Sounds like you're either trying to give a bit of a buddy here to Barry and even try to scum shade him at the same time. Why jump to the s/s interaction and not perhaps scum Barry trying to take newbies under his wing? The shade at the end of your post here is a ping to me.

Exploring all possibilities. Experience with Barry suggests it's kind town, but I'll need to see more from him to solidify that, hence the 'generous town lean.'
