Yeah, this happened a little while ago, and I'm sure you've all heard about it by now. It's not really surprising how much of a joke this is being treated as because it's pretty ridiculous, really sucks for some people that weren't even involved though. What do you guys think of this, who's at fault and such?

It's not a shutdown according to Foxnews, it's a slimdown. Because if you phrase it better, you can work dumb marks all day. As an outsider, I see Republicans/Tea party at fault, because they wanted to shut down government because Affordable healthcare was coming and it seems they just don't want people to be able to afford health services for roughly $50 a month.

I honeslty don't see what the dealis about universal healthcare, if you ask anyone from any country that has it, are they going to say they want American style healthcare that requires insurance or your fucked, or you will have to pay an arm and a leg for literally an arm and a leg.

As a Canadian, I busted up my collarbone, and I got it operated on and still have a plate on it to this day, and it didn't cost me anything, the insurance I also had made sure I was fine when I wasn't able to work. If I was American, the surgery would put me in the poorhouse and send my insurance skyhigh and not be able to have any.

I do agree that it's the Republicans fault even though I almost agree with what they're point is, but they went about it the complete wrong way because almost every republican in the government is a fucking dumbass. A major issue in this besides the bill is also the debt ceiling and whether to raise it or not.

And the problem with Obamacare isn't even really in the bill itself, it's that big name companies have already been able to find loopholes (I feel like this isn't even the Republicans argument though) such as cutting a lot of workers to just part time so then they wouldn't have to provide healthcare since it would only be for full-time workers.

The principles of the Republicans here aren't even that bad, but the execution was terrible and they're the complete heels in the situation as even people who vote Republican are blaming them completely. Also, lol Fox News :lmao they're blaming the whole thing on Obama.

My mom actually works at the IRS for over 25 years I think and she went in to work today. Apparently, some people higher up are still going to work but they just aren't getting paid for it or at least that's what she tells me. She said that when they sign the bill though, they'll pay her back. I actually have not been paying much attention at all to this story though.

I dont understand so many Americans reluctance to universal health care that seems to have lead to this situation. Is having healthy people that can afford surgeries and medication really a bad thing to the rednecks?

Its a stigma from back to the cold war days. A lot of Americans believe universal health care is communistic agendas. On the other hand, it also means doctors will lose income, because now they have to do the job that is expected of them, without being able to tack on additional charges like an auto body shop.

As for the government workers, like CaptainxBumout said, most are working to rule, like the borderguards(is this really somewhere you want people barely working?, actually shocked Zeb hasn't brought this issue up yet) and will be paid retro when(if?) government starts up again.

The issue that worries me, is all those countries the Americans have pissed off, that are laughing about the fact the American Government has been destabilized. How many different terrorist organizations have been saying that is exactly what their agenda was for over a decade now? The longer this goes on, the more danger the American people could be in.

Congress is an absolute joke on both sides. It's disgusting what they get for doing nothing. Regardless, I am firmly against Obamacare and universal health care in general for numerous reasons. That being said, I think Republicans might need to concede defeat on this issue for now. Congress won't be happy until the country is careening off the edge of a cliff into the abyss.

Could you elaborate on why you're against universal health care? Everyone else seems for it so far so I feel like it'd be best if you'd state your case a little more.

Not sure why people wanting their fellow citizens being healthy and getting covered in case they break is evil.

But than again, I benefit from universal healthcare. What do I know.

I honestly don't remember the shutdown of 96, kind of odd how the gevernment has these types of problems when Democrats are in the Whitehouse. Kind of like the other side acts like the kid losing Risk and flips the board when they don't get their way. Why didn't the Democrats do this when America invaded Iraq? Or when Reagan gave weapons to terrorists? Wonder if Obama gets an impeachment hearing during his last year for nothing like Clinton?

Guewssing that is a concession made by Democrats, since they are sackless bitches who don't stand up for themselves.....worst thing about Liberals and moderates is that they do not want to get down and dirty and fight.....fucking hippies.

Heard their website was shit on launchdate and the server crashed alot, incomptetance galore from one side, but sheer lunacy from the other. I will not talk shit about AMerica anymore, you don't kick em when they are down,
