Race Update Two:

Lap 21-30

- Jackie is the only driver who pits - and manages to have a 15 seconds pit stop, but loses a lot of time reaching the pits.

​

- Lap 21-24 would take place behind the safety car, before Junior, Tony and Senna would be given a free pass allowing themselves all to unlap themselves by two laps (the yellow flag rule for the championship - a car can unlap itself a total of two laps, if it is not the flag instigator).

- This would mean with all the cars moving behind the safety car that Earnhardt, Sr. was still in the lead. Junior was now just one lap down in 2nd, Senna four laps down in 3rd, Jackie Stewart dropping seven laps down in 4th and Tony Stewart sitting at back in 5th a whopping 12 laps down. The race would then restart with the waving of the green flag at the start of LAP 28 .

- However it would be Tony Stewart who would really knock out a number of quick laps in the next few laps finding himself now just ten laps behind the leader. Jackie Stewart was two laps down on Senna, whilst Junior was one lap down on Senior with 20% now having passed.


Lap 31-37

- With both Earnhardt’s tyres approaching the cliff end of their tyre degradation, it was Junior who would actually start to drop off the pace and instead of being a lap behind his father would really start the fall off the pace and actually find himself four laps behind Senior on Lap 37. Jackie Stewart had been driving conservatively on his fresh tyres and would actually find himself gaining a lap over Junior, as would Senna who would push up into second place.

LAP 37 INCIDENT!

- Ayrton Senna with still about 40% left on his tyres would make a mistake as his Audi GT3 would smash into the outside wall and spin causing the marshall to call for the second caution of the race.

- Senna would have to let Jackie pass him for position as well as the rest of the field once, before turning his car around the right way and heading towards the pits for some necessary repairs to his chassis.

- @Chris Kringle because of the incident you have a mandatory pitstop. [would you like to alter you're strategy?]

- With the C2* tyres that both Earnhardt's had been driving on since qualifying - their respective pit crew would put out their pit boards, reminder both drivers that they needed to put during this yellow flag period.

- @Chuck Bass & @A Mitchmas Story - in line with your tyre/tire strategy, it would be advisable to pit under the caution flag. [you Pit Crew advice you both to alter your race strategies slightly].

- Jackie Stewart having recently pitted, would not benefit from pitting in.

- @Shania Twain you are current last on the grid, halfway through the life of your current tyres. [would you like to alter you're strategy?]​

If I need to pit now I’ll pit now. Not sure how much I need to change about my tires since I think my plan did give me a few extra laps from what I remember in my mind.

Change to C2s while pitting, then change to C3s on lap 82, C3s on lap 116 and pray those get me to the end of the race

You're pit engineer would inform you - that the C1 [hardest compound] have an expected life of 70 laps - and the gap between now the scheduled second pit stop is 75 laps.

C3s are the softest [the concern your pit crew have - is that you you're C1s, which you are planning to change to this caution might deflate before your planned stop onto the C3s]
