Right my friend here goes my comment on your first episode of SmackDown. I am looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us.
-The tournament - I love this as an idea and I love tournaments, so much so I have to stop myself from making too many in my BTB so that is it realistic. The eight participants are really interesting and I love the inclusion of Paul London in particular. I hope this means he may get some sort of push coming up. Without knowing what the bracket is I like the idea of Kurt Angle winning.
-Carlito beating Big Show - Looks like you are set on making new stars and I am all for it. It might have been a countout win but they all count although it makes me think it is more likely he will take on Eddie Guerrero rather than Paul London as you revealed the graphic. I am intrigued to find out.
-Chavo Guerrero and the Cruiserweight division - One of the biggest things I see in BTBs is the Cruiserweight Championship actually meaning something and the same looks like it might be happening here. The promo from Chavo Guerrero was great and I am fine with Paul London losing I think now (I know, what a U-turn), as it makes more sense to have him help the Cruiserweight division for now.
-Haas and Hardcore - I like these two as a team. I always think contrast works and you have the amateur background and technical skills of Haas meshing with the brawling, rough nature of Hardcore Holly. I hope they stay as a team and get some serious momentum as the tag team scene was pretty threadbare during this period, especially with two sets of titles.
-Angle's win and debut of MNM - I enjoyed this and I was glad that Angle is the man progressing in the tournament. I was okay with the dusty finish for this as well, not my usual taste, because you debuted a new trio and have tried to make a real impact with them. Eddie making the save immediately sets up a tag team match which signals to me Eddie isn't winning the tournament. I'm just wondering why you changed Mercury to Matthews? I'm imagining there is a reason.
-Cena closing promo - There was nothing too remarkable about this and for that reason, I would have swapped the last two segments and had the match close the show rather than this promo. I'm looking forward to the new belt, I imagine you're just going with the spinner to mirror real life which I have no issues with.
I really enjoyed this show and I think I am more invested in SmackDown with the likes of Angle, Rey, Eddie and Cena involved who were always my favourites when I was growing up. Really interested to see what direction you go with the blue brand in the coming weeks.
