Ehh, I fail to see how they've improved the product....at all. Crappier matches and BS finishes is a bad combo.

Danielson vs. Claudio sounded like a great match, same for Nigel vs. Lynn.

I think that they killed Rhett Titus' gimmick last night, which was a terrible idea.

Well...they could just say he was lying, while necro was on him.

RESULTS

Preshow

~Ernie Osiris picks someone's pocket and runs. They never saw it coming! Funny stuff.

~ROH returns to Philly on February 28th.

1) Ernie Osiris & Bobby Shields defeat "Sugarfoot" Alex Payne & a Ninja.

2) Grizzly Redwood defeats a Ninja.

Main Show

1) Kenny Omega defeats Rhett Titus to kick off ASE IV with a Kotaro Krusher.

2) Chris Hero defeats Erick Stevens with a kick to the face with a loaded kick pad.

3) Kensuke Sasaki & Katsuhiko Nakajima defeated Roderick Strong & Brent Albright in a very stiff match when Sasaki beat Albright with a Northern Lights Bomb. Aside from one botch on Nakajima's part, this match was absolutely fantastic.

4) Takeshi Morishima defeats Go Shiozaki with a Backdrop Driver. Disappointing, below average match.

5) Jay & Mark Briscoe defeat Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards and Nigel McGuinness & Claudio Castagnoli in a Triangle Elimination Match. Nigel & Claudio were eliminated first when Edwards rolled up Claudio, then a Jay Driller on Eddie eliminated the Wolves. Mark limped out.

*Additional reports claim Mark had ANOTHER tooth kicked out of his head, and in to the front row.

~INTERMISSION~

6) Naomichi Marufuji defeats Austin Aries in a "good outing". Aries was pushing the limits of heel and face before the match. Aries was furious that Marufuji got streamers, then tried to steal the "NEXT WORLD CHAMP" chant for Fuji as his own. After the match he scoffed at the ovation he was given.

~After the match NANA appears! ....then is dragged out by security.

7) Jimmy Jacobs, Tyler Black, & Delirious defeat Kevin Steen, El Generico, & Necro Butcher when Jacobs caught Steen in The End Time. After the match The American Wolves attacked the Champions.

8) Bryan Danielson defeats Jerry Lynn with a small package. The finish saw both men with their shoulders down, but Bryan got his up at the last split second to get the W. After the match both men put one another over to the live crowd. Good finish to the show.

========================================================

Sounds like a pretty good show. I'm kinda surprised Jerry Lynn main evented. They are shoving that guy down the fans throats. Im not a fan of it.

I also noticed they put the Samoe Joe vs Tyler Black on the esculation dvd from Ohio the night before. Interesting strategy. Basically almost making both shows must buys.

RESULTS

~ROH returns to the Hammerstein on March 21st.

1) Kenny Omega defeats Claudio Castagnoli when he reversed the Ricola Bomb in to a small package. Omega didn't get much offense throughout the contest. Claudio flipped after the match and destroyed ringside to big heat. Claudio came out for the match in a Boston Red Sox jersey. Decent opener.

2) Jerry Lynn defeats Chris Hero, Rhett Titus, & The Necro Butcher with a Cradle Piledriver on Hero. Slow match early on, picked up late. More or less a tag match.

~After the match Jimmy and Delirious hit the ring and beat down Necro. Steenerico make the save. Tag Championships on the line NOW!

3) ROH World Tag Team Championships: Kevin Steen & El Generico defeat Jimmy Jacobs & Delirious to retain. Daizee Haze came out and Jimmy tried to attack her, but Delirious made the save. The distraction gave Steen and Generico a chance to hit Delirious with the Package Piledriver/Brainbuster combo for the 3.

~After the match Jacobs gets in Delirious' face and Delirious backs down. Jacobs says Age of the Fall is going to hell.

4) Brent Albright, Roderick Strong, & Erick Stevens defeat Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, & Go Shiozaki in a totally wild street fight. Roddy backdropped Richards through a table to the floor, and Shiozaki took all three men's finishers before tapping to the Crowbar. SNS Inc. walked out on Go. Fans chanted for Go after the match, and he flipped them off. Match was really good.

5) Jay & Mark Briscoe defeat Kensuke Sasaki & Katsuhiko Nakajima with a Jay Driller on Nakajima. Freaking awesome match.

~After the match The American Wolves hit the ring and beat down the Briscoes. They injure Mark's knee with a steel chair. Steenerico hit the ring to attack the Wolves. Davey attempts to help but gets cut off by Albright.

Albright cuts a promo saying that SNS Inc. is ruining ROH. He again makes a challenge for a steel cage match of some kind. Cary at ringside agrees. Mark limps out badly after it was over. No date announced for the cage.

~INTERMISSION~

6) Austin Aries defeats Tyler Black to become the new #1 contender with a brainbuster/450. Match of the night by far. Jimmy came down and "accidentally" distracted Tyler when Tyler had the match won.

~After the match Tyler shoves Jimmy and they argue again. Jimmy gets the upper hand and locks Tyler in The End Time. Aries grabs a chair and pulls Jimmy off of Tyler. Black struggles to his feet, then Aries blasts him with the chair! Jimmy and Aries totally destroy Tyler. Heat was insane!

~After all this ends Austin Aries punches a fan right in the face. Paul Turner gets involved and looks to have the guy in a choke hold. Security and who looks to be Adam Pearce helps escort the guy out. No clue what started it. Turner gets a standing O and a "Next World Champ" chant.

From BotMaster's bro at the show:

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Aries is walking up the ramp, heeling it up, the fan gave him a chop. Aries got right in the fan's face and yelled at him, at which point the fan shoved Aries. Aries responded with a few punches. The fan's friend began to freak out, and was also grabbed by security. The rest is basically what it says in the main post.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7) ROH World Championship: Nigel McGuinness defeats Naomichi Marufuji to retain the ROH World Championship with a Rebound Lariat in an amazing match. Nigel was holding his forearm after the match. Not sure if it's legit.

~After the match Jerry Lynn comes out. He gets a mic and puts over Nigel and the company as a whole. Nigel is still furious Lynn is out. Lynn challenges Nigel for a Championship match RIGHT NOW. Nigel blows him off and runs through the crowd. Great Lynn promo, but the crowd didn't care much.

~Nana sneaks his way in begging for a job once again. And again, he's removed.

8) Bryan Danielson defeats Takeshi Morishima in a brutal Fight Without Honor. Dragon finished the job with 20 elbows, and a Cattle Mutliation with a steel chain. The two totally killed one another. Just unreal.

just got back from the show. freaking insane. I missed the first two matches because of the slow ass train, I'm kinda disappointed with missing Omega and Hero.

the Aries fight was CRAZY. I was on the floor, so I didn't get to see it from where I was standing. the dude was an idiot, he got his ass handed to him by the whole locker room and Paul Turner.

I'll post whatever I thought of the show tomorrow.

Philly thoughts:

1) Kenny Omega defeats Rhett Titus to kick off ASE IV with a Kotaro Krusher.

good match. some nice moves by Omega, standing frankensteiner among them.Rhett was solid.

Chris Hero defeats Erick Stevens with a kick to the face with a loaded kick pad

Hero was his usual boring self,Stevens was allowed to do a couple nice power moves in between selling some hit or miss elbows, bicep strikes to the head and other supposed devastating maneuvers. crowd barely acknowledged Hero after the W.

Kensuke Sasaki & Katsuhiko Nakajima defeated Roderick Strong & Brent Albright in a very stiff match when Sasaki beat Albright with a Northern Lights Bomb. Aside from one botch on Nakajima's part, this match was absolutely fantastic.

stiff to put it mildly. I dont think Sasake sold one move from Roddy. Roddy drew blood on his first chop, gave Kensuke 4 more and never got a flinch out of the guy. besides what was previously said Every one looked on their game. real good match.

Takeshi Morishima defeats Go Shiozaki with a Backdrop Driver. Disappointing, below average match.

both guys are usually hot and warm when ive seen them,id say an ok match. some decent brawling back and forth,Go hit a couple nice power moves on Morishima. i liked it better than the guy phoning in the results.

Jay & Mark Briscoe defeat Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards and Nigel McGuinness & Claudio Castagnoli in a Triangle Elimination Match. Nigel & Claudio were eliminated first when Edwards rolled up Claudio, then a Jay Driller on Eddie eliminated the Wolves. Mark limped out.

Nigel worked a lot of this match early, interesting to see two heel teams and the Briscoes who are kinda tweener. good match everyone was solid.

Naomichi Marufuji defeats Austin Aries in a "good outing". Aries was pushing the limits of heel and face before the match.
~After the match NANA appears! ....then is dragged out by security.

good back and forth action between these two. lots of counters to their opponents known moves, impressive.

Nana never even made it to the ring, good to see him though. the crowd was hot for him.

Jimmy Jacobs, Tyler Black, & Delirious defeat Kevin Steen, El Generico, & Necro Butcher when Jacobs caught Steen in The End Time

Richards and Edwards came out and attacked Steen towards the end of the match causing the loss. decent action Jacobs and Delirious werent as bad as usual.

Bryan Danielson defeats Jerry Lynn with a small package. The finish saw both men with their shoulders down, but Bryan got his up at the last split second to get the W. After the match both men put one another over to the live crowd. Good finish to the show

main event worthy,Lynn showed he can still go and Dragon was on his game.didnt really notice there was a double pin at the end. Dragon went for a small package, got a 2 count,Lynn reversed got a 2 count and Dragon reversed it again.Lynn took the cattle mutilation, triangle choke and the rest of Dragons usual stuff.

I noticed a lot of guys didnt bust out many of their signature moves. I dont remember Nigel using one lariat for instance. Steen,Generico and Black also seemed like they were kept under wraps to a good degree.show was good, the guy I went with had never been to Philly couldnt make it to FB tonight and said it was worth the trip.I really enjoyed the ME and the Kensuke Office tag match. I was encouraged by the Nana appearance. i was surprised that the return is on 2-28-09,i figured that would be NYC after CT on 2-27-09. my best guess is NYC after Pittsburgh on the third weekend of march

Preshow

1) Ernie Osiris & John Kermon defeat Dirty Sanchez & Andy Ridge after Ernie pins Ridge with a spike double arm DDT. Ridge had an impressive showing.

2) Grizzly Redwood defeats Ninja Pink with a top rope axe handle. Tons of lumberjack antics, including using his hand as a chainsaw!

Main Show

~Attendance looks to be between 300-400 as the show gets started. Return date of June 12th.

1) Brent Albright & Erick Stevens defeat Damien Wayne & Chris Escobar with a half nelson suplex/clothesline combo on Escobar. Stevens is growing back the mohawk again. Wayne and Escobar played heel in the match. Wayne's chest was red and bloody after the match.

2) Rhett Titus vs. Sean Denny ends in a no contest as Bison Smith comes in through the crowd and completely destroys them both. Smith left through the crowd chased by security. Before the run in Titus and Denny had a solid 8 minute contest. One of Denny's better matches.

3) The Necro Butcher defeats Delirious with a Tiger Driver. Necro was in control early on but Jacobs attacked his knee, which led to Delirious working it over. Delirious goes for Shadows Over Hell but gets punched on the way down. Delirious gets control back and Jacobs gives him the spike. Daizee is out and talks Delirious out of hitting Necro and gets him to hand the spike over.

4) Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards defeat Jay Briscoe & Roderick Strong with a superkick/german suplex combo on Jay after Sweeney hit him with a boot. Best match of the night thus far. Crowd was really in to it.

~INTERMISSION~

5) Jerry Lynn defeats Austin Aries by dropping down on him as Aries went for a sunset flip out of the corner. Aries came out with new tights, and to new music. Aries had shaved all his facial hair short of the mustache. Aries said all will be explained in his manifesto. Aries was super cocky and flamboyant throughout the match.

6) Jimmy Jacobs defeats Bryan Danielson by rolling through the Triangle Choke in to a bridging pin. Fantastic match with Danielson's right knee being Jacob's target throughout.

7) Tyler Black defeats Nigel McGuinness with a powerbomb in the corner followed by a stiff superkick. Not as many nearfalls as there were in Philly and New York. Best match of the night with the best heat.

Cool to see Bison Smith in ROH.

ok, so ill jstart with the first match and work ,my way down.

Esco and DW are awesome as a team. LOTS of double team, including a sick double sweet and sour move with a dropkick from Wayne and and side dropkcik to the knees from Escobar. Erick and Albright looked good as a team. I was rooting for DW/Esco bc they are my friends but their match looked good. O, and when streamers were thrown, one hit DW right in the nuts and mine landed in the second row on the other side of the building.

2) Rhett Titus vs. Sean Denny ends in a no contest as Bison Smith comes in through the crowd and completely destroys them both. Smith left through the crowd chased by security. Before the run in Titus and Denny had a solid 8 minute contest. One of Denny's better matches.

Match was pretty good IMO. Denny looked way better than Rhett. The tilt a whirl piledriver was AWESOME. Denny was pretty stiff and got some good pops. Bison came in and shit canned both of them. Styles Clash on Rhett onto Denny. Which was the SHIT. Bison celebrates with some fans in front row and bounces.

Diazzee is hot but her trainee..OMG can u say erection. Seriously she got me to buy a program. Best five dollors i ever spent. Now, to the match. Match was a brawl but what to expect. There would of been blood but u cant bledd in VA, so none. I tried to start a hooked on phonics chant for Deliroious but no-go. The fans kept handing Necro chairs but ref keep taking them. Cool spot wit a body slam with the chair onto the concrete. Necro gets the win and was pretty over.

4) Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards defeat Jay Briscoe & Roderick Strong with a superkick/german suplex combo on Jay after Sweeney hit him with a boot. Best match of the night thus far. Crowd was really in to it.

I dont think the crowd wa into it as much as they could of been. This match should of been sepearated by intermission. Delirous/Necro was stiff and so was this match so crowd was iffy on it. Davey looks just like Dynamite Kid now. Cool spot where Richards and Edwards go to double kick Strong and he moves and they kick the fuck out of thir own shins. Briscoe got a good pop. Chops were loud form strong. O, and Bobby Dempsey is awesome. He came out and all u heard were bobby dempsey chants. Sweeny sent him to the back and it was comical shit.

This match could of been way better if Austin wasnt doin his gay Austin Starr gimmick. Austin cut a promo beforre hand talking about his manifesto and at the begging he asked where his name was and Austin Starr was the fans response. JL got a standing ovatioon like he deserves. Like i said it was good but could of been better if Austin didnt try to gimmick himself throughtout the entire match.

6) Jimmy Jacobs defeats Bryan Danielson by rolling through the Triangle Choke in to a bridging pin. Fantastic match with Danielson's right knee being Jacob's target throughout.

Dainelson's right knee gave out when he went for a springboard and lost his ballance. it looked legit for a few seconds until Jacobs started to attack. Dragon got "BEST IN THE WORLD" and "Your goin get ur fuckin head kicked in chants" I tried to start a Jimmy Swallows chant but that didnt work either. The finish was weird because they were to close to the ropes and Jacobs had to bounce his feet off the ropes in oder to get the pinfall. Fans started a bullshit chant afterwards which could lead to another match between these two. Also, lots of new submissions i had never seen befroe which was cool.

7) Tyler Black defeats Nigel McGuinness with a powerbomb in the corner followed by a stiff superkick. Not as many nearfalls as there were in Philly and New York. Best match of the night with the best heat

This amtch was good. Not as good as they other one but this is VA and they are not going to go all out. Black looked good and got "Next World Champ" Chants. He revesed the rebound Lariot into a nice crusifix type manuever which was hot. the Lariot from Nigil looks stif as hell andis awesomeness in a can (if i can steal that one time) Superkick at the end was stiff.

Biggest pops:
Bison
Dragon
Bobby Dempsey

Heat:
Nigel
Aries
Finish to Dragon/Jacobs

RESULTS

Pre-Show

a. Alex Payne & Red Ninja d. Ernie Osiris & "Beautiful" Bobby Shields - Seagull got there after the pre-show, so he got this result from someone near by, hence the "someone else".

b. Andy "Right Leg" Ridge vs. Brandon Day - Unsure of winner

c. Bobby Dempsey vs. Orange Cassidy - Unsure of winner, though one would think Dempsey.

MAIN SHOW

1. Brent Albright d. Rhett Titus - Albright wins with the half nelson suples

2. Delirious d. The Necro Butcher, Damien Wayne, & Sean Denny in a Four Corner Survival - Delirious wins with the Shadows over Hell on Sean Denny

Kyle Durden is now in the ring to interview Austin Aries. Aries says the fans owe him an apology for turning their backs on him. He had hoped he'd have some closure after making Jacobs say I Quit, but that didn't come. Says that the crowd always cheered no matter who was being hit with chairs. Says that Tyler Black is nothing more than the flavor of the month, and that the fans will turn on Black just like they turned on him. He says he's done wrestling for us, for the company, for DVD sales, for snowflakes. He's now only wrestling for himself. He says he is NOT going to cash in his title shot at a "B Show" like tonight. He then knocks out Kyle Durden. Tyler Black comes out and says if Aries doesn't want the title shot, he'll take it. Black tries to attack Aries, but Jacobs jumps Black from behind. Jay Briscoe comes out to make the save...and challenges Aries and Jacobs to a three way match, which is on now. Aries and Jacobs seem to be working together...

3. Jay Briscoe d. Austin Aries & Jimmy Jacobs in a 3 Way Match - Jay wins with a roll up on Jacobs after he makes Jacobs accidently hit Aries with the spear. Jacobs and Aries never really came to blows during the match, but were not "together" either. They pushed each other back and forth, but Seagull described it as similar to the Dudley's pushing each other, psyching each other up. After the match, Jacobs spits his gum at Aries, who picks it up off the ground and chews it.

Nigel McGuinness vs. Tyler Black for the ROH World Title is official for tonight.

Nana comes out and takes his belt off, offering to be a lumberjack! He's escorted out, the Lumberjack Strap Match is up next!

4. Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards d. Roderick Strong & Erik Stevens in a Lumberjack Strap Match - Edwards hit Stevens with a chair behind the refs back. Lumberjacks went after everyone, no heel or face distinguished in that.

-INTERMISSION-

Ernie Osiris is out walking through the crowd, asking for money, during intermission.

Crowd is estimated in the 600 range. He said it isn't as packed as last time in Edison.

5. Grizzly Redwood vs. Chris Escobar went to a No Contest - Bison Smith came in and destroyed them both.

6. Jerry Lynn d. Bryan Danielson - Lynn wins cleanly with the Cradle Piledriver! After the match Danielson teases not shaking hands, but eventually does.

During the match, Nigel tried to walk out of the match, Danielson came out and stopped him and said he'd kill him where they stood...match continues!

Later on...(from another source) Jacobs attacked Tyler, Lynn came out and attacked Nigel, then Aries, Strong, Stevens, Albright, American Wolves, and Jay Briscoe were all out brawling. Danielson came out and ordered everyone to the back saying that the match was undecided, and for the World Title. Jacobs atacked Danielson, and the big brawl started again. Jay and Albright both did ???? off the top rope. Danielson did a dive into the crowd and the brawl moved into the crowd. Everyone brawled to the back. Sinclair and Cary conferred...and the match MUST CONTINUE!

After all that...

7. Nigel McGuinness and Tyler Black go to a time limit draw! - Tyler hit the superkick while Nigel was on his knee just like last night, and as he was crawling over for the pin, the bell rang for the time limit. Seagull timed it and said it was only about 45 minutes...so could be a 45 minute time limit. Tyler asked for five more minutes, Nigel said no way, and headed to the back, ending the show!

======================================================

Glad Tyler didn't win.

You know, I've seen a lot of people complaining about this weekend's shows, yet here I am, more excited to see these two shows than I've been for any ROH show (Excluding the likes of Glory by Honor and DBD) in a while.

I'm actually loving this new direction... Also, the brawl in the middle of the ME sounds bad-ass.
