It's also very funny to be all like " hurry durrr why would da people vote same da same if they want change durrrrrr" and not even talk about what the alternative was and how bad it was.

This was always a "I'm so much smarter" comment they tried to pass and have been back tracking ever since we "just asking questions " and "if ppl had just asked me a follow up" bs when the OP they posted was sarcastic and mocking . It's hillarious one would think I'm so naive to not recognize a troll or conservative party talking points. Faux intellectualism at it's best

Mohsen Mahdawi, a Palestinian Columbia student who had been detained by immigration authorities when he went to his U.S. citizenship interview, has been released after a federal judge's order in Vermont on Wednesday.

Mahdawi was taken into custody on April 16. A judge later issued an order barring the government from removing him from the state or country.

"Yes you might think I am free, but my freedom is interlinked with the freedom of many other students," Mahdawi said outside the courthouse in Burlington, Vermont, shortly after being released.

Public services in the US is "Communism" to the public conscience sadly.
Social security, medicare, and medicaid all have 80+% popular support among Americans. The DOGE scam had to conjure this myth about significant "waste, fraud, and abuse" to justify their cuts. It turns out, there's actually shockingly little fraud in these programs, and the fraud that does exist in medicare/medicaid specifically is perpetrated by providers, not recipients, despite Republican claims.

I know this, you know this, most people know this, but Hardline Conservatives don't care.

Chief Justice John Roberts appears to hold the key vote over whether the Supreme Court will allow the nation’s first publicly funded religious charter school in Oklahoma.

Roberts was the only justice whose vote seemed in doubt after the court heard more than two hours of arguments Wednesday in a major culture-war clash involving the separation of church and state.

The court seemed otherwise deeply divided.

The US and Ukraine reached a deal over access to Ukraine’s natural resources Wednesday, a move that Kyiv sought to solidify President Donald Trump’s backing in ceasefire talks with Russia.

The deal will grant the US privileged access to new investment projects to develop Ukraine’s natural resources including aluminum, graphite, oil and natural gas. It’s been seen as critical to nurturing Trump’s goodwill toward Kyiv as his administration pushes to end the war that began when Russia mounted its full-scale invasion of Ukraine more than three years ago.

President Trump on Friday unveiled his budget for the 2026 fiscal year, proposing about $163 billion in cuts to key federal education, health, housing and labor programs while still seeking to boost spending on defense.

The blueprint showcased Mr. Trump’s conservative vision for Washington while formalizing his disruptive reorganization already underway, as he shutters entire offices and dismisses scores of federal workers without the explicit approval of Congress.

Here’s what else to know:
  • Major health cutbacks: The budget proposes massive cuts at the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, but it includes $500 million for Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s signature initiative: Make America Healthy Again. The C.D.C.’s budget would be cut by more than half, to $4 billion from roughly $9 billion.
  • Significant reduction in education: Education spending would fall by $12 billion under Mr. Trump’s 2026 blueprint, with the most significant cut coming from a plan to “streamline” Title I money for high-poverty schools and other K-12 programs.
  • Major changes to the F.B.I.: The Trump budget proposed cutting more than $500 million from the F.B.I., declaring that the administration “is committed to undoing the weaponization” of the agency that it said occurred under the Biden administration
  • A boost in defense: Even as many domestic programs see budget cuts, Mr. Trump’s 2026 plan proposes increasing military spending by 13 percent, to $1.01 trillion for 2026.
  • Safety net cuts: Mr. Trump proposed slashing some federal safety net programs, confirming early budget documents reviewed last week by The New York Times. Those recommended cuts include trimming more than $26 billion in federal rental assistance.

Mark Carney winning is actually a mark for common sense. A man who as actually held a job, that you can't fix and your accomplishments are measured on an actual rigid and measurable metric. Common sense prevails!

A lot of the left decided center was more sensible and were tired of identity politics . It looks like Australia decided the same

The best complaint I have seen more than once is paraphrased as "What is the Bank of England?"

He also managed the bank of Canada during the big American recession and got that job by being hand picked by the then current conservative PM Steven Harper. Canada came out of that recession famously well. Dude can ball.
