Cody really needs to get around to getting his name back from WWE or legally changing it or something.

Simply using Cody worked for the indies for the most part, but you don't want to headline mainstream shows as "Cody."

I don't know if I believe this. I don't know why he'd want to just call himself Cody in his debut PPV title match.

Especially considering he lets Brandi use the Rhodes name on TV. If he didn't want to use it, I'd assume he'd have her just go by Brandi. One of the reasons he does is so when he comes out with her they're billed as Cody and Brandi Rhodes. Which wouldn't technically violate any trademark issues.

I'm fine with him just being Cody bc I think him being a star with just that name is impressive in his own right, but let's not pretend Dusty doesn't get mentioned as his dad all the time so it's not a big deal either way for me....but that logic of it being cool like Cher or Bono when it's just an average ass name like "Cody"

I don’t think he has a reason to lie. If WWE didn’t allow it, come out and say it. Paint them as the evil empire everyone perceives them to be.

I think it's easier to lie than to consistently field questions about it. I know originally there was an issue because he would use Rhodes places US didn't have trademarks or when they weren't taped. Whether or not that changed, I don't know.

I mean maybe he does, but it's generic AF. Elias actually sounds cooler than Cody.

Because it was driving me crazy anyone would voluntarily not use their globally recognized brand I looked it up.

Interesting...my question is, can you trademark someone’s legal name? Cause his legal name is Cody Runnels Rhodes and apparently it has been before he worked for the company.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t change anything but I do find that trademark interesting

Is it? Cause I've often thought that could be a loophole. He probably could beat it and is choosing not.

Yeah i don't think you can legally hinder somebody's ability to make money because it's his legal name. He probably uses Cody to separate it from his wwe character

Pretty sure he's said on Twitter before that he could use Cody Rhodes if he wanted to and WWE has never told him not to use it
