I remember going to see Grindhouse for my birthday we snuck a 24 pack of budlight into the theater and I was trying to impress someone and I kept confusing Patrick Swayze with Kurt Russle.

Your favorite movie theater experience?

Honestly can't think of a moment that sticks out. Seeing the Matrix Reloaded when it first came out was great as I was a big fan of the first film, it was the first time I got into the cinema underaged, and there were tons of people dressed as Neo and Morpheus.
Sadly, the third film is an experience I'd rather not relive.
Other moments I suppose would be seeing the Superbad trailer for the first time. I don't think any trailer has sold me as hard as that one upon first viewing, probably because of me and my mates reaction to them making a movie worryingly close to our social lives

Also, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, if only for me and my mate being the only two people in the cinema under 50 and laughing our asses off when they decided a condom advert would be appropriate.
EDIT: And I've only ever seen Avatar in 2D, that REALLY exposes how cliched it is. No fancy effects to hide behind now.

Avatar looked great visually, but as far as the story, I liked it better when it was called Pocahontas.
Fuji so what if the main characters fell in love. That's what happens in pretty much every story. It was fantastic graphics and a compelling story. I just can't see why you didn't like it.
Well, the most memorable theater experience I can think of is going to see Click. The theater was packed, there was literally only one seat left and it happens to be next to this large scary-looking dude who happened to be... the Cuban Assassin, lol. Cuban Assassin, Jr. actually I believe it was. Not sure how many people here actually know who the Cuban Assassin is, but I figure some of the Canadian folk will and he's not exactly a friendly looking dude, lol, and apparently according to my friends who were sitting near there he gave me a mighty dirty look when I sat down. .:tongue1:
Because I've seen it 100 times before and, as Troy so perfectly mentioned, it was better when it was Pocahontas. Hell, another film that came out the same year as Avatar, District 9, is basically the same story and is done so much better.

I would say my favorite experience in a theater was going to see Scary Movie 2. It was back in the day when I was doing a lot of shit so it made the whole experience hilarious. I remember I couldn't stop laughing at James Woods reaction when he walked into the room and looked at the girl and said "fuck this" as he started to walk out. I laughed at just that throughout the whole movie. The best part was there was only about 20 people in the theater and I assume we were all high cause everyone was laughing like a little school girl.

My best theater experience was also my worst, if that makes any sense at all. It was when I saw LOTR: Return of the King. A local theater was showing all 3 LOTR movies in succession. My buddies and I, the nerds that we are, thought "Omg, we're so there." About a quarter of the way through the 2nd movie, we realized what a bad idea that was lol.
But, it was cool because people were all in costume and making the whole thing fun.
My best theater experience was also my worst, if that makes any sense at all. It was when I saw LOTR: Return of the King. A local theater was showing all 3 LOTR movies in succession. My buddies and I, the nerds that we are, thought "Omg, we're so there." About a quarter of the way through the 2nd movie, we realized what a bad idea that was lol.
But, it was cool because people were all in costume and making the whole thing fun.
For me it has to be Casino Royale. It was the first night it was out and going in, the entire theater (packed full) was muttering about how awful it might be, following Die Another Day. However, when the gunbarrell shot appeared, the crowd erupted. The audience was captivated the entire time, and the moment that I remember best is the wave of laughter during Bond's torture sequence.
"I've got a little itch, down there... would you mind?"
"NO!!!! NO, to the right, to the right!!!"

The Phantom menace the first time it came out. I stood in line for 3 hours to get in on opening night and the atmosphere with everyone dressed up and seeing the film because I didn't get to see the originals in the theater except for the re-releases was amazing. Listening to the audience when Qui Gon died was great along with every fight scene in it I felt like I was at a wrestling show and the film as horrible as it was got a standing ovation.
I also got to go see a pre-release of Blair Witch 2 which the film was horrendous but I got an ass load of loot from the producers like little pamphlets about Pars Rock and the girl that drowned along with glow sticks and book of matches and the best part was it was free as long as I had the little slip to get in from the body piercing place which I had so i didn't have to buy a ticket for that turd of a movie.
