This isn't the same scale. I don't care if Kross is released or not. Whether he's in WWE or elsewhere, I'm not very interested in him. I do think if it is indeed an angle, they're 100% scamming Kross and his fans into thinking something big is coming down the pike when I don't believe it is.

it's possible. If they were bringing him back, I feel like they'll probably have him on TV similar to what they were doing with him of late, MAYBE actually have him win a couple of those matches lol. Hell maybe an IC title run or something. But he's not main event level guy and he's already 40 so it's not like he's a spring chicken.

oh definitely not at that level. Punk was an upper midcard guy when the WWE Summer Of Punk story started when his contract was ending.

I don't think they've ever done an about face with an "underutilized" talent who was close to their contract ending, or even the ones they've released and then rehired. Punk, Truth, Maverick in recent times. They'll capitalize on the hype but as far as anything long term? Get fucked

also just vastly, vastly more popular and frankly, impctful than Kross. Back then, Punk was 1 of 1 on the roster and exactly what fans were clamoring for. Kross is pretty niche and if WWE weren't already the enemy for a lot of people, almost no one would care :lol

Punk was the only one really, he did come back and hold the WWE TItle for 400 days. But yeah that ended so.... so.... so badly

you're 100% right. This is closer to Drake Maverick and R-Truth. Maverick was just a guy that was there, put out a video saying he was released, and the groundswell started because of the emotion he showed. He was brought back and was back in his same spot. Then he left on-camera again, then came back as a writer. Truth was beloved in his role. Comedy guy that shows up and people have a good time. Then they tell him his contract is not being renewed and the universe explodes (The talent too). He comes back as a serious performer but isn't moving up the card.

But even so, they immediately neutered the angle with Punk coming back immediately, getting ADR in the mix and overshadowing his story with Triple H and Nash bullshit. He held the belt for a record setting amount of time at the moment but no Mania main events and way more often than not, someone else (Cena) was in the main event of PPVs. Ultimately, I still see it as WWE was extracting what value they could out of his popularity, and that did elevate him on the card, but when push came to shove, he was still moved aside for the "real" stars.

I should say ultimately that there's nothing wrong with taking the check and job stability, I'd just hate for people to fall victim to corporate trappings of "go ahead and sign away the next 3 years if your professional prime, we promise we have big plans for you" :lol

Yeah I just think it's lame , uninteresting and I don't care if it creates quote unquote engagement m it's inorganic and creatively lazy birderkining in bankrupt after you just did it with truth. And Kross is not truth. And then you'll have hunter smugly snipe the fans and the sheets for being "worked". It's ass, and WWE are lame as fuck

I would be surprised if anyone thought chasing social media engagement (which is inherently like 80% bots minimum) was good wrestling booking

I mean it's 2025. Every professional wrestling story has been done already. Hell AEW is copying Sad Corbin with the Young Bucks right now (and Sad Corbin probably was a copy of something else). And I laugh that everyone automatically assumes that this is a work. Kross on his own dime put out a documentary where he confirmed his contract expired. It wasn't a WWE thing. It was a Kross thing. So he's doing his own storyline on his own dime potentially as a free agent.
