Another spitfire round here:
Andy Dufresne (Shawshank Redemption) - An innocent man sent to prison until he escaped nigh-20 years to the day he went in. Maintained his innocence and is the victim of assault, but he's generally speaking a good man who uses his quick wit and cunning guile to work his way around the prison system. While he is accomplice to major crimes such as fraud and larceny, he's not a murderer, an evil sociopath, nor is he a guy who allowed his worst moments define him. Ultimately, I think Andy Dufresne is an extremely rare case where a criminal actually belongs in
Purgatorio (Flawed But Good).
Sheriff Will Teasle (First Blood) - A massive jerkass who, in the movie, it's hinted that because he's a Korean War veteran, he feels jealousy for John Rambo being a Vietnam veteran, and therefore believes Rambo got more media attention and recognition for his sacrifices. While he's not nearly as horrible as his friend Galt, he on several occasions bullies, belittles, and psychologically tortures Rambo during his imprisonment. He indirectly, as a result of his actions, causes the great destruction that befalls Hope, Washington in the days that follow.
The Fourth Circle of Hell (Selfish).
Handsome Jack (Borderlands) - He's the archetypical hero turned villain who becomes delusional of his own importance, and as a consequence, goes off the deep end. He enjoys messing with people he believes is lower than him, has committed several heinous crimes, murdered tons of people, and in essence is a psychopathic dictator of Pandora for the entirety of Borderlands 2. Perhaps worst of all is the torture and imprisonment of his own daughter for years.
Ninth Circle of Hell (Irreparably Malicious).
Micah Bell (Red Dead Redemption) - He's a ruthless criminal, government informant, sociopathic murderer, and a sadist with almost zero redeeming qualities. He's primarily responsible for the unraveling of Dutch Van Der Linde, and his actions lead entirely to the events of Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Redemption. It is with this in mind, that out of all the characters in the series, he is perhaps the absolute worst of the bunch.
Ninth Circle of Hell (Irreparably Malicious).
Arthur Morgan (Red Dead Redemption) - This one is difficult particularly because it depends entirely on how the player acts within the game that defines his place. For the purposes of this listing, we'll go with his (very likely) canon version: the Good Route. Morgan fancies himself and his crew to be "Robin Hood" type characters, who steal from the rich and give to the poor (or in this case, themselves). He has killed lots of people in his many years in the gang, but in the good ending, he's also a man who has helped so many others that their lives are better for it. The most consequential is his saving of John Marston, the two who had such acrimonious relations throughout Red Dead Redemption 2. Morgan was a criminal, but one who had a soft side, and a general sense of good morality.
Second Circle of Hell (Mildly Sociopathic).
Happosai (Ranma 1/2) - He's a dirty old pervert who enjoys hedonistic behavior, being a nuisance, and also flirting with anything that moves. He's also a thief, a vain narcissist, and has committed human trafficking and false imprisonment. Fuck this guy.
Sixth Circle of Hell (Malicious).
Andy Bernard (The Office) - He's essentially an average office worker, who has a selfish streak, but otherwise is polite, and a bit of a pushover when it comes to his superiors. He's got some anger issues, and has a tendency to be neglectful or abusive in relationships.
Limbo (Flawed Neutral).
Conker (Conker's Bad Fur Day) - He's an irreverent jerkass squirrel who loves fourth wall jokes, and generally just doing whatever he wants.
First Circle of Hell (Mildly Selfish).
Thanos (Marvel Cinematic Universe) - Homie genocides half of Earth's population, all for power-hungry reasons. He fancies himself a god, and thankfully he's defeated before he could cause more damage to other worlds.
Ninth Circle of Hell (Irreparably Malicious).
Frieza (Dragon Ball) - Similar to Thanos, Frieza is an unrepentant monster who knows what he is: A genocidal space dictator. Later in the series, he participates in a grand tournament to save his world, but this is merely for his own personal gain, which is to have one last fight with Goku.
Ninth Circle of Hell (Irreparably Malicious).
Vegeta (Dragon Ball) - Vegeta is a villain turned hero, who thirsts for battle, and generally is just kind of an asshole. Perhaps his biggest boons are that he loves his family (even if he sometimes doesn't show it), and he chills out as the series goes on and comes to want to defend the people around him. His biggest flaw is his pride and ego, though, which leads to him making terrible decisions time and time again.
Fourth Circle of Hell (Selfish).
Krillin (Dragon Ball) - Krillin's a pragmatic hero, who time and time again, is willing to jump into a fight knowing he's overmatched, if it helps his friends. He's the ultimate friend, and he never abandons them in their time of need. I'd go so far as to say Krillin is perhaps the most "good'-aligned character in all of Dragon Ball, even moreso than Goku.
Paradiso (Flawless).
Master Roshi (Dragon Ball) - Roshi is basically Happosai if he wasn't a total asshole and actually was a good person. Yeah, Roshi's a pervert, and that's probably his biggest flaw, but he trained Goku and Krillin everything they knew, and instilled an incredible work ethic into them. He taught Goku many life lessons, even if sometimes it was by disguise. Roshi is the essence of a great teacher, and a man who, despite his flaws, does his best for all around him. The old man still can jump into a fight and put on a decent performance.
Purgatorio (Flawed But Good).
Gohan (Dragon Ball) - Gohan is perhaps the 2nd most clearly "good-aligned" character in the series, but Gohan suffers from an extreme flaw of his, which is his pacifism in the early series. He nearly allowed Cell to destroy the world if it hadn't been for some deus ex machina from Android 16. Gohan is cursed by his gentle nature, to which he has to learn that fighting is not an evil, and sometimes is even necessary.
Purgatorio (Flawed But Good).
