There's certainly a need for SOME big guys. Offering something for everyone is important, There's plenty of people out there who'll get behind a Big E or a Roman Reigns before a small guy; we certainly need massive fearsome wrecking balls like Henry, Brock, or Konnor; nice to have great big "road block" who's so massive that the babyface is always at a disadvantage like Big Show; and even human barbells that get lifted for impressive Cesaro swing spots like Khali. (Though as Cloud said we all believe that a giant can fall to a running knee now.) But they already have more than enough big guys to fill those roles.
I assume they're line of thinking is that they aren't guys you can give big singles' pushes to, and with teams like the Matadores and Usos also being indy-style guys without the charisma to work on their own so adding a third team like that is redundant. Can understand that.
But in 2014, fans are more interested in undercard matches you can look at and say "Hey, this oughta be good!" and there's many more fans are wanting to buy into smaller babyfaces than before. Judging by all the indy guys they've signed WWE knows this. Don't be too worried about this little announcement even though it sucks for the Wolves.
