of deeper meaning.

But I do think that he is overrated my the mainstream MTV crowd much like any other dead musician, actor, athlete, wrestler or whatever. I am a huge Nirvana fan and I personally do think that Nirvana was one of the most revolutionary bands of the last 25 years or so. I do think that Cobain's lyrics are simplistic yet over analyzed and tried to be made more complex then they really are. He even stated himself that his lyrics have no meaning, they are just random things he throws together from Poems and other things that he wrote.

Rest In Peace Kurt.

Hated being famous, yet he signed those deals with MTV to make videos for mainstream play, played on MTV Unplugged, did all the interviews for exposure and signed with a big label to make million$. Then he 'acted' like he hated it all, to look "cool".

What a hypocritical loser.

Wow, some people share my thoughts on the man, albeit in uglier words. He was a hypocrite, he lacked courage and fortitude, but he was also a musical savant. It's sad what happened to him, but it's the way he wanted it, so it warrants no pity from me. The only thing I hate is when people try to martyr him like he was a generation's Elvis or Lennon and he wasn't. RIP Curt, hope things are easier for you.
