Sweet Bird of Youth (1962) Chance Wayne (Paul Newman) returns to his roots in Saint Cloud with Hollywood actress Alexandra DiLago (Geraldine Page). He's blackmailing her with a recording of her admitting to smoking Moroccan hashhish, which was a federal crime at the time. It will be in the papers. It could ruin her comeback and he wants her to cast him movies and make him a star. It's all a half baked scheme by Chance to try make it to the big time.

He's returing to St. Cloud because he wants to reunite with his love Heavenly Finley, daughter of political boss Thomas J. Finley. Thomas Finley knows they are in love but he doesn't want Chance anywhere near his daughter. Years prior, Finley gives Chance a one-way ticket to New York and one hundred dollars to get him out of his hair. Finley is in a tough re-election race against Burgess Haven Smith and Chance Wayne marrying his daughter is a front-page scandal waiting to happen.

While the film gets the audience to root for the protagonist I can understand Finley's motivations for breaking up the relationship: Chance is a playboy who makes empty promises he couldn't keep and galavants with women far too much. He simply isn't husband material and since Finley is in the public eye a scandal of Chance galavanting around with another woman will make front page headlines in the local paper and ruin Finley's political career.

The Wild One (1953) A biker gang invades a small California town of Hollister and wreaks havoc on its citizens simply because they felt like it. Johnny (Marlon Brando) is the leader of the motorcycle gang BRMC and they harrass and threatne the law abiding residents. The local police have never been in this situation before and are powerless to stop it.

It's gotten a lot of rave reviews as a classic film but I couldn't find myself engaged with The Wild One. The latter half of the movie becomes a sappy love story between Kathy and Johnny. When Sheriff Singer interrogates Kathy because Johnny was involved in a riot where an innocent bystander was killed and asked her about it, she said she didn't see anything. Then the Sheriff asked her point blank whether she has any feelings for Johnny. Also, the law abiding citizen Charlie was portrayed as a bully with a mean streak.

I wish they would hurry up and make a sequel. Awesome non-mainstream hero

PS. I hated that b*tch who acted liked Hancock betrayed her on purpose. He was attacked and lost his memory. Romantic subplot sucked

Wasted an hour and a half of my life watching Baywatch w/Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron. Luckily I got an hour of it back when the clocks turned back.

Don't waste your time on this film.
But you'll never get your time & money back from watching the new Terminator film?

?

Star Trek: First Contact (1996)
Its definitely one of the more "brainless" Trek films...& it does feel
like two separate Next Gen episodes squashed together...BUT...
it is still VERY entertaining & the effects still hold up REALLY well.

The Borg Queen is an interesting "idea" but I'm not sure if Trek
ever used it to its full potential. I know she showed up again in
Voyager...but the Borg were basically neutered by poor writing
at that point.

Anyway...I've been enjoying my Star Trek as of late so this film
was an enjoyable Friday night watch.

Dark Was The Night (2014)
A cold, stark, artistically shot, modern day creature feature...
Seriously where has this film been for the last 5 years of my
life? This is the kind of film I would make if I was actually a
filmmaker.

Awesome Out Of 10!
