Nearly a month ago, Paul "Triple H" Levesque returned to the WWE Performance Center and told people there "I'm back," which some took to mean he was back involved with the NXT brand.

In this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that apparently isn't the case.

Meltzer said that it appears Levesque meant he was back working in the WWE offices as he hasn't done anything directly with the old black and gold brand since making that statement. He hasn't been at Tuesday night shows as everything is still being run by Shawn Michaels and a small creative staff.

According to the late-June reports, Levesque said that he was in Orlando for business reasons and couldn't say why at that time. He was previously in charge of NXT before the 2.0 rebrand last September.

With a lesser workload, Levesque returned to the office in March after suffering a major cardiac event last year that nearly killed him. He also announced he was retiring from in-ring action due to his heart issues.

Levesque has been one of the faces of WWE's NIL program, designed to recruit college athletes, and will be on hand for their next tryout during SummerSlam week in Nashville, Tennessee.

Not really shocking to me with everything's that happened. Office job probably better for him, that stress of weekly TV was probably no joke. Seems as though he's still on the "developmental" side too, just doing more with that recruiting

Feel like they're pretty dialed in with 2.0 so wouldn't make sense to make any significant shifts or changes by bringing him back. Being part of recruiting the athletes and the tryouts is probably a good gig for him.

If Shawn is still running it, I doubt it'd change much. I can't see them having much issues on philosophy and I'm sure without the health issues he'd have stayed and worked with the changes but that's obviously guess work by me

Saw something the other day where it said he was still running and loving it. They probably do share the same visions themselves but they're still supposedly following orders, to what degree I don't actually know so i'm sure it's best for all parties to stick with what they have going right now.

Yeah I would be absolutely flabbergasted if Shawn wasn't running everything by HHH that he's doing even if it's just as a friend and not an official capacity. "Not directly" in this context is probably best interpreted as just "not at weekly TV" since he's more often than not working out of the corporate offices

I never took this as a I'm back to NXT, I always took it as him telling a group of people that he'd worked closely with that he was better and would resume day to day. Which is apparently exactly what it was. Dirt Sheets blew it up for no reason.

I actually started wondering if he was back when I saw that they were pushing Devlin against Bron.
