For anyone who is a fan of masked wrestlers, who do you like the most? There are a ton of wrestlers to choose from, and since a lot of us watch more than WWE and TNA, we have knowledge on who we like.

Here are two of my favorites from over the years...

Jushin "Thunder" Liger

As former owner and booker of Masked Wrestler's Wrestling, I heart this thread.

Can't go without mentioning Mysterio, but have loads of faves in CHIKARA right now. The Colony, The Spectral Envoy, Ophidian.

Actually, I thought of your fed when I started this thread lol.

Most of my favorites are older and come from Mexico and Japan. I was a huge fan of the lucha movement, plus I have been a fan of masked wrestlers since I was a young kid.

lol, La Park always did entertain me.

I've always liked Ultimo Dragon as well, and I wish WWE would have realized what they had on their hands when they signed him.

I Agree, but they didn't believe in Lucha wrestling. I enjoyed WCW because of the influx of the masked wrestlers.

The Ultimo Dragon/WWE thing was weird. I think he was quite happy to get his MSG & WM appearances in and call it a day.

It seemed they had no idea how to use most of em. Which made no sense.
Atleast WCW had LwO ahahahahah

I agree very much with both of you. Honestly, I don't think the masked wrestling really works with WWE's product. Sure, Mysterio could get over, but that's about it. Most of their attempts have failed to meet expectation, with the exception of Rey (and yes, I feel Sin Cara failed to meet expectation).

But how could Rey do it and the others couldn't? You gotta remember they could have fit into the product, but in WCW they wasn't brought in for storylines, just pure wrestling. So, they needed direction in the WWE enviroment and the brass neglected to do that and messed up a good thing.

Rey was one of the first small masked guys that kids and adults could dig, and I believe that the allure of the other wrestlers that could do that is gone because of a lack of hype or a certain boundary that they just can't seem to get across. Shit, Aguila wrestled at WM 14 and people could have gave a shit less. Rey has always had an emotional appeal.

Or just more draw value because he was able to get himself over?

Very much so...also, Rey showcased his talent on a grander American stage than the rest, so he reaped the rewards to go along with it (feuds, titles, and moments)

No offense, but that's a horrible comparison. Rey Mysterio has been given title reigns, interview time, plenty of feuds/angles and gets to mix it up with the top guys. Aguila was brought in without any build-up, wasn't given any proper feuds and was kept in a division that the WWE was already making clear it didn't matter. So why would the fans even care?
