As I said before France didn't put it forward, and boy did it backfire on them. If they had done not only do I think it would have made the list, but it possibly would have won as well. You are right Adele should have been nominated, her and Blanchett have produced the best two performances I have seen this year. Sadly for whatever reason the Academy rarely nominate Foreign films or actors in the leading cataogories.

I will make my predictions soon.

I've yet to see Nebraska or Philomena yet but here's how I'd rank the Best Picture nominees without those two.

The Wolf of Wall Street
Dallas Buyers Club
Captain Phillips
12 Years a Slave
Gravity
Her
American Hustle

I've enjoyed all of these quite a bit so far, usually there's a few nominees that I don't care for but they've all been enjoyable this year.

Dallas Buyers Club will clean house. If Wolf of Wall Street wins anything, it'll probably be Scorsese for Best Director. But Dallas Buyers Club has a lot of potential to go fucking nuclear on these awards. McConaughey has had a ridiculous year, so I would be really disappointed if he didn't win best actor. But if Jared Leto doesn't win Best Supporting Actor, the show is fucking rigged.

Frankly I hope Gravity doesn't win anything. Terrible movie.

It was so hard for me not to give Leto Best Supporting Actor but man of all the slaveowners I've seen in movies (to be fair, I've seen like 6 between this one and Django), Michael fucking Fassbender absolutely killed it.

Fassbender should win for me, but I just don't see the Academy going that way.

Also if Lawrence does win as expected then that is a very soft Oscar win. She is a good actress, but that is not one of her great performances.

Another thing I find silly is how the winner of best picture hardly ever wins for best director, considering that the director is considered king in film.

I thought it was just a weak year for supporting actresses. The only other one that stood out to me was Julia Roberts.

Supporting actor is a very strong race this year though, all those guys did great.

Wolf for best picture for me. Terrific movie especially for 3 hours. Enjoyed it the most. And was originally was gonna go with Leo to finally win the big one for TWOWS, but man McConaughey was too good in DBC. I'm fine with whoever wins best supporting. Thought Leto was great don't get me wrong, but not THAT amazing. Going with Bullock over Blanchett because she was terrific as pretty much the main character throughout the whole film and gave a very believable and gripping performance despite some of the movies flaws. Oh and because Blanchett's movie is Blue Jasmine and Woody Allen is a pedo. That golden globes dedication thing to him was oh ever so laughable. Gravity will win a lot of awards in the production area.

Also if Lawrence does win as expected then that is a very soft Oscar win. She is a good actress, but that is not one of her great performances.

It was soft when she won it the first time as well. I think she's good, but I didn't see anything overly impressive about her performance in Hustle. I'd also argue that she was too young for the part as well, but I guess that's another argument altogether.

I think the nomination is to just appeal to the younger audience a bit more.

I thought it was just a weak year for supporting actresses. The only other one that stood out to me was Julia Roberts.

Supporting actor is a very strong race this year though, all those guys did great.

Don't agree it has been a weak year for supporting actress. Sally Hawkins was great in Blue Jasmine, Lupita Nyong'o who would be my winner tonight was excellent in 12 Years, and Lea Souydoux should have been nominated for BITWC.

Wolf for best picture for me. Terrific movie especially for 3 hours. Enjoyed it the most. That has nothing to do with it, you can still respect someone's talent without respecting them personally.

Gimmick I did think Lawrence's win last year was well deserved, it is rare for someone that young to win an Oscar, but I thought it was well deserved. I have nothing against her performance in American Hustle its enjoyable, but nothing more.
