I just feel like I'm missing the relevance of them being on linear ESPN. Like I get culturally that is a thing to people that remember ESPN how they used to be, but it just seems to me like that's explicitly only relevant to ESPN content schedulers and old people that refuse to use streaming services they already get for free with cable.

So if you already have cable it's a deal for you, but not bc it's on linear, just bc you get the app, assuming you were canceling cable anytime soon. If you cancel cable then you got a pay the $30.
Now I'm confused about what you're asking and why :lmao

I mean, if I'm understanding you I would just say that the linear ESPN channel still has some prominence and name value to people over the age of 25, and I'd say it's a relevant clarification. Like, it's a much bigger deal for your sport/league/company to air on actual ESPN, than it is to be streamed on ESPN+. Being on ESPN+ is good, it means you have distribution and your fans can access you. But being on actual ESPN means millions being exposed to you everyday, fans or not. You'll be on the TVs in bars, restaurants, barber shops, etc. So for the purposes of a negotiation and a press release, I would consider it pretty relevant. But again, I most likely am completely missing your point. :lol

OK. Is there a reason you blatantly ignored any piece of information and continued to spread misinformation the entire time? That's just as bad if you ask me.

Me: Here's WWE and ESPN both saying that select shows will be on TV.
You: ESPN is not gonna put PLEs on TV.
Me: Here's proof of both sides saying that's gonna happen.
You: It's not happening.

Can you not see how that's aggravating?

I truly am sorry if you were offended by what I said. Honest. It's just that when I get constantly needled like I have been I go on the offense and give it back worse than I had been getting it.
you got aggravated right away and I could of worded it better, but attacking WWE is not attacking you. If it ends up that this is what they say then I’ll agree it’s a great move

Yeah but I'm speaking from the POV of a WWE fan that's already going to be watching. They get the good deal if they have cable not bc it's on TV but bc they get the streaming service. why would they watch on linear TV (barring the streaming service being shitty I guess)

Those benefits are WWE centric to potentially get new fans, I get that, but not the POV I care a little about lol they're a machine. I don't really get the relevance of it being on linear to fans other than being happy the company made a good business deal, it doesn't affect their benefits from the deal if select shows are on linear or not

Like to summarize, will Troop, for example, be personally affected because it's also on linear when he would already have access to all, not select PPVs through the service for free? I don't think so

Yeah like I'm not saying it's not a big business deal for WWE or ESPN, the coverage alone will grow like crazy on ESPN outside of the content it airs.

Just feel like business benefit vs consumer benefits are two separate conversations and the consumer benefits is the streaming service being included, not the 4 or so shows they air on linear that you already have access to.

So we all will could be affected at some point or another.

Lets say I go on vacation the week of a WWE PLE. Getting Peacock on a Hotel TV is damn near impossible. You know what's on pretty much virtually every Hotel TV? ESPN.

Also, Bars and restaurants now can just put on ESPN, which they all get with their commercial TV package. Before they had to get an advanced package that allowed them to get the shows that were on streaming (or illegally log into a Peacock account which could result in major fines).

True. And maybe it's just the multiple discussions occurring at once rn so I maybe missed it if it was asked or clarified... but what I'm now wondering is if the cable subscription will be limited in any form to where the content you get automatic access to on the app is only the same stuff that is broadcast on main ESPN. Like, you have cable, and they're airing Mania on both ESPN TV and the app, so you have access automatically to watch it either on TV or the app... but if like Elimination Chamber isn't broadcast on TV, only the app, would cable subscribers then be required to pay a subscription for that "additional content". :hmm: That would be the one way I could see it as more of a ripoff to the fans, but idk.
