Fwiw i think 4 is amazing still, even if some things didnt quite add up story wise.

I did not like 5 at all though, id never replay it
Complete opposite position for me:

5 is pretty good even if the story is a bit of a mess

4 is a complete trainwreck, the story is complete ass and fanservice of the worst kind (Oh yeah, the radio team from MGS3 casually becoming the uber secret world government because reasons? Naomi Hunter curing cancer with nanomachines and not bothering to tell anyone of this miraculous discovery? SURPRISE BIG BOSS ISN'T DEAD, FOR A SECOND TIME!) But holy shit if it isn't a miraculously well-put-together trainwreck.

5 just did nothing for me. No big bad to fight at the end. Just bleak shit n endless meangless missions. Lifeless n boring

Fwiw the nonsense in 4 didnt really bother me, most of the stories in 1 2 3 have huge plot holes so iys wtv to me. U got to ride REX so in my head it rules lol

I think that was the point fwiw. It was the aftermath of Peace Walker and took place just before Metal Gear 1, of course it's going to be way more nihilistic.

yeah I got the point of it it just...never got there. I think like I said above, the lack of a big last boss battle and a linear path to the end really hurt it, MGS was never meant to be some pseudo open world missions after mission after mission thing. it obviously made sense in the context of that game, i just dont think it translated into a a fun experience and it felt like doing things on repeat and more importantly, i just dont feel you get a very satisfying ending to wrap it up

Imagine how the game could have been if we got the ending we were supposed to have with Liquid stealing the Metal Gear or something along those lines?

I think as long as the remake follows the same basic plot and keeps Kojima's philosophy within the series intact for it, I think it'll be just fine.

What would make it better is if the areas were expanded far more and made it so Snake had to go through more regions and locations before getting to Grozny Grad. Give me The End fight as exactly the same and I'm a happy guy.

the end is the greatest fight ever
I think it genuinely might be the peak of the entire MGS franchise as far as boss fights go. It's understated, simple, but has so many layers to it.

I was a GIANT MGS1 fan and loved both 2 and 3. 4 was like a wet dream for me when it came out. I took a week off work for it and beat it in like 2 days. 5 sucked a bag of dicks tho.

If they use this remake as basically a start of the series again and instead of it being a prequel it will just be the new start of the series i'm down. I think that's why it specifically doesn't say MGS3. it shows the triangle or whatever because it's basically the reboot of their franchise without kojima and hayter as the voice.

I don't think so, he did say he was voicing snake again for an upcoming project back when MGS1 remake was rumored but it turned out to be sound bytes for Super Bomberman R skins :lol
