December 9th: ROH Officials want to thank the wonderful patrons in both Collinsville and Nashville for wonderful events over the past weekend! Both debuts were a success and we owe it to you, the fans! Ring of Honor returns to Collinsville, IL on Friday, March 13th. Tickets are on sale right now at www.rohwrestling.com.

December 9th: In major news, The Briscoe Brothers were able to secure their shot at Kensuke Sasaki and Katsuhiko Nakajima by virtue of their win in the Gauntlet Challenge in Collinsville. In comments from the 12/8 article http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2444, the former World Tag Team Champions make it clear that they are up to the challenge, despite suspicions about the knee injury suffered by Mark Briscoe. Jay Briscoe commented, “Those two want ROH’s toughest fighters? Well ya don’t have ta look much farther than the Briscoes to see who’s the toughest around.†We’ll have more comments from the Briscoes in the upcoming ROH Videowire.

December 9th: In a disgusting display from Saturday in Nashville, ROH World Champion, Nigel McGuinness sunk to a new low after Jerry Lynn took him to the limit in their championship match. McGuinness, who retained the title after blatantly using leverage from the ropes, took the microphone in what seemed at first to be a genuine gesture of respect toward the veteran Lynn. That perception quickly turned into a huge display of arrogance and utter disrespect as McGuinness insulted Lynn’s background, age, and anything else that came to mind, emphatically stating that Lynn “never-made-itâ€, “never-had-itâ€, and that “the boys in the back are laughing at himâ€. Lynn, who has held championship gold several times in his career, was visibly shaken by the words, as the Nashville faithful peppered Nigel with trash from ringside. ROH Video crews captured a heated display from Lynn, who erupted in the locker room area post match. We hope to have that footage available as son as possible. Lynn was unavailable for comment as this went to press.

December 9th: Brent Albright placed several heated phone calls to the ROH offices on both Sunday and Monday, after a weekend that saw his team lose a shot at Sasaki and Nakajima after more Sweet-n-Sour games in Collinsville. Albright and Erick Stevens were disqualified after Stevens used Larry Sweeney’s snakeskin boot to KO Davey Richards during the Gauntlet Challenge last Friday. Fortunately for Albright and Stevens, ROH officials are aware that Sweeney is the person that introduced the boot into the match. The following night in Nashville, Sweeney replaced Bobby Dempsey with himself in the match against Albright and Stevens, and once more attempted to introduce a weapon into play. This time, Sweeney mistakenly nailed Richards with a steel chair, allowing Albright and Stevens to score the win. ROH officials have grown very tired of the repeated rules violations by Sweet-n-Sour. Thus, on 12/27 in New York, the team of Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, and Go Shiozaki with Larry Sweeney, will face the team of Brent Albright, Erick Stevens, and Roderick Strong in a “Come-As-You-Are New York City Street Fightâ€! Anything goes in this one, as ROH officials hope that this will be enough to settle the score once and for all!

December 9th: The Buy 3, Get 2 Free Ring of Honor DVD Sale has been extended for an additional 24 hours until Wednesday at noon EST. Don't miss this great opportunity to save money on the latest ROH DVD's Driven 2008 PPV, Return of the 187, Ring of Honor 2. For complete details on the sale click here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2440.

December 9th: Rhett Titus allegedly came clean last Saturday in Nashville. Daizee Haze confronted Titus in front of the entire audience, and with the help of the Necro Butcher, got “Addicted to Love†to say that everything he’d said about Haze was untrue. That apparently wasn’t enough; as Titus went on to exclaim that he was indeed a “virginâ€. This elicited raucous laughter from those on hand, and left Titus in complete embarrassment. What we have been unable to ascertain is whether Titus only said this under duress as he was facing imminent damage at the hands of Necro, or whether it’s actually factual. Regardless, Rhett has entered himself into the Four-Corner-Survival encounter on 12/27 in Manhattan! In addition, we’ve been informed that he is lobbying executives at VH1 to cast him in the upcoming “Daisy of Love†reality show. If you want to cast your vote for “Rhettski the Jetskiâ€, you can make your voice heard by visiting: www.daisyoflovecasting.com/people/rhettdathreat. Word from the Titus camp is that we’ll all soon know why he said what he did in Nashville!

December 9th: ROH officials are happy to announce that the Mid-Atlantic region will be well represented in January! We’ll welcome Damien Wayne, Sean Denny, and Chris Escobar to Manassas, VA on 1/16 and in Edison, NJ on 1/17. Wayne and Denny have appeared in the past, and this will be the debut for Escobar. All three competitors are standouts in their territory and worthy of competing in ROH. We’ll have more talent additions soon, right here in the newswire.

December 9th: Ring of Honor returns to PPV on Friday, January 16th with Rising Above. This event will carried on iN Demand, Direct TV, The Dish Network, and TVN cable systems. Mark your calendar now. More details coming soon.

December 9th: We’ll have more news for Final Battle Weekend tomorrow in the newswire; including reports of news from the Age of the Fall that, if true, won’t sit well with ROH World Tag team Champions, Kevin Steen and El Generico!

Not for nothing, but I kinda want to see Nakajima and Sasaki flat-out KILL The Briscoes. Its nothing against Mark and Jay.. Actually, it is. I've gotten a bit tired of their matches these past couple of months.

They're incredibly talented, but maybe its time that they freshened themselves up a bit in the ring.

Didnt really say much in this newswire. Felt kinda soap opera like.

As far as the briscoes go, I still enjoy them, BUT they have run their course in ROH as a tag team. They need to be established as singles stars too i think. Unless they leave the company soon. I wouldn't mind seeing a brand new tag team aim at the briscoes either. (Delirous/hallowicked maybe) But im tired to seeing Briscoes/Steenerico/AOTF matches. They need someone other than the tag belts to focus on.

- December 11th: As seen in the most recent ROH videowire above, Austin Aries has officially challenged Tyler Black to a rematch after falling to him in Collinsville last weekend. Tyler Black has stated that he should be in line for an ROH World Title shot be virtue of his win. Aries is also making that claim as he defeated Tyler Black and ROH World Champion, Nigel McGuinness, in Dayton's 3-Way-Dance on 11/21. If McGuinness hadn't refused to defend the belt that night, Aries would be the first Two-Time World Champion in ROH history. The ROH Booking Committee is looking at this situation very closely to determine what course of action is appropriate.

- Speaking of the videowire, Jimmy Jacobs downplayed the speculation that there is any dissention in ranks of the Age of the Fall. Several days ago, Kevin Steen, El Generico, and the Necro Butcher issued a challenge to the Briscoes and a member of the AOTF for a 6-Man-Tag team match. This challenge fell on seemingly deaf ears as Jacobs, ever the master of the mind game, rebuffed the challenge. He stated he'd never put himself or any of his compatriots in cahoots with the Briscoes, no matter who they'd be facing. Now we've come to learn that Jacobs has petitioned ROH officials for a Tag Team Title re-match, claiming that the involvement of Rhett Titus gave Steen and Generico an unfair advantage in Dayton last month, costing the AOTF the World Tag Team Titles. Meanwhile, Steen, Generico, and Necro still want their 6-Man-Tag Team Match. We hope to have comments from the ROH Booking Committee before the end of the week.

- There are less than 24 hours remaining in the Buy 3, Get 1 Free Ring of Honor DVD Sale. For complete details click here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2440.

- ROH Officials are happy to announce that Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards, now referring to themselves as the "American Wolves", are scheduled to appear in Manassas, VA on 1/16 and in Edison, NJ on 1/17. In fact, super agent Larry Sweeney is so confident in this tandem that he's bringing them to Philadelphia on December 26! "We don't care who we face", said Sweeney. "Beginning in Philly, Eddie and Davey will start to show the world what preeminent tag team wrestling is."

- Roderick Strong has faced Kensuke Sasaki before. Now it appears he wants another shot at the legend. "I know I can beat Sasaki", said Strong. "He said he wanted to face the "toughest fighters" that ROH has to offer. Well, he should look no further. He's got the Briscoes in New York, so if he wants a singles match, that's fine. If he and Nakajima want another tag match, that's fine too. Bottom line is that I want another crack at Sasaki in Philadelphia on 12/26." We are awaiting comments from the Kensuke Office.

- "The Wrestler" opens in limited release on December 17th. It will continue to open in different parts of the country later this month and continuing into January. For more information on when the movie might be playing in your area click here: http://content.foxsearchlight.com/inside/node/3041. Ring of Honor is heavily featured in the closing 15 minutes of the film. Earlier today Mickey Rourke earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. Marisa Tomei earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

- ROH Ringside Timekeeper, Giuseppe di Lorento, has filed a formal complaint against Ernie Osiris, stating that he found Osiris rifling through his belongings during the 12/6 event in Nashville. Among the allegedly stolen items are one Brown Argyle sock, a half-used Tube of Mustache Wax, and loose cash totaling $7.38. Osiris, unsuccessful in his bout that night and recently seen panhandling, denies taking anything and refused further comment.

December 17th: Ring of Honor will present their annual Wrestlemania weekend shows in Houston, TX on Friday, April 3rd with an 8pm bell time and Saturday, April 4th with a special 3pm belltime. Both events will take place at the George R. Brown Convention Center, 1001 Avenida de las Americas, Houston, TX 77010. Tickets for both events will go on sale Thursday, December 18th at 11am EST at www.rohwrestling.com.

December 17th: It didn’t take long for the Necro Butcher to answer the challenge laid out by Rhett Titus at http://www.you-tube.com/watch?v=xBxj6zOB50k. Necro emphatically told ROH officials on late Tuesday night that he would love the chance to enter the Four Corner Survival on December 27 in New York City. “Titus is gonna learn his lessonâ€, said the Butcher. “And he’s gonna learn well. I never back down from a challenge. Not in the ROH/CZW Wars, not when I was with the Age of the Fall, and sure as hell not now. I’m coming for you Titus.†This completes the completely stacked Four Corner Survival as Necro joins Rhett Titus, Chris Hero, and Jerry Lynn at the Hammerstein!

December 17th: Speaking of Rhett Titus, he and Kenny King have signed to be on hand for ROH’s return to Manassas, VA on 1/16 and Edison, NJ on 1/17. Previously announced for the doubleshot weekend are Mid-Atlantic standouts Damien Wayne, Sean Denny, and Chris Escobar, as well as the “American Wolves†of Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards with Larry Sweeney. More stars of ROH will announced soon here in the Newswire.

December 17th: ROH World Tag Team Champions, Kevin Steen and El Generico, have both made phone calls to the ROH Booking Committee in the last 48 hours to discuss the claims made by Jimmy Jacobs that he and Delirious had the deck stacked against them in Dayton last month. Steen, in particular, was outraged that Jacobs brought what he called “complete bull†to the Committee in hopes of landing another title shot. This topic apparently wasn’t the only one that the champs discussed with ROH officials. We will have more on this before the week is over.

December 17th: It’s official. After listening to claims made by both competitors and weighing the situation very carefully, ROH officials have sanctioned a huge match for 12/27 at Final Battle! The heat between Tyler Black and Austin Aries has been building, especially after Black scored a clean pinfall over Aries in suburban St. Louis earlier this month. Now these two will battle it out again. This time, ROH officials have upped the ante. Austin Aries and Tyler Black meet in New York, and the winner of this contest will be declared the Number One contender to the ROH World Championship!

December 17th: The new ROH Video Wire posted at http://www.you-tube.com/watch?v=1W2Y0JLYoGc features highlights from our recent event in Nasville, TN. This includes comments from Nigel McGuinness towards Jerry Lynn from after their World Title Match, followed by a disturbing locker room confrontation.

December 17th: The movie "The Wrestler" opens today in limited release. In New York City you can see the movie at Landmark Sunshine Cinema, 143 E. Houston Street, New York, NY 10002 and Lincoln Plaza Cinemas at 30 Lincoln Plaza, Broadway between 62nd and 63rd, New York, NY 10023. In Los Angeles it will be playing at The Landmark, 10850 West Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90064. The New York Daily News gave the film a tremendous review today which you can read here: http://www.nydailynews.com/entertai...mickey_rourke_earns_oscar_buzz_with_role.html.

December 17th: ROH officials received a surprising phone call this morning. It seems someone wants to return to their old stomping grounds.

I can imagine the whole ROH Message Board pissing themselves just because this was included.

Black vs Aries should be good, but that leaves Jacobs without a partner for a tag match. But it should be a good match, and it should help both guys, even though they've had their shots at Nigel already more than once.

I'd prefer that Brodie Lee gets to tag with Jacobs for the tag titles over Delirious this time.

I agree, i was thinking the same thing. Delirous seems to be all the place these past 2 years. Him joining AOTF was a good idea, but they jobbed them both out, so they dont really hold much of a threat. At least Brodie is something Fresh.

December 29th: Everyone at ROH sends a huge “thank you†to each and every fan that has supported us throughout the past year. We look forward to 2009 and entertaining you with what we believe is the best wrestling product in the country.

December 29th: Everyone in the Hammerstein Ballroom stood in shock as Austin Aries did the unthinkable. Shortly after defeating Tyler Black and earning a championship match, he watched Jimmy Jacobs lock the End Time on the fallen Black. He followed that up by wrapping a chair around Tyler’s head and scaling the ropes, ostensibly to cripple Black. Aries charged the ring, in an apparent effort to stop Jacobs, but shattered that perception with a thunderous chairshot on Tyler as he struggled to get to his feet. Even Jacobs seemed stunned at the actions of Aries, but that didn’t stop him from joining in an impromptu beatdown of the bloodied Black. No one is sure how to react to these events, and Aries has refused all attempts to discuss the matter. Jimmy Jacobs was more forthcoming, but also guarded, saying, “And everyone thought that Aries won our feud.†Jacobs walked off with a sly smirk and refused further comment.

December 29th: Larry Sweeney’s American Wolves certainly left their mark over the past weekend. The biggest of their “achievements†is undoubtedly the knee injury they inflicted upon Mark Briscoe. As of this time, we are uncertain just how long Mark will be out of action, but we do know that surgery is required to repair the injury. Things could be worse for the Briscoes, and ironically they could have their arch-rivals, Kevin Steen and El Generico, to thank that things aren’t worse. It was Steen and Generico that stopped the Wolves from going even further than they did, as Jay Briscoe could do nothing as he was handcuffed to the ropes and forced to watch his brother endure the torture commanded by Sweeney. We understand that comments from all parties are forthcoming in upcoming ROH Video Wires.

December 29th: A gigantic End of Year Sale is currently ongoing where you can save 35-40% Off your next order. Don't delay as this type of sale doesn't come around often. For complete details on how to save, click here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=1682.

December 29th: We are happy to announce that Brent Albright, Roderick Strong, and Erick Stevens will all be on hand in Manassas and Edison over the January 16-17 weekend. These three are elated to have finally been granted the steel cage grudge war that they have been seeking against Sweet-n-Sour Incorporated. Albright pleaded with ROH President Cary Silkin for the match, stating that Sweeney and his men are “ruining the company that (Silkin) built.†ROH officials are currently trying to decide when this huge battle will take place, and we will bring you that announcement and any other news as soon as we have it.

December 29th: ROH Officials are unhappy that security crews had to become involved in the events in Philadelphia and New York. In both cases, security personnel performed wonderfully, removing those that decided to interject themselves into the action. Ring of Honor respectfully asks those that attend our events to please respect the boundaries set forth by our ring barricades. We ask this of everyone, whether it be a paying customer or a wealthy prince. Thank you for your attention.

December 29th: We’ll have the first match announcements for the ROH return to Manassas and Edison tomorrow in the Newswire.

cant wait for the match announcements.

Not a bad videowire. I liked the promo by the American Wolves. Wow has anyone else see Roderick recently at a live show? It looks like he's dropped at least 20lbs.

December 31st: Bryan Danielson and Jerry Lynn put on an absolute clinic in Philadelphia at All Star Extravaganza IV, with Danielson securing the pinfall by ever the slightest of margins. Now, both competitors have agreed to do it again, and it will take place in Edison on January 17. Dragon is fresh off his long-awaited victory over Takeshi Morishima in NY, while Lynn has his sights undeniably set on Nigel McGuinness. In any event, this match is worth the price of admission alone!

December 31st: ROH Officials aren’t blind to the events that took place in New York that led up to Tyler Black losing the match to determine the Number One Contender to the ROH World Title. With those circumstances in mind, the ROH Booking Committee was decided to give Tyler Black another chance to earn a title shot. In Manassas on January 16, Tyler Black will face Nigel McGuinness in a non-title match. Keep in mind this will take pace 24 hours before Black faces Jimmy Jacobs in 2009’s first grudge match!

December 31st: We now know that the American Wolves of Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards will be in tag team action in both Manassas and Edison. On 1/16 in Manassas, the Wolves will face a measure of retribution as they will face Jay Briscoe and a partner of his choosing! We all know that Jay will be looking to exact revenge on Sweeney’s Wolves for pushing Mark Briscoe’s knee injury over the edge. We’ll announce Jay’s partner as soon as we find out right here in the Newswire!

December 31st: Speaking of Jay Briscoe, his contract for Edison on January 17 has been signed by a most unlikely opponent. Chris Escobar is relatively unknown to ROH fans, but that apparently hasn’t deterred him from stepping up and trying to prove what he’s made of. “I have nothing but respect for the Briscoesâ€, said Escobar. “But my opportunity may only come once. And I plan to make the most of it.â€

December 31st: As seen in the most recent ROH Video Wire http://www.rohvideos.com/watch?v=QeaQlDizs2Y, ROH President Cary Silkin has made it official. After countless run-in attacks and blatant outside interference, it seems that enough is enough. On January 31 in Chicago, Sweet-n-Sour Incorporated will face the test that they’ve escaped thus far: THE STEEL CAGE. Brent Albright and crew have been chomping at the bit in asking for this match for some time now, and finally it will happen, and it will happen on Pay-Per-View! You don’t want to miss this one; we’ll have reaction from both sides as we move closer to January 31!

December 31st: The End of Year Sale has been extended for one final time, until Friday morning. Details on the sale are on the main page at www.rohwrestling.com. Happy New Year's everybody. We'll see you in 2009.

NIgel vs Black II....good stuff.

I hear Strong has lost some weight. Sounds like a lot.

Jay Briscoe vs. Chris Esco could be good.

Strong has lost a TON of weight. Tyler/Nigel II should be great but would be better if it was a title match :) - The closing moments of DBD were just insane! Next Edison show will also have Tyler versus Jimmy.

January 6th: We at Ring of Honor hope that everyone had a safe and awesome New Year celebration. We look forward to bringing you an incredible 2009! Thank you so very much for supporting us!

January 6th: The fans of Manassas will witness a first-time ever matchup on January 16 as the Mid-Atlantic’s own, “Geordie Bulldog†Sean Denny, will face a man looking to continue to prove himself in the ring, as well as apparently proving his manhood, “Addicted to Love†Rhett Titus. “I’m one of the world’s greatest loversâ€, said Titus. “And in Manassas, I’ll show this guy from Denny’s why ladies gab about abs, squeak for obliques, and confess while touching my chest.â€

January 6th: Judging by his comments above, Rhett Titus is overflowing with confidence. In fact, he’s had an open contract for 1/17 in Edison for quite some time. Until today that is. Just signed for Edison on 1/17, Titus will step into the ring with former NWA Champion, “Shooter†Brent Albright. “I don’t like people with big mouthsâ€, said Albright. “And Rhett has a big mouth. He reminds me of Sweeney in a lot of ways. I noticed his open contract for Edison, and it seemed like a great time to shut him up for once.â€

January 6th: ROH Officials have been working hard to finalize an ROH World Title Match for January 31 in Chicago. Nigel McGuinness has voiced to the booking committee what he believes are “very important concerns†as of late, making it somewhat difficult to find a challenger suitable to McGuinness. Officials are mulling over McGuinness’ concerns for validity, and hope to have a match announcement very soon.

January 6th: The Necro Butcher is bringing his war to both Detroit on 1/30 and Chicago on 1/31. He’s made no secret that targeting the Age of the Fall is his number one priority, and is hoping to continue the battle on Pay-Per-View! We’ve also just learned that he’ll be a part of a newly signed Four Corner Survival match in Edison on January 17. We’ll have the first of his opponents in tomorrow’s Newswire.

January 6th: There are two new specials available at www.rohwrestling.com involving DVD's and tickets. The first offer features over 20 ROH live event DVD's from 2005 for only $8 each. The second deal features $10 off all ringside reserved seats for all upcoming live events. Complete details on the sale can be found here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2435.

January 6th: The ROH Booking Committee is happy to announce that the World Tag Team Titles will be defended in Detroit on 1/30! Kevin Steen and El Generico finalized their half of the championship contract this afternoon and we’ll have their challengers as soon as possible right here in the Newswire.

January 6th: Brodie Lee of the AOTF will return to action on January 30 in Detroit and he will be in action on Pay-Per-View in Chicago on January 31.

January 6th: The latest ROH Video Wire will be posted today at www.rohvideos.com. One of the highlights is a sitdown interview with Jerry Lynn.

[yt]qJ6iYXi_iAY[/yt]

January 7th: A huge match up has been signed for January 16 in Manassas. Bryan Danielson is fresh off of slaying the mighty Morishima, and now he’s going to face an entirely different type of competitor. The master of manipulation, AOTF leader Jimmy Jacobs has signed to face Dragon. Jimmy’s recent acts against Tyler Black have left many in ROH questioning where his head is at, and now we have to wonder why he’d challenge the “best in the worldâ€. One thing is for certain, Manassas is in for one hell of a match.

January 7th: As soon as it was reported that the Necro Butcher had signed to compete in the Four Corner Survival in Edison on 1/17, the ROH Booking Committee received a phone call from Delirious. Of course, no one could understand what he was really saying, but the implication was that he wanted into the match as well. As we learned previously, he will face the Butcher in a singles contest the night before in Manassas. What kind of damage will be inflicted on these two with TWO matches in back-to-back days?

January 7th: ROH Officials have been contemplating some sort of penalty for Larry Sweeney’s American Wolves for their brutal attack on Mark Briscoe. Jay Briscoe immediately asked for a tag team match for Manassas on 1/16. The match was granted, but we did not know who Jay would select as his tag team partner. We’ve just learned that Jay Briscoe has asked a man all too familiar with Sweeney’s men. Roderick Strong will team with Jay Briscoe to battle Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards!

January 7th: Speaking of Richards and Edwards, their weekend doesn’t get any easier. In Edison on 1/17 they’ll face a different kind of test. Roderick Strong has gone to ROH Officials and asked that a grudge tag match be signed for January 17. Only two weeks before Sweeney’s men face Strong, Albright, and Company in the cage, it’ll be Strong and Erick Stevens against the American Wolves. But that’s not all. Roddy wants a “warm up†of sorts for Chicago. “I want the Wolves to get a taste of what it will feel like to NOT be able to run. To NOT be able to have your friends come and bail them out. In Edison on the 17th, I want the Wolves in a Lumberjack Strap Match! And believe it, only the STRONG will survive.â€

January 7th: Claudio Castagnoli certainly didn’t have much to say in a positive light in the most recent ROH Video Wire at http://www.you-tube.com/watch?v=qJ6iYXi_iAY. He’s been forthright in stating that 2009 will be his year, and he’ll start that quest in Detroit on January 30. “I am very European. I am Custom-made, the prototypical athlete. I don’t drink nor smoke. In Detroit, I begin the Year of Claudio. Brent Albright, you will be my first conquest in 2009.â€

January 7th: Ring of Honor officials are in the process of selecting the date and location for the "Seventh Anniversary Show". All we know right now is that the event will be held in February or March. We'll have the announcement at www.rohwrestling.com as soon as it becomes official

====================================================

Lots of updates. Good videowire. Danielson/Jacobs and american wolves vs. Jay & Roddy should be good. Virginia is looking real good.

Detroit gets Claudio vs. Brent Albright! ... gotta start somewhere. I was hoping for Cluadio vs Brodie, probably wont happen in ROH though.
