The Editorial

Welcome to the third edition of the BTB Magazine, and it has been a long time since Issue 2, so I hope you remember to give congratulations to the best Editor of the BTB magazine ever. :nosweat:

Well in this issue, we have GardsJr giving his views on Emperor DC's Comments about Recaps, eyebrow2007 gives his BTB picks of the Fortnight and - -Magnus- - gives us the first installment of a Diary of a Booker.

Enjoy!

BTB Picks of the Fortnight
--------------------------------------------------------------

-HBK-
HBK, in my eyes, is one of the biggest up and coming bookers on this site and this past fortnight has proved exactly why. He produced a quality Smackdown show and although sometimes his matches are not quite what they should be his immaculate Promos completely make up for it. Fair play, he is on a roll.

comicgeekelly
There is a reason this guy won most improved Booker because he never stops getting better. Although his Shows are not the best his enthralling and addictive Storylines keep readers on the edge of their seats as this Storyline King shows us that he can write with the best.

_-_Magnus_-_
Now this guy has never ceased to amaze me. He is an amazing booker. Although he is not that well known around here he is still going on and has not given up despite the lack of stardom. Tabula Rassa was an amazing PPV with so many twists and turns. And then he produced one of my favourite matches since I delved into the BTB Section. An 8-Man Tag Match. It truly left me in awe. This guy has a seriously bright future in BTB.

The One To Watch Out For
As some may know, WCW Rules is going to bring out his new BTB soon and can I be the first to say I cannot wait. It looks like it will be one for the ages. Good luck mate.

Thanks for taking the time out to read this and I will be back next week with more BTB Picks. Thanks again. Eyebrow.

Twist Of Fate
--------------------------------------------------------------

Ok So I have been thinking about Emperor DC's comments in the chatroom on the recaps subject as well as everybody elses. I am getting pretty pissed off with the whole thing. We are all bookers which personally gives us our own opinion and well I think it is wrong for someone to try and change the opinion of somebody else. Especially with a sort of Flaming in my opinion. The Debate is gettying heated and has nearly gotten to the point where someone will be infracted or banned. I personally see no need for it as everybody has a right to their own opinion. I know about that shit in America about freedom of speech but if you know it is going to turn into a flaming war or something then just shut up and say nothing. I like heated debate. It is god to have on a forum but when something causes controoverysy in a section then it is really bad. People have their own styles and well it does not matter if they have a different opinion to you. If you do not like it then shut your mouth and don't bitch about it in the chat room and in reviews.

That is all for this week, not alot but all I have to say.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Spotlights

--------------------------------------------------------------

Are you a Booker on IWF? It doesn't matter if your CMS or xtremebadass, if you currently have a BTB on IWF PM me for an exclusive interview to be published in a future Magazine.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Diary of a Booker
--------------------------------------------------------------

My name is Magnus, and I'm a BTB rookie. I have belonged to IWF for quite some time and decided only recently that I would try my hand at a thread that seemed very interesting to me, BTB. I had ran my own E-fed before (which actually, in turn, directed me to this site) but BTB isn't like that, at all actually, with the exception of the subject matter.

But enough about me, I'm writing this article to talk about what it is to be a BTB rookie. Something a few people know about, whether it be through trial and error and then giving up, or trial and error and then success. The key to BTB it would seem, at the onset of my booking career, would be to start off on the right foot. So, thats what we talk about this week: The genesis of a federation.

There are a few important factors that go into forming the company that you will use to woo your audience, including the format in which you write, how often you post a show, banners, etc, and many of them are very important. However the ultimate deciding factor that ties itself to the success of a BTB is the selection of the workers your company will use. Now, some of you may of scoffed at me just now, and thats perfectly ok, however most of you just nodded your head in agreement. This brings to mind a couple of questions:

1. Why?

Because the workers for your company are the way you convey 95% of the action and storyline in your BTB, which, let's face it, is the reason anyone wants to read.

2. How?

Carefully. Don't just willy-nilly throw any old scrub or jobber (or main-eventer for that matter) on your roster. Choose wisely!

3. Ok...then who?

Whoever you feel you can portray in a way that the reader will believe. Charismatic characters tend to be easier to pull off, as long as you stay within what would be characteristic for them. However, not every wrestler was blessed with the charisma of The Rock. If your BTB is going to focus more on the action to further the storyline, be willing to put time in to study those workers and do your homework. Big Show should certainly not be using a hurricanrana to floor Rey Mysterio, as that will make the reader go "HUH!?" and then promptly hit the IWF banner at the top of their screen.

In the end, you must decide what style of BTB you want to run and then choose wrestlers based on who you feel comfortable 'playing'. The wrestlers are important, but also consider the non-wrestling workers. I, for example, was a huge fan of WCW and really liked Eric Bischoff. I use him as my company owner and very commonly run promos with him, and they have turned into one of the drawing points of my BTB. Another important aspect to consider at the onset of a BTB is what titles to use. Some BTB's use titles as a 'goal' or 'reward', and they are, but don't forget that titles are also ways to push your workers. The guys holding the titles gain more appreciation from the reader, and thus should not always belong to the big goliath monster on your roster. Proper title usage can really help push workers beyond 'jobber' status into superstardom, regardless of what they are in real life.

Wow, so much to say, but I don't want to over load you, so here is a look at what I will discuss next week:

-My first show
-The start of a feud
-What didn't work

Take care of yourself and those around you, and happy BTBing!

Your first comment is from the competitor, mwahahaha

No but I liked this. Especially since I got a mention from Eyebrow :) Gards seemed to have the same thoughts as me about the recaps, I liked the Diary of Booker, it should be a good help for younger guys, it'll be interesting what comes out of it next time.

And if it can compete with HBK's BTB Kolumn, which is Pure Awesomeness in a Can. Hehehe. I kid, I kid, good luck

A warm welcome to the fourth installment of the IWF BTB magazine, which looks a bit short and slim, which has led me to decide that this will become my own, because I simply cannot deal with members commiting to it and not giving in their work on time.

In this issue is the first part of Spotlights, featuring an interview with the Up and Coming Booker -HBK-, also the IWF BTB Stats, which show which BTB has been the Most Viwed in the past 2 weeks and a few other pearls of BTB wackiness.

Enjoy!

What is your favourite brand in the WWE?
Lethal Combination: I would have to say Raw at the moment, mainly because that's the one I've been watching in the past few weeks and the Booking Team have started to bring back the spark that was in the Attitude Era. Second Place would be Smackdown, solely for a pure wrestling standpoint, and I get to see some of my favourites such as Triple H, Jeff Hardy etc. Third is ECW/
Which wrestler do you think could boost TNA's appearance?

Lethal Combination: At the moment, it would be either Rob Van Dam or Jeff Jarrett. Van Dam because he has started to get quite a bit of publicity since leaving the WWE and could be what TNA is missing. And Jarrett because he could make it exciting again, (as a heel).

LC's BTB Question
--------------------------------------------------------------

Making it's debut in 2 weeks....

--------------------------------------------------------------
Spotlights with -HBK-

Part 1
--------------------------------------------------------------

1.
Hello -HBK- and thank you for allowing me to Interview you for the first edition fo Spotlights. Firstly -HBK- we'll get straight into things. You currently have a BTB called World Wrestling Entertainment: The Second Coming, how is that working out at the moment?

It's going great currenlty. I've decided I can't be fucked doing 2 brands, so I've fast forwarded straight to Wrestlemania 25. I'm having a hella lot of fun writing it, look out for it.

2.
Many Bookers have enjoyed your style and approach to the world of BTB, even leading you to starting HBK's Kolumn. What made you want to write a Column about BTB?

It was always the type of thing I'd wanted to do, since I enjoy writing it and I have a lot of ideas & opinions about different aspects of BTB. When I came to IWF it was something still in the back of my head, but I figured I'd wait until I wasn't such a noob before I started.

3.
With many Bookers resorting to their make or break BTB, do you think it's a case of taking a break from booking when you reach that stage, or continuing until you find the write style of writing?

I definitely think it's just a case of taking a break. I've had the sort of moments where I have 'quit' in the past, but I eventually returned. If you enjoy BTB enough, the ideas just start flowing to you and you've got to do something with them. I remember the only reason I really started up my new BTB was because I got the idea for the backstroy and really thought I could do something with it.

4.
On a personal level, where do you see yourself in the BTB Hierachy as of right now, and where do you think you could get to in the next 6 months to a year?

I suppose I'm in a strange position right now. I'm known as a booker, but I believe that's mainly thanks to the column. I suppose I'd be somewhere around the middle as of now.

6 Months to a year? A lot can change in that time, but I think if I manage to stick to it and keep to what I have planned, I could at least become one of the Top 10. If I start improving in matches that is.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Final Thoughts
--------------------------------------------------------------

I'd like to thank -HBK- for the Interview so far, and thank everyone for reading, I hope you enjoyed it.

Damn, dude. The BTB Magazine is usually an interesting read. This issue wasn't too bad. A good interview with HBK and the BTB stats were nicely done. It's too bad you can't depend on others to follow through with their duties on a timely basis. Hopefully, the next issue will be a lot better. Good luck with it, man.

That's what you get for doing it bi-weekly. People do have lives, believe it or not.

I'm also sure it would be recieved better by BTB if someone was put in charge that was better known and was not as much of a muppet. (That's me being kind)

Ok 1, you say people have lives, well it is obviously clear you don't, because you always take the time to badmouth the the BTB Section here. If you don't like it then, to put it easy: FUCK OFF!

Onto 2, if I wasn't better known my positions as Power 10 and BTB magazine would have been taken away already. IWF Mod's give everyone opportunities no matter how good they are.

Dude, sorry :( I had it almost done but i had a big day at work and everything fell on me. I will give you my segment next issue.

Ok it's not a problem. I think I can trust you for the next issue.

I'm sorry about the notice, it was my fault. You did a great job with the first part, so I think I can trust you.

Overall, Emperor DC GET THE FUCK OUT.

well usually you are better at this but I understand sometimes relying on people isn't so well... HOpefully it does get a bit better next time but seriously even though its wasn't that long as others this time im not going to bash you and call you a waste of a read because seriously I wouldn't be able to do my BTB and this.. good job  hopefully a great job next week.

But even though you are going alone and trying it only relying on yourself, if you do ever need the "dx" come knocking on my door via pm .. im always here. But its up to you im just saying if you want me im here.

BTB Picks of the Fortnight
--------------------------------------------------------------

THE Brian Kendrick’s Biceps
BKB, already a top Booker. He brought out NEW. A BTB going very strongly at the moment. A great thing already, but just when it seemed it could not get any better, it did. BKB brought out, Redemption. A great PPV, one of the best of the month. Things keep going from great to even greater for this surely Future Booker of Bookers.

Pepsi Plunge
First of all Pepsi Plunge is originally Rated R Superstar and he need to talk to Chuck, so Chuck, if for ever reason you are reading this go talk to Pepsi Plunge! Lol, anyway. He has made a great impact thus far in my eyes by bringing out a very attractive BTB. I can see him going a long way with this. Good luck matey.

Lethal Combination
The Editor of this BTB, Lethal has brought TWA out. The BTB so far has excited me and intrigued me. Though there are a few rough edges and still work needs to be done we hope that the BTB goes as long as hoped and reaches it’s full potential as one of the best around.

The One to Watch Out For
LAURINATES33. A new booker round the block. He has brought out hi new BTB, WWE 2009: Chain Reaction. Looks good thus far and everyone should check it out when he posts a how because so far, his writing skills have wowed me.

Thanks for taking the time out to read this and I will be back next week with more BTB Picks. Thanks again. Beer.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Meet The Team
--------------------------------------------------------------

Who is your favourite wrestler?

Lethal Combination: I have a range from time to time, but I have to go with Kurt Angle. I liked the guy the second I saw him and I still think he is the greatest wrestler at the moment.

Beer: For many this may be a weird decision but my favourite wrestler will have to be Y2J, Chris Jericho. Everything about him, the heat he can get, the pops he can get, the promo after promo after promo he pulls off and hi match are always top class.

Magnus: My favorite wrestler currently would have to be Edge. The man has it all, in ring skill, mic skills, the look, he is the total package. When I hear his theme (Alter bridge is a great band by the way), I know that WHATEVER is about to happen is going to be entertaining.

My favorite wrestler of all time, based purely on sheer menacing factor has to be Goldberg. I was quite young and watched wrestling religiously (still thinking it was 'real') and would always freak whenever Goldberg was going to wrestle. I remember watching him absolutely destroy a random guy by the name of Iceman of Subzero or something, it was sick. I also recall Goldberg vs. DDT from back in the day as being utterly epic, and still holds as one of my favorite matches of all time.

Is MVP ready to be a World Champion?

Lethal Combination: I’m gonna say he isn’t. Mainly due to the fact that well he hasn’t really had a BIG feud yet. Yes you could argue that his feud with MVP last year was big, but it wasn’t really watched with high interest. Once MVP has a BIG feud with someone I see him ready to be a World Champion.

Beer: Hmmmm...... Difficult one this, but I have to say.... yes. MVP has worked very hard since joining the WWE and he has pulled off some impressive runs. I say give him a chance with the title, put him in a feud and see how it works out.

Magnus: As far as MVP is concerned, yes, I do feel HE is ready to hold a World Title, however, I do not feel that WWE is ready for him to. I thought it hurt his overness when HHH reemed him in that promo last week. This proves to me that WWE is still willing to do whatever they must to take care of their son in law, even if it means hurting their rising talent to keep him at the top of his 'game'. I know it's a touchy subject, by I really feel that the promo, as hilarious and great as it was, had a negative effect on MVP and Shelton for that matter. MVP, skill wise is ready to get a title around his waist, whether he can maintain once he gets it is yet to be seen.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Diary of a Booker
--------------------------------------------------------------

Hello fellow BTB fans, its Magnus again, and I'm glad to be back this week on IWF Magazine. This week I’ll be talking about my first show and all those goes along with it. So, without further ado, let's get going!

My first show was a fun, yet nerve racking experience. The 'new' factor definitely made for a great time, but you can only prepare so much, and even then it still is going to feel 'slopped together' at times. My BTB started with an introductory segment by my announcing staff, but hell, who wants to read about how great XCW is going to be? Really? They want action! They want something that sucks them in and makes XCW different and exciting, so I moved very quickly. I wanted my first show to have some of my flair...err...flare. Some of MY pop. Something to sell me to people and make them want to read. So, I felt my best writing was in the form of Cruiser style matches and I used that to bait the hook. Miz vs. Wang Yang. I felt it went well and had a few spots that really sold me as a writer.

Obviously I was wrong.

No one read my first show my first week and actually left a review. NO ONE. I knew it would be tough, but I expected at least some hapless person to fall into the trap and actually feel inspired enough to reply!

Next on the list, a match with some evil! Shelton and Elijah teamed up on Chris Sabin. Shelton assisted Burke and Burke got the win over Sabin. This should create some storyline, right? I was really trying to get a wildcard feud going to start an early push for Chris and Shelton and Elijah. Did it work? Nope, in fact, most people's least favorite part of my first show was the fact that Shelton and Burke had teamed before and didn't really act like I portrayed them. Ouch. It's called research folks, use it. I didn't realize that they had worked together before and it burned me in the end.

Finally, my first show concluded with an old school main event, Edge and Christian. These two men almost write the match themselves. It was easy to write a good match that really flowed and felt in character for these two guys (see importance of roster decisions in first issue). Surely it would sell me and I could get some replies. Nada.

So, in the end what was the point of all this? Good question. GO READ SOME FREAKING BTBS!!!! I make it a habit that as soon as I post my BTB, I go read at least 5 others and leave reviews or comments. I try to read the same ones every week, and supplement that by reading a couple I have never checked out before. The ONLY way you are going to be successful and recognized as a BTB’s is if you help others be successful as well. Tell them what was good, and tell them what needs to be better. Complement them on their successes and especially recognize their attempts to be different, even when they fall on their face.

Next time we talk about:

-The first review
-Comedy in a BTB
-Diesel takes a dump while reading BTB’s

Thanks for reading! Take care of yourself and those around you and happy BTBing!

--------------------------------------------------------------
Spotlights with -HBK-

Part 2
--------------------------------------------------------------

Last issue HBK talked about his current BTB World Wrestling Entertainment: The Second Coming, Bookers resorting to their make or break BTB and where he thinks he will be in terms of booking in the next 6 months to a year. In the final part HBK gives his word on Anigma’s return, the next star in BTB and most importantly, his favourite and non-favourite bookers.

BTB Magazine: Okay welcome back, what are your thoughts on The Anigma returning. Is it good for the Section to have such an experienced booker or will it damage hopes of up and coming Bookers to get in the spotlight?
HBK:

I think it's brilliant. Anigma has helped me a lot with some of my ideas and I'm sure he has with plenty of other people. It may be a hindrance to some bookers getting to the top, but it gives them an extra incentive to try harder and will make the achievement that much greater when they do

BTB Magazine: That's a very nice way of thinking, speaking of bookers getting to the top who do you see getting to the top before the end of the year?

Well without a doubt, NEW. I think BKB has finally got the right formula and after his first PPV it doesn't seem there will be anything to slow down NEW getting to the top

BTB Magazine: Who are your top 3 favourite bookers on IWF?

In no particular order

XBA-I dunno, it's just the way he makes his shows. He manages to make everything the perfect length and his storylines & feuds just add that extra punch to the show. Plus he is a Promo God, and I love reading promos more than matches

WCW Rules-What can I say, he's amazing. He can write up a show like it was a novel, and he keeps you hooked until the very end

THE BKB-NEW is on an unstoppable high at the moment. One PPV in and he's done almost everything right, the introduction of Punk and the non uber-push of Kendrick were big surprises, not to mention his match-writing is immaculate.
