The show opened with a promo from the newly crowned WWE Undisputed Champion, the “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes who cut an emotional promo about archiving the goal that his father the “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes didn’t that being a world champion in the WWE.

He asked Smackdown GM Adam Pearce to come down to join him in the ring and the latter did just that. Rhodes said that he could appear on both brands but he only wanted to defend the WWE Championship and as a result he handed the Universal Championship to Pearce who left with it. Rhodes closed the segment by revealing a new updated version of Winged Eagle belt but it had the red, white and blue of his neck tattoo included in it; he then said the old version was retired.

Match 1: Imperium V The New Day
The trio of the WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther, Giovani Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser collectively known as Imperium took on the New Day in six man tag team action. While Kingston brawled with Gunther and Woods did the same with Vinci at ringside back in the ring, E laid out Kaiser with the Big Ending for the pinfall victory.

Owens knocked Carrillo off the apron and then tagged in Zayn then dragged Garza up and hit a Stunner. Then Zayn followed it up by grabbing Garza and hit a Blue Thunder Bomb for the pin.

This was a showcase of two things, first Tozawa’s in ring skills and also that Rhodes would take on any and all challengers. Despite a good showing from the challenger, Rhodes put him down with the Cross Rhodes for the pin.

Smackdown GM Adam Pearce came out to the ring and he had a belt shaped covered object in his hands. He revealed that the old WWE Universal Championship had been retired and then he revealed it’s replacement by taking the cloth off of the title he had brought to the ring.

It was the original good old big gold belt, however there was one change as the title now said WWE Universal Heavyweight instead of World Heavyweight Championship. Pearce went on to announce that a five way match would take place as the main event to crown the first WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion.

Theory grabbed his opponent’s mask and pulled it off and while Axiom covered his face the former rolled him up with a handful of tights for the pin.

Backstage Omos bumped into Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin and the big man told him to meet him in the ring.

As soon as the bell rang MVP got his cane and shockingly hit Omos with it and then if that wasn’t enough Bobby Lashley came out to the ring and entered it. He laid Omos out with a Spear and then he along with MVP, Alexander & Benjamin beat him down.

AJ Styles V Edge V Finn Balor V Rey Mysterio V LA Knight
Edge and Mysterio beat Balor down until the Judgment Day came out and returned the favor which brought out the other members of the L.W.O leading to a huge brawl which essentially took all three of the men out of the match. Which left Styles to get the better of Knight by trapping him in the Calf Crusher and Knight tapped out.

Backstage Thea Hail was attempting to hype up Andre Chase & Duke Hudson about how they will bounce back from their loss last week. Which Alpha Academy up and they talked trash about the trio which led to Hail telling them to meet them in the ring with a partner.

The conclusion of this triple threat match where the WWE IC Championship was on the line saw the defending champion retain. Gunther(c) would get the better of E and Powerbomb onto Bate and then pinned the former.

Shinsuke Nakamura
A fatal four way number one contender(s) match closed the night which saw the quartet of Carmelo Hayes, Johnny Gargano, Seth Rollins and Shinsuke Nakamura face off.
The match went just shy of twenty five minutes and each man had their respective time to showcase their in ring skills. It saw a series of finishers lead to the conclusion, Hayes hit Nothing but Net on Gargano, which led to Rollins laying him out with the Curb Stomp. Finally this allowed Nakamura to capitalize on the situation and hit the Kinshasa on Rollins for the pin.

Theory attempted to win the same way he did last week but when he pulled the mask off of his opponent this time Axiom had another mask on underneath it. This irritated Theory which allowed Axiom to roll him up for the pin.

Backstage SD GM Adam Pearce announced that Edge, Rey Mysterio and Finn Balor would compete in the main event with the winner facing Styles for the WWE Universal Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank.

MVP actually paid Wagner off and he left before the match began and as a result it turned into a two on one handicap match. Which saw MVP distract Omos and this allowed Lashley to Spear him for the pin.

Backstage LA Knight demanded to have a one on one match for the title with Styles at Money in the Bank but GM Shawn Michaels said maybe if he beats Styles in a non-title match next week he would think about it.

Backstage the gm of Monday Night RAW Shawn Michaels announced several qualifiers for both the men’s and women’s MITB Ladder in the Bank matches. Carmelo Hayes versus Johnny Gargano and Seth Rollins versus Grayson Waller for the men’s while for the women’s Alexa Bliss V Blair Davenport and Piper Niven & Nikki Cross V Carmella & Dana Brooke.

Match 1: Mr. MITB Qualifier
Carmelo Hayes w Trick Williams V Johnny Gargano w Dexter Lumis
The match between “Can’t Miss” Carmelo Hayes and “Johnny Wrestling” aka Johnny Gargano was one hell of an opening contest. It was evenly split right down the middle in terms of support from the WWE Universe and it lasted about twenty minutes. Both men would become distracted by Williams getting in the face of Lumis at ringside which resulted in the latter choking the former out and when the ref signaled for them both to leave the ringside area Lumis just dragged Williams to the back. Back in the ring Gargano and Hayes brawled and eventually ended up with the former trapping the latter in the Gargano Escape only for Hayes to reverse the pressure and forced his opponent's shoulders to the mat.
Winner: Carmelo Hayes

Backstage the Viking Raiders demanded sacrifices to Odin in the form of opponents and Braun Strowman and Ricochet walked up and said they would kick their asses.

Match 2: Braun Strowman & Ricochet V The Viking Raiders w Valhalla
The duo of Rowe and Warbeard manhandled Ricochet and threw the “One & Only” around the ring and hit a series of double team moves. Eventually Ricochet was able to tag in Strowman and the tide turned as the “Monster Amongst Men” ran wild and threw both of his opponents around the ring. In the end though the big man would fall victim to a huge double powerbomb and was pinned by Warbeard.

Backstage Grayson Waller got in the face of his opponent in the MITB qualifier Seth Rollins who laughed and then slapped the arrogant aussie in the face and walked off.

Seth Rollins V Grayson Waller
It looked like Rollins had the match won after laying out Waller with a Buckle Bomb and as result of this he had his opponent in the perfect position for the Curb Stomp. However he would be distracted by Carmelo Hayes who came down to ringside and this allowed Waller to roll out of the ring. As Rollins turned his attention to Hayes, Waller recovered at ringside and then launched himself back into the ring and hit his Rolling Thunder Stunner for the pin.
Winner: Grayson Waller
Post-Match
As Waller left the ring and Rollins began to recover, Hayes climbed up onto one of the top turnbuckles and proceeded to launch himself off of it and hit Nothing but Net on Rollins. He then got back to his feet and demanded a microphone, and got down beside Rollins and said that this was payback for costing him his shot at the WWE Championship last week.

Becky Lynch V Chelsea Green V Piper Niven V Tegan Nox
Back from break and a four way Mrs MITB qualifier which saw the quartet of Becky Lynch, Chelsea Green, Piper Niven and Tegan Nox face off. The trio of Lynch, Niven and Nox went back and forth meanwhile Green spent most of the time avoiding any in ring action. The conclusion saw Niven lay Lynch out with the Piper Driver but before she could attempt a pin she was grabbed by Green who thrown her out of the ring onto Nox and then pinned Lynch.
Winner: Chelsea Green

Backstage the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn cut a promo where they said they couldn’t wait to face the Viking Raiders at the PLE. Then went on to issue an open challenge for their titles tonight.

Bliss hit a Taste of Bliss (Snap DDT) effectively laying Davenport out and then dragged her over to one of the corners and then climbed up to the top rope. From here she attempted her Twisted Bliss finisher only for Davenport to roll out of the way and as Bliss crashed to the mat Davenport returned to her feet. The main event saw the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championship on the line when the defending champions Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn(c) went up against Chase U who had Thea Hail in their corner. This was by no means a squash match in the favor of the champions as the duo of Andre Chase and Duke Hudson held their own for the majority of the duration of the match. The ending of the match came about after Chase became distracted when Alpha Academy came out and Gable yelled at him which allowed Owens to hit a Stunner for the pin.
