Hopefully it makes sense after a few races. You can also choose to pit earlier then the expected life span of tyres, but don't want to confuse you too much

C2s for qualifying and to start the race, I'll then on the first stop use C1s, then finish off with the C3s

C1s for qualifying

Start race with C1s, change on lap 60 to C2s

Change on lap 105 to another set of C2s to finish the race

Qualifying Report

The first qualifying session in the Pepsi Max Challenge Champion at the Autódromo Ciudad de Rafaela (Argentina) saw all five drivers take to the circuit for a total of five laps each. Ayrton Senna and Tony Stewart both decided to complete qualifying on the C1 tyres (which are the hard tyre compound this week) so it wasn't surprising to anyone that the duo would be on the slower end of times with Senna posting a time of 52.500 seconds and Tony Stewart posting a time of 54.600 seconds. Both drivers will start the race on the same C1 tyres they qualified in which will allow them both to complete longer first stints before needing to complete their first pit stops.

(Senna starts 4th & Stewart starts 5th this weekend.)

The first driver to post a sub 50 second lap time would be Jackie Stewart on his third qualifying lap with a time of 45.400 seconds and until the final lap it looked like none of his fellow rivals in Earnhardt Senior and Junior who were also using the C2s (which are the medium tyre compound this week) were going to be able to offer a challenge.

450

(Jackie Stewart leading qualifying after three laps.)

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. would be the second last to cross the finish line and would narrowly miss out to Stewart with a time of 46.900 seconds, but his father would claim a small marginal victory and be the first driver to go below 45 seconds with a time of 44.800 seconds on the final lap of qualifying.

(Earnhardt, Jr. finishes 2.100 seconds behind his father.)

This means that Dale Earnhardt, Sr. will start the first race of the season on the front row of the grid and will have an early advantage going into the first championship race in the history of the JSRL.

(Senior claims the first pole position of the season.)

Earnhardt, Sr. set the fastest laps in the pre-season race at Laguna and is starting to show himself already as someone who knows how to set a fast lap, although we have to wonder if he can translate this to a win after 150 laps around the Argentinian Oval Circuit. (lap time will not be recorded during the race) Senior drives the car that has the best advantage in regards to its chassis being based on the Le Mans Prototype design whilst is powered by the mid-ranged engine of BMW. For many this car is seen as arguably the fastest in the competition, but could other factors including pit crew, durability and driver performance play a big part in how much can be achieved this year by the #300 car?

(The LMP3 Chassis BMW powered #300 car claims its first pole.)

Race Update One:

Laps 1-10
- The first ten laps would see Earnhardt, Sr. starting the race in a very positive manner and would find themselves as the only driver on the lead lap. Junior would fall just a lap down to his father, although he would radio his team informing them that he felt as if his Toyota had sustained some major damage (fortunately Toyota had invested a large amount of money into their durability packages).

- Jackie Stewart despite being on a different strategy would find himself on the same lap as Senna despite Senna being on the much harder and longer lasting tyres. Senna would comment that his Audi felt as if it had taken some damage on the first lap involving a collision with Tony Stewart’s Mazda. Tony would seem to be the biggest loser after the first ten laps and was actually four laps behind the race leader.

Laps 11-20

- As we moved further into the race it would be Tony Stewart who would seem to really fall off the pace, and just didn’t seem to have fully understood what was expected of him this racing weekend and was a staggering fifteen laps behind overall leader Earnhardt, Sr. In second place Junior was now three laps behind his father, whilst the only real battle taking place was for 3rd place as Jackie and Ayrton were six laps behind the leader but battling each other.

LAP 21 INCIDENT!

On the 21st lap of the race Jackie Stewart's Porsche spun off the road as his C2 tyres that he had qualified had been degrading faster than expected with his back right tyre fully deflating and causing him to spin on the second corner - forcing the yellow flag to be shown.

At a snail's pace Jackie Stewart would make his way to the pit, whilst the race would be neutralised for the rest of the field. Jackie would ask his pit crew to change his tyres onto his second set of C2s which would now result in his strategy looking like so:

Tyres Start Tyres First Pit Second Pit Third Pit
JackieC2*LAP 21 - C2LAP 68 - C3LAP 102 - C1

If anyone would like to change their strategy - whilst under the first caution of the race please let me know!
