Matt and Jeff Hardy's return to WWE might be happening after all.

Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet reported Tuesday that the organization offered the tag team new contracts, though it's unclear if they will come to terms.

Dave Meltzer said earlier this month on Wrestling Observer Radio that the Hardys were not planning a return.

"They're not going to WWE anytime soon. I do not know the length of the [ROH] deal, but it's not a two-month deal," Meltzer said, per Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc. "They're there [in ROH]."

The Hardys, who left TNA in February after failed contract negotiations, have been working the independent circuit throughout March. They have a deal with Ring of Honor and defeated The Young Bucks for the promotion's Tag Team championships at the Manhattan Mayhem VI event.

It's unclear how long the Hardy's deal with ROH lasts, but it was categorized by Satin as "short term."

With TNA and the Hardys currently embroiled in a legal battle over the "Broken" characters popularized in the promotion, a WWE reunion might make sense. A full-time WWE contract would provide the Hardys financial stability to fight TNA in court, while also protecting them in case of a judgment against them.

However, because of the Hardys' decade-long run in WWE, it's unlikely they would return to television as the "Broken" characters.

I'd have nothing against them returning whether as just Matt and Jeff or as Broken Matt and Brother Nero.

I mean, they could return as regular Hardys and then turn into Broken Hardys later on, I guess.

Never liked the whole Broken Train, so I honestly wont care if they show up and start talking in Broken speak. Would be a skip from me.

If they come back as themselves (which they won't until this cash cow is milked out) then I'd be all for it. They could help the tag division and do some good stuff throughout.

They should come back as the original Hardy Boyz but then eventually Matt should break off and do the Broken Character.

I don't think the Broken gimmick would work as well in WWE. In part because they would not have as much freedom with it as they had in impact. And part because the Wyatts have been doing similar stuff in WWE for years.

I'd think it would be better and safer to at least start them off as the regular Hardys and do the old "pissed off veteran" gimmick for a while and see how things go from there.

The Hardys broken gimmick is way more silly and comI cal than the Wyatts though. I feel like the Broken gimmick would work if they brought the Hardyz back as a the old school team and then split them up with Matt being broken

I think it would be awesome for them to return as the Hardys again. Then, they make a heel turn.

However they return, if they do, I want them to be relevant so having them come back as just plain old Matt and Jeff don't make sense BUT I agree, they can come back as either or and I won't be upset.

Everyone's not the Dudleys. Dollars to doughnuts they'll win the tag team championship in whatever brand they're going to.

And I loved Goldberg 15+ years ago. Now? Meh
