General Chit-Chat Thread: A New Beginning

Generally I think it was a perfect storm. Remove any of Kenny, Bucks, Cody, Jericho and TK from the equation and I think none of this happens the way it has

General Chit-Chat Thread: A New Beginning

Jericho choosing to wrestling Japan was critical as well but even that, along with TK's general interest in the core that would become AEW to begin with, was all spurred on by the popularity of the Bullet Club :lol

General Chit-Chat Thread: A New Beginning

Cody doesn’t get as big without the Bullet Cub. I also think they never would have done something like All In without Cody. Maybe ROH/NJPW at MSG still but that wouldn't have had the same ripple effect. Of course The Elite never would have been able to build something the size of AEW without TK...

But overall I think the arrangement with Cody in WWE is best for all parties nowadays
  5. Hoss

General Chit-Chat Thread: A New Beginning

I wouldn't downplay his contributions to the business
  6. Hoss

General Chit-Chat Thread: A New Beginning

    that would be quite impressive

Also been no character like Hangman in a major company

General Chit-Chat Thread: A New Beginning

There's been nothing like the Bloodline before
  9. Hoss

General Chit-Chat Thread: A New Beginning

Yeah, I can see the parallels but quite obviously different. Though, it wouldn't really matter that much if it was more similar.

General Chit-Chat Thread: A New Beginning

As far as copying angles, gimmicks or even bits, I think that's a different conversation. I think this conversation is more about running your own bits into your ground and booking your own company repetitively.

Potentially as a free agent. But again I circle back to I don't care if he's released or not :lol I am just pontificating mostly. I'm not tuning in anywhere to see if he'll show up. If he's truly released though, hope it works out for him. He can definitely be MLW champ by the end of the year if...

General Chit-Chat Thread: A New Beginning

I would be surprised if anyone thought chasing social media engagement (which is inherently like 80% bots minimum) was good wrestling booking
  13. Hoss

General Chit-Chat Thread: A New Beginning

I should say ultimately that there's nothing wrong with taking the check and job stability, I'd just hate for people to fall victim to corporate trappings of "go ahead and sign away the next 3 years if your professional prime, we promise we have big plans for you" :lol

General Chit-Chat Thread: A New Beginning

But even so, they immediately neutered the angle with Punk coming back immediately, getting ADR in the mix and overshadowing his story with Triple H and Nash bullshit. He held the belt for a record setting amount of time at the moment but no Mania main events and way more often than not, someone...

also just vastly, vastly more popular and frankly, impctful than Kross. Back then, Punk was 1 of 1 on the roster and exactly what fans were clamoring for. Kross is pretty niche and if WWE weren't already the enemy for a lot of people, almost no one would care :lol
  16. Hoss

General Chit-Chat Thread: A New Beginning

I don't think they've ever done an about face with an "underutilized" talent who was close to their contract ending, or even the ones they've released and then rehired. Punk, Truth, Maverick in recent times. They'll capitalize on the hype but as far as anything long term? Get fucked
  17. Hoss

General Chit-Chat Thread: A New Beginning

This isn't the same scale. I don't care if Kross is released or not. Whether he's in WWE or elsewhere, I'm not very interested in him. I do think if it is indeed an angle, they're 100% scamming Kross and his fans into thinking something big is coming down the pike when I don't believe it is.
  18. Hoss

General Chit-Chat Thread: A New Beginning

There was some great memories but ultimately they botched it and burnt the fans and it was like 12 years until they regained widespread favor among the audience
  19. Hoss

General Chit-Chat Thread: A New Beginning

I do think it's fine to work contract expiry angles fwiw. Less so when people are already kinda aggro at your booking decisions, and you *maybe* are working an angle where a popular and disgruntled worker is looking to leave. WWE has done it before and the short term benefits, I'd say, were not...

He wouldn't, no :lol Barring something pretty surprising
