They are guaranteed a slot. But that slot is not set in stone. It's not "every third Tuesday at 8pm". It's "wherever we feel like we can put you in". That's the deal for almost all wrestling in Japan with a TV deal. No one has a guaranteed set in stone time slot. The TV channels set their...

Erm. All Japan have 3 monthly guaranteed TV shows. Depending on sports schedules they get an extra show if they have a big tour. Not even New Japan had guaranteed weekly TV in Japan. They had 2-3 monthly shows before they got world running and the TV became secondary.

I wouldn't call 2017 All Japan a "dismal promotion". Mid 200s AJPW? Probably. 2013-2015 AJPW? Most def. 2017? Nah. Heck, I thought we were having a nice little discussion here.

All Japan - The House Baba built

Dragon Gate are the second biggest company in Japan right now. The problem is they tend to paper their numbers even more than most companies (all companies give away a couple of free tickets per show, particularly for bigger shows, but Dragon Gate are exceptional at hyped up attendances). Which...

All Japan - The House Baba built

My buddy Evan over on Twitter has been compiling and comparing attendance figures for most of the bigger Japanese companies for a while now (his numbers were even cited by Meltzer in a recent observer issue). And the All Japan numbers are looking good. So far this year there has been a increase...

I'm going to just stop our current argument because I do think we are mainly talking circles around each other at this point. But I'll gladly talk All Japan. (I did watch the entire CWC however and loved it) All Japan is possibly the most fucked over company in the history of wrestling. It...

Did I ever mention I prefered WWE? I hardly watch it. I'm an All Japan man if anything. Them's my jam. Again. New Japan does not own their historical tape catalog. I've been pretty clear about this. As good as no Japanese promotions do. Not NOAH, not All Japan, not DDT, not Dragon Gate and so...

Tokyo Sports is not a scoop magazine ffs. It's like the oldest and most respected sports magazine in Japan. And wrestling promoters, Kidani of New Japan in particular give a lot of interviews discussing their businesses and how they wish to evolve it and what they are working on (New Japan's new...

No. New Japan does not own its tape library. TV Asashi does. That is firmly established by the owner of New Japan itself. You are also wrong about the Japanese being secretive in their business dealings. At least in regards to wrestling. The wrestling promotions are big blabbermouths and give...

This is pretty well established. Kidani of new Japan have confirmed it (it's why they don't have everything historically on world. Asashi won't give them all the tapes). G+ owns most of the NOAH tape library, again confirmed by Kidani since NJPW tried to buy it. Nobuo Shiraishi, who owned All...

Considering Japanese wrestling companies don't own their own broadcasted shows if they air on TV it's not that much of a stretch to be honest.

    Underrated Indy/Puro wrestlers

He's young enough to do both and I have heard nothing about him slowing down. I think it's just a matter of him adding stuff to his resume and CZW wanting new people in charge of their book. It will be interesting to see if he can handle other guys creatively as well as he does himself.

Power Struggle, King of Pro Wrestling and Destruction are PPVs. Like with WWE they have moved to a monthly subscription basis. But these shows are historically ppvs and are to be treated as such. To say that New Japan has a weekly US TV show sounds very asinine when they have no hand in the...

NJPW doesn't have a weekly show. NJPW doesn't even touch the AXS show. That's all on AXS (they literally buy match rights off TV asashi and cut and paste them with English commentary). Of course a cut and paste show with high end ppv matches from new japan is going to come off as "better" than...

    Underrated Indy/Puro wrestlers

Sami's had a nice little return to the independent scene after his WWE run. My only worry with him as far as his work is that he will end up stretching himself thin eventually as he starts working more and more places and taking on more roles. Like he just became booker for Combat Zone. That's a...

If there was a Latino version of Nation of Domination stable...

Probably because they existed in the early attitude era. Which was very stable heavy in the old WWE. They got eaten up by more over acts like DX, the nation and the Harts and were stuck in the undercard.

How would you book the Undertakers retirement

I wouldn't change a thing. The biggest old dog got run out of the territory by the new, younger biggest dog. Like in a pack of lions when the old top lion gets chased out by a younger, stronger opponent. He rode out in the sunset like the old cowboy he is.
