Mae Young Classic Episode 1
August 28th, 2017
Full Sail University: Orlando, Florida

EXZBWQe.png

Commentary: Jim Ross & Lita

Princessa Sugehit ~ She's from Mexico, "Princessa" is female for she was the only woman to train in an all-male gym, and "Sugehit" means queen of the stars. She wants to represent Mexico, and do it while being happy.

Kay Lee Ray ~ She calls herself the "Hardcore Daredevil" She's an 8-year pro, she's here to show off her high-flying, striking and submissions.

First Round Match: Kay Lee Ray vs. Princessa Sugehit
Good first match, lots of lucha spots, fast-paced counters. They bust out the Gorybomb counter into code red like a minute in :lmao Lots of back and forth with Suge wanting to go to the air, and even though Kay can fly she can't hang so she slows Suge down with brutal strikes. Kay hits a really weird running flatline but rolls it into the Coji Cluth but then she randomly breaks it for a boot to the head smh. Suge comes back with the around the world rolling pin, before two head-kicks for two. But she takes too long to follow up with another move which allows Kay to his the awesome widow's peak for two. Senton misses and Suge locks on the armbar for the win. **

Venessa Borne ~ Former PHX Suns dancer, and Cardinals cheerleader. She says she should be here and wants to be the best. She wants to be more than someone on the sidelines.

Serena Deeb ~ She says she got a chance here in 2010, but it was cut a lot shorter due to her alcoholic addiction. She calls this tournament a "Redemption" And will work harder than anyone to show her journey.

First Round Match: Serena Deeb vs. Vanessa Borne
Deeb does a solid job leading the match, Venessa is still really brand new, but as a lot of the basics down. And with her athletic dancer background, she picks up the bumping aspect. She takes over with a headbutt, DAT SAMOAN BACKGROUND! Lots of striking as she works the head, Deeb fights back with strikes, Borne avoids a spear and Deeb takes a nasty bump into the corner that allows Borne to hit a swinging neckbreaker for two. Borne follows up with a Samoan drop but only gets two again, she begins losing focus which allows Deeb to hit the spear for the win. **

Zeda ~ Says she has bullied all her life, and never had that "Superhero" to look up to. So, she took up Martial arts to be her own hero. She's not afraid to take a punch or kick.

SHAYNA "THE QUEEN OF SPADES" BASZLER ~ Been fighting in MMA for 16 years, and for 10 of those years she was ranked in the top 10. Her style has been developed over a long career in MMA, and nothing will change now that she's here. And everyone will find out why she's a LEGIT BADASS! :mark:

First Round Match: Shayna Baszler vs. Zeda
SHAYNA REFUSES THE HANDSHAKE BECAUSE FUCK THAT RESPECT SHIT! They immediately go into trading holds and pretty much tread this as an MMA match. BRUH! This Zeda girl is pretty meh, but she's got an ASS HOLY SHIT! SHYNA COUNTERS A FRONT CHOKE AND INTO A SUPLEX BUT IN MID-AIR FLIPS HER OVER AND CHOKES HER OUT!!!!! BAE-SZLER!

0idtAuC.gif

Jazzy Gabert ~ She's from Germany and had to fight hard for where she is now. When she steps into the ring, she's a different person. She wants the fight and wants to bring total destruction.

Abby Laith ~ She calls Mae Young her inspiration, and that's why she uses Mae Alligator rollup to win her matches. She's the girl that won't back down, she has a strike based style and will do whatever it takes to win. This is her dream.

First Round Match: Abby Laith vs. Jazzy Gabert
Fuckin awesome David/Goliath opening minute, Abby comes right out the gate throwing bombs but Jazzy just shoves her off and throws her around it's great, Abby takes some good looking bumps. Jazzy locking in this nasty looking hold, IDK what it's called but it's like she uses Punk's anaconda vice, but uses Abby's arm to also choke herself out. Nice head and neck control by Jazzy, which also INCLUDES A NASTY RIPCORD ELBOW! But she gets too caught up in the moment, and half-ass goes for the pin, that allows Abby to kick out and mount a comeback. Lots of kicks, to break Jazzy down for the senton splash for two. BUT JAZZY COMES BACK WITH A LARIAT AND GROUND AND POUND! She goes for a gory bomb special, but Abby counters into the Mae Young rollup for the upset. **1/2

Mae Young Classic Episode 2
August 28th, 2017
Full Sail University: Orlando, Florida

Commentary: Jim Ross & Lita

Xai Li ~ She speaks in Chinees, the subtitles say she's very honored to be able to show her unique talents in front of the WWE fans. She studied Kung Fu and Sanda before the art of Chinees MMA.

Mercedes Martinez ~ She says it's about time the world sees what she's all about, you get in her face and she will knock you down. No one can touch her, she's worked too hard to let this slip through her hands.

First Round Match: Mercedes Martinez vs. Xia Li
JR informs us that this is Xia's first match ever, this thing I love about this tournament and WWE, in general, is the generic culture music they pick for the wrestlers, they give Marcedes some awful generic Latin music that doesn't fit her fighter gimmick. And Xia gets some weird marching arm Chinese music. Quick match, Mercedes uses her experience to toy with Xia early, she doesn't take the match serious which allows Xia to sneak in with her strikes. It's really all she does, she doesn't do 1 wrestling move or hold, just all kicks and punches. Mercedes whether that brief storm before hitting a spinebuster and locking in the surfboard with Dragon sleeper for the win. *1/2

Rachell Evers ~ Her dad is Paul Ellering, she didn't watch wrestling growing up as he didn't let her watch or even take her to shows. She hopes to make him proud, she doesn't have a style whatever you want to do she can do.

Marti Belle ~ She moved to NY at 7, she's got that scrappy NY style. She leads the pack and the world will see what a powerful Dominican woman looks like.

First Round Match: Marti Belle vs. Rachel Evers
First real bad match, Belle plays the heel role but she's super inexperienced and moves super slow, lots of mistimed spots and getting caught waiting for the next sequence. Rachel does her best to carry this but it's really not good, I wonder if she started dating Ohno around this time as I can see the influence with elbows and bots. The match ends with Belle hitting a shitty version of the stroke, I didn't know you could make that move look any worse but you can, anyway Rachel kicks out and Belle is in shock, she goes to pick her up and Rachel small packages her for the win. *

Earlier in the week, Tripsgod gives all the woman of this tournament a little pep talk at the PC.

Miranda Salinas ~ She's 5 foot, and was trained by Booker T. It doesn't matter how big you are, she will make you tap every time. And no one will take this from her.

Rhea Ripley ~ She's a MOSH kid UGH! And because of soccer background, she likes to throw kicks, and with her hight, she can KICK PEOPLE IN THE FACE! She turns into a different person when she gets into the ring.

maxresdefault.jpg

She doesn't look like the female Pete Dunne so I can fully get behind her here :mark:

First Round Match: Rhea Ripley vs. Miranda Salinas
Super short, not much direction, just two girls going back and forth hitting hard and trading moves. Pretty different having the smaller girl being the one to control the match and striking with the taller girl having to stick and move. Rhea sticks to her game and uses her lovely long legs to throw pretty sweet dropkicks and running boots to the corner. She hits a sweet head kick and hits Test's full nelson slam for the win. *3/4

Mia Yim ~ Second-Degree black belt in Taekwondo, she's traveled the world. She brings up her Domestic Violence story from last year. She says that didn't break her, and is now using that to show other women they came overcome it. She's here to make her place in the WWE.

Sarah Logan ~ "WHEN IT'S TIME TO GET DARK, SARAH LOGAN GETS PITCH BLACK" She has to kill for what she wants for dinner, she saved money to train in Japan at 18. She works harder than anyone and wants it bad I can see what she doesn't cut the promos in the Riot Squad.

First Round Match: Sarah Logan vs. Mia Yim
Under 10 minutes, its the best match of the night. And Logan's best showing to date, lots of good looking strikes, she's not athletic at all so everything comes off Viking/redneckish and that works for her. Mia is good, she's like top 5 in terms of in-ring in this tournament. They just begin beating the shit out of another with punches and knees, it seems to be the style of trips Indies for 2017 and I love it. Logan makes her first real mistake and tries to get flashy, with an awful cartwheel into god knows what, but she misses and Mia kicks her in the head before hitting Gail Eat-defeat for the win. **1/4

Mae Young Classic Episode 3
August 28th, 2017
Full Sail University: Orlando, Florida

Commentary: Jim Ross & Lita

Toni Storm ~ People don't realize what's inside of her, she takes heads off and isn't sorry.

Ayesha Raymond ~ She can deadlift 463lbs, she sees herself as a black panther, lion hints the makeup. She went from being told she couldn't to here she is.

First Round Match: Ayesha Raymond vs. Toni Storm
Toni is the most over, obviously because of DAT THIGH MEAT! Raymond refuses to handshake, and I'm a little upset she didn't do the Monty Brown sniff the hand like a lion before refusing. Solid opening Ayesha uses her power to attempt to keep Storm grounded who uses her speed, and technical wrestling to be able to get out of holds. Toni uses the ASS TO THE FACE attack to cement herself as my now number 2 in this tournament. Ayesha isn't much outside of the standard power chokes, so her heat is pretty much just choking on the ropes or a double hand choke. Storm makes a nice comeback and rolls up Ray for the win. **

Kavita Devi ~ From India, THE WHOLE OF INDIA IS PRAYING THAT SHE RETURNS AS THE WINNER :lmao She was trained by The Great Khali :lmao:lmao:lmao She has 100% confidence, and don't underestimate her power.

Dakota Kai ~ From New Zealand, she's the girl next door and changes when she gets in the ring. Her style is quick, and strikes and you guessed it. Kicks hard. She's worked 10 years to get here and will do everything to win.

First Round Match: Dakota Kai vs. Kavita Devi
I think this is KD's first match too, and yep I guessed it. She's the female great Khali she pretty much does all his stuff, the arm life spot, head chops and shoves. She does bust out a running the ropes into an armdrag like Eddie, which is fucking hilarious that she goes from Kahli to busting out this out of nowhere lucha move. Kai doesn't really get to showcase herself as they make her the underdog who gets her ass kicked 90% of the match, before hitting a running big boot in the corner followed by a double stomp for the win. *1/2

The Rock's family is at ringside, Mom, Wife, Daughter and BBWJaXXX's.

Bianca Belair ~ She is the roughest, toughest, fastest, strongest, quickest, SHE IS THE E.S.T! Her braid is a "Lethal Weapon"

Sage Becket ~ She gets called a "Witch" but she's a Shaman. She uses the earth, wind, and fire in the ring.

First Round Match: Sage Becket vs. Bianca Belair
Both women come in kinda playing the heel role, BB with the cocky "est" while Saga is a witch, and they're heels anyway. Good back and forth down, they both have the basics down. But this pretty much an extended BB showcase, super mean and aggressive on everything, her facial expressions are on point. She works the back and it's a good time, Sage has a couple of nice power slams but her striking lets her down. Sage attempts to gather the wind and tries a middle rope Vader bomb, but I guess the air was busy and BB avoids, she hits the hair whip and follows up with a spear for the win. *3/4

Santana Garett ~ She says she was told she would never make it, but she put in the work and believed in herself. She hopes this is a platform to show the world what she can do.

Piper Niven ~ From Scottland, she loves being a BBW and doing stuff other women can't do.

First Round Match: Piper Niven vs. Santana Garett
For someone as big as Piper, she really shouldn't be wearing glitter aqua blue. Nice to have Santana back on TV, she's now doing a wonder woman adjace gimmick. This gets under 10, Piper uses her larger frame to control the arm, while SG uses her speed to avoid stuff. Piper takes over with a flying crossbody and works the cravat hold, Santana's comeback is fine, they go back and forth trading moves with SG hitting the eat-defeat to set up a corner splash. The girls along with the agents should really talk to girls about moves they should and shouldn't be using. Piper hits another splash but only for two, she goes for another one off the top, but SG blocks it and hits Trish's 'rana for two. Chickkick to set up a lionsault type move, but Piper avoids and hits the back splash followed by the Michinoku driver for the win. **1/4

Mae Young Classic Episode 4
August 28th, 2017
Full Sail University: Orlando, Florida

Commentary: Jim Ross & Lita

Renee Michelle ~ She wants to show that the woman can be, just as good if not better than the men (I guess she wasn't watching NXT in 2016) She has the charisma, sass, and athleticism to succeed.

Candice LeRae ~ She is the modern day might mouse, she will hurl her body around like a weapon of it gets her the win. She's a high-risk wrestler, she says she made it her herself and not because of her husband Johnny Gargano.

First Round Match: Candice LeRae vs. Renee Michelle
Any woman that will take a superkick to the head with thumbtacks stuck to the bottom will always, have a small place in my heart, so I'm happy for Candice. Candice does a good job guiding Renee, who more than holds her own with her athleticism. She has a lot of the basics down, but still shows her inexperience in things. She does have a couple of nice combo strikes, but she has Miz level of WOAT kicks. Especially when she does the kicks to the chest like the yes kicks. Candice fights back, and it's fine. It's weird that I enjoy Candice fighting men way more than I do woman. She busts out the SUPER DRAGON VIOLENCE PARTY in the corner but clearly has to hold back the punches and chops. Renee misses the middle rope moonsault and that allows Candice to hit a swinging neckbreaker from the middle rope for the win. *3/4

Lacey Evans ~ She takes pride in woman's rights, she isn't a pushover. She doesn't give up.

Taynara Conti ~ She is the first Brazilian, she trained her whole life for this. She uses submissions and 15 years of fighting to destroy everyone in her path.

First Round Match: Taynara Conti vs. Lacey Evans
Conti looks like a young Carmen Luvana so SHE'S ALREADY THE GOAT! :side: She comes out wearing a judo gi suit with a black belt and it's the sexiest thing ever, I didn't even know that was a thing for me. Good to know. Lacey just reminds me of Liberty Bell from Glow. It's pretty much the same gimmick, just less "USA, USA, USA" Lacey isn't good, and just because she's on NXT TV on occasions they have her control which hurts the match a lot. Slowed down boring offense, and it hinders Conti's Judo skills which should be showcased. Lacey hits a Dudebuster for the win. *1/2

Reina Gonzalez ~ Her approach is to be hard-hitting and coming in fast. She brings a strong style and will show no mercy.

Nicole Savoy ~ QUEEN OF SUPLEXES! She talks trash and backs it up, everything shes worked for is paying off.

First Round Match: Nicole Savoy vs. Reina Gonzalez
I think Nicole is supposed to be a heel, but does the babyface smile and listening to the crowd taunt. Reina comes out dressed as a cowboy, well just assless chaps and a black hat. Good story with Nicole trying to throw her suplexes but Reina keeps blocking them with her strength and height advantage. They do stuff for a bit until Nicole blocks a fireman's carry and rolls through into an armbar for the tap out. *

Tessa Blanchard ~ Tessa has grown leaps and bounds from what she was in 2016 and is still slowly morphing into the Tessa that is my favorite wrestler of 2018. She says she doesn't want to be handed anything due to her last name being Blanchard, it's time to make her own name.

Kairi Sane ~ She speaks in Japanese and says wants to show the world what the Japanese style is all about, I take it she hasn't been watching NXT for the past 2 years or WWE for the past 10. She just wants to deliver and be the first Kairi Sane. Her goal is to win and make Japan proud.

First Round Match: Kairi Sane vs. Tessa Blanchard
Best match of the first round, both ladies are evenly matched on everything so. They try to one-up the other, Tessa us super aggressive and nasty in holds and strikes. But she loses focus when things don't go her way allowing Kairi to fight back into it. I love both girls selling of emotions, from pain, to shock when something doesn't work out to yelling to make the hold it seems like they're giving it their all during a submission attempt. Everything just really clicks. Tessa hits a back senton, but barely as you can hear her ass/tail bone hit the mat which only gets two. She misses a kick and Kairi hits one of her own, she follows up with an alabama slam and hits the elbow drop off the top for the win. **3/4

I really hope Tessa signs with NXT in 2019, I really want a rematch.

Mae Young Classic Episode 5
September 4th, 2017
Full Sail University: Orlando, Florida

Commentary: Jim Ross & Lita

Second Round Match: Rachel Evers vs. Abby Laith
Lita name dropping CZW is crazy, this is a good time, Abby plays the vet face, but also the underdog so she has to hurl her body around to knock the bigger woman down. Rachel puts on a far better display here than in her first match, she does a good mix of being the powerhouse but doing flashy moves. With the match being around 5 minutes neither really gets an extended control period, before they start just kicking and punching the shit out of one another. Rachel hits a sweet power slam off the top, but Abby kicks out. Rechel makes the mistake of taunting to the crowd and pumping herself up, which allows Abby to recover and hit a powerbomb followed by the Mae alligator pin for the win. **1/2

Second Round Match: Piper Niven vs. Sarena Deeb
Really good big vs. small matchup, Deeb goes to the headlock early to wear Piper down, but it doesn't work as Piper uses her weight and power to counter everything, so Deeb goes to the air for quick strike moves for near falls. I love after everything Deep for a cover, just in hopes something makes her stay down. She goes for the spear but Piper sees it coming and avoids, she hits the Vader Bomb but Deeb kicks out. Piper then tries a splash off the top, but Deeb avoids, she again goes for the spear but Piper counters in mid-air into the Michinoku driver for the win. **1/4

Second Round Match: Princesa Sugehit vs. Mercedes Martinez
Solid stuff, they work the Lucha style, tons of kicks and telegraphed spots. Mercedes hits 2 of Eddies three amigos but spots on the third and uses the middle rope to assist with a swinging neck-breaker for two. Suge blocks a move off the top, into a DDT for two. She tries to follow up with an arm breaker but Mercedes rolls through and hits a big boot followed by a fisherman buster for the win. **

Second Round Match: Kairi Sane vs. Bianca Belair
Belair uses her power and athleticism to get the better, but she gets too cocky which allows Sane to use her speed and superior striking to fight back into it. BUT BELAIR USES HER WEAVE AND BEGINS WHIPPING THE SHIT OUT OF SANE FOR TREMENDOUS HEAT! FUCK YEAH! Belair is great on offense, lots of suplexes and brutal looking holds only made to look even more brutal due to Sane's flexibility and bumping. Sane blocks a running splash, but getting the knees up and makes a comeback with chops. she attempts a straightjacket choke, but Belair gets out and hits a powerslam for two. Belair does this AMAZING Punchdrunk sell where she can barely stand as Sane begins lighting her up with elbows, but out of instinct hits the RON SIMMONS SPINEBUSTER, AND FOLLOWS UP WITH A 450 FOR TWO. Belair is shocked, which allows Sane to hit her finishing stretch of moves followed by the elbow drop off the top for the win. ***

Mae Young Classic Episode 6
September 4th, 2017
Full Sail University: Orlando, Florida

Commentary: Jim Ross & Lita

Second Round Match: Toni Storm vs. Lacey Evans
Solid stuff, Toni uses her experience and legs early on but gets too cocky when going to the ass to the face, which Lacey counters into a roll up for two. Lacey half ass works the arm like she would do an arm move but then do some random body kicks or slam Toni' head into the ring, before going back to the arm. So it's all filler until the Storm comeback, and to her credit, she pretty sells the arm for the rest of the match. Lacey keeps going for the sit-down driver but Toni counters into a head kick and hits the strong zero for the win. **

Second Round Match: Mia Yim vs. Shayna Baszler
Mia falls into Baszlers trap early by extending strikes, and it backfires. Until she smartens up and goes more to the aerial assault to takeover. Mia keeps going back to the strikes, which is part of her style but she can't match up to Shayna which keeps allowing her to get back in, and the only real success Mia has is with wrestling. They begin trading big throws and kicks until Shayna locks in a brief anklelock hurting the ankle, but Mia rolls through and hit a powerbomb for two. Mia goes for a 450, but Baszler blocks by getting the knees up, and locks in the rear naked choke for the win. **

After the match; the two horsewoman factions get into a little bit of a yelling match.

Second Round Match: Rhea Ripley vs. Dakota Kai
Good mat wrestling, feeling out to start, with neither girl rushing into anything. Kai uses her speed to frustrate Ripley, but Ripley locks the running apron kick into the electric chair position and slams her whole upper body into the ring apron:mark: She has a good control and they do some really good big/little spots, like Kai keeps using her speed to avoid moves but she goes for one run too many and Ripley catches her with a sweet power move to regain control. Kai makes a nice comeback with kicks, the match ends when both woman fighting up top with Ripley going for a superplex but Kai knocks her down into the tree-of-woe position and she hits the double stomp like Low-Ki use to do for the win. **

yPnhAvT.gif

Second Round Match: Candice LeRae vs. Nicole Savoy
Poor Candice her gimmick is just "Mrs. Johnny Wrestling" instead of the adorable girl next door, that has so much heart that she excelled at in PWG. Goes around 5 minutes and is good, Nicole is super cruel with her offense, tons of suplexes and strikes. Candice is great at bumping so she makes everything look even more brutal. Candice has to use her speed and knowledge of holds to get separation, and just seems like she's trying to tire Nicole out. And she does, before hitting the swinging neckbreaker from the middle rope for the win. *3/4

Mae Young Classic Episode 7
September 4th, 2017
Full Sail University: Orlando, Florida

Commentary: Jim Ross & Lita

Quarter-Finals Match: Abby Laith vs. Mercedes Martinez
Decent match, nothing amazing, they go back and forth trading big strikes. Kinda weird that Lita and JR bring up Mercedes's previous hurt shoulder, it was hurt in the last round but she also took 2 years off to recover from surgery. They talk about it the whole match, but Abby barely works it. Like a few kicks to the arm, but that's about it. Only another thing I can think of is Mercedes takes a few bumps on the arm, but it's not blatantly obvious. Abby hurts her knee after hitting a dive to the floor, with her knee hitting the ramp so she has a bit of a limp, that allows Mercedes to roll through her gator roll up and hit a fisherman buster for the win. **

Quarter-Finals Match: Candice LeRae vs. Shayna Baszler
Just under 4 minutes but rules, Baszler is super cocky and violent, so she doesn't take Candice serious at all, that allows Candice to do what she does best and that's be an underdog who has to curl her body around and try submissions. She goes for the swinging neck breaker from the middle rope, BUT SHAYNA COUNTERS IT IN MID-AIR INTO THE CHOKE FORCING CANDICE TO TAP. **1/2

CzXRtfU.gif

Quarter-Finals Match: Piper Niven vs. Toni Storm
Starts with the super indy test of strength spot, you know the one, do the double shoulder down, leading to the bridge spot, leading to piper putting all her weight on the bridge. Leading to them both bridging out at two. Piper begins using her weight to wear Toni down, she mixes up between mid-section and neck work. Toni hits a desperation backstabber, which allows her to make a comeback, but she can't get her up for the German which allows Piper to hit a flash Michinoku driver, but Toni kicks out. Piper follows up with a cannonball. But takes too long to follow up with a Vader bomb which allows Toni to recover and hit the German, followed by the big leg drop for the win. **1/4

In the parking lot, 3 of the 4 horsewomen from both stables exchange words. See you can't take thots anywhere.

Quarter-Finals Match: Kairi Sane vs. Dakota Kai
Good feeling out to start, it forces Kai to work more heel as Sane is super over. It's also the best she looked, her gimmicks is kicking and she really gets to show off her unorthodox kicks. Sane is great in bumping, she's also still 1 of the best at facial expression, I put her with Sami as two of the best of all time all selling emotions with their face. They pretty much go back and forth trading moves and strikes with both girls getting a good amount in, Kai has the corner double stomp scouted so, she avoids it and hits a sweet flying forearm off the top for two, Kai misses the corner kick and Sane counters it into the Alabama slam followed by the big elbow for the win. **3/4

Kinda becomes a crucial part of her character when she hits NXT. She hits the “hair whip” in almost every match she has

I'm fine with her using it in every match when the time is right. I just don't want it to become watered down like the bucks did to the superkick. Or Ohno with elbows.

I'm fine with her using it in every match when the time is right. I just don't want it to become watered down like the bucks did to the superkick. Or Ohno with elbows.
From what I’ve seen(granted I haven’t watched NXT in like 6 weeks) she’s throws one a match when her opponent is struggling to get to their feet.

Definitely wouldn’t wanna see 87 hair whips a match

Mae Young Classic Episode 8
September 4th, 2017
Full Sail University: Orlando, Florida

Commentary: Jim Ross & Lita

Video package hyping up Mercedes/Shayna.

Semi-Finals Match: Shayna Baszler vs. Mercedes Martinez
SHAYNA SHAKES HANDS FOR THE FIRST TIME! The match is built up as teacher vs. student, with Mercedes being the one that helped train Baszler. Mercedes comes out the box big mad and really lays her shit in, nasty chops and forearms and it ruled. It's the classic, I taught you everything you know, but not what I know. So, Mercedes is 1 step ahead for the most part. It's the most dominated Shayna has been all tournament, and it throws her off a bit. She eventually gets something going with suplexes and locks in an ankle lock into a heel hook, but MM fights out and locks in the regal stretch, but Shayna elbows out. They begin exchanging strikes, with Mercedes hitting a desperation fisherman suplex but can't follow up cause her knee is hurt, which is hilarious that now she sells the knee 2 minutes later. She goes for it again, but Shayna now has it scouted and kicks her in the face. She then hits the falcon arrow into the rear naked choke and Mercedes taps. **1/4

Video package hyping up Toni/Kairi

Semi-Finals Match: Kairi Sane vs. Toni Storm
Real good mat wrestling to start, it's not the smoothest, but it works as it gives it that sense of desperation. And with it being a first time meeting it makes a lot of sense. Toni wins that being the bigger girl at 5'2 :lmao, but Kairi comes back with speed but Toni hits an armbreaker, which is briliant cause if she can't hit the elbow she can win.................BUT! She doesn't follow up with arm work, instead follows up with uppercuts smh. Kai again uses the speed to counter some stuff and hits a big crossbody to the floor, before locking in the Boston crab, but Toni makes the ropes. Neither girl really sells a thing, but tbf they did an awful job on control like all the moves and striking is fine, but don't waste time with these holds or "something" breaker just to drop it 0.1 seconds later. Late in the match, Toni hits a muscle buster with a bridge but Kairi kicks out at two, she then goes for the ground zero but Kairi blocks it, she goes for a backhand pimp slap but Toni grabs the arm and locks in the same armbreaker Ciampa was doing in 2016, it looks super brutal. Kairi ends up getting to the ropes to break the hold, Toni follows up with the big leg drop off the top, but huts herself in the process and can't follow up, which allows Kairi to recover and hit the spinning back fist, followed by a modified sharpshooter, but has to break cause now her arm is hurting :lmao So after she drops the hold, she heads up top and hits the elbow drop for the win LOL. Super disappointing. **

Mae Young Classic Episode 9 - FINALS
September 12th, 2017
Las Vegas, Nevada

Commentary: Jim Ross & Lita

Finals Match: Shayna Baszler vs. Kairi Sane
Baszler uses her strength and superior mat skill to toy with Kairi early, but Kairi uses her speed and experience to get out of holds. It's a nice feeling out start, but the match really picks up once Shayna goes to the arm, lots of nasty arm pulls and holds. Everything she does is super brutal, but dammit Kairi barley sells it's like the last match all over again. Sane has some nice comebacks, what she lacks in selling she really makes up for in facial expressions and bumping. She finds Shayna's weak spot as she begins targetting the mid-section, and I'll tell you what she and Ronda really should teach classes on selling. It's tremendous at times. They build the match as Shayna being one step ahead the whole match, but she's too relaxed and her dragging it out ends up backfiring in her face. Kairi is the first to break out of the rear-naked choke, as she elbows the mid-section to break free. Kairi hits the Low-ki double stomp from the corner position for two, she then hits her finishing sequence and hits the elbow drop off the top for the win. **1/4

As a result of this, Kairi now gets to be in the vacant woman's title match at NXT Houston.
