Championship Wrestling Alliance - CWA

OOC: Much like EoR's UCW BTB, this one is based on a fed from a distant land, that died when the forum originally went down. I owned this fed and I've been dreaming up scenarios ever since it was shut down, so why not do it here?.

CWALOGO-1.png

Ever since CWA closed and stopped trading a void has been left unfilled in the wrestling industry. But through a legal loophole, original owner Vince McMahon was able to resurrect the CWA name and has embarked now on making the once grand force of CWA that force once more.

I follow every BTB so far, so why not follow this one as well, can't wait to see your first show.

YES! Love it! #Taz4CWAChamp.

I'd love to see what you come up with for this, Sam. CWA always had rocky times, but overall it was a good alternative fed back when people actually posted for their matches frequently.

Keen to see your ideas :)

As someone that loved CWA, I am excited to see this. I was wondering why Mankind wasn't part of it, then scrolled down and saw there were going to be two brands and calmed down. Looking forward to this "revival", if you will.

Certainly looking good, I just wondering if Sammeh is gonna borrow me format which I took off obsessedwithwrestling.

If CWA and UCW can get a constant set of results up each week, then it's back to the good ole days SammeH!

Best put together BTB I've seen on this site, man. The team of Jarrett/Hayabusa intrigues me a lot to follow just to see what you do with those two.

Week One - Thursday Night Fusion - 01/12/12 Edition

'It All Begins Again'

1 - Opening segment is Vince McMahon in ring before the opening pyro.
- Vince cuts a retrospective promo about CWA's past, the past fueds, championship matches and pay per view main events that have taken place in it's history.
- Before long Randy Orton's theme music plays through the arena's sound system and Orton walks out onto the stage. He reminds Vince that he was CWA's franchise player and that he was a four time World Champion.
- Vince seems annoyed by Orton's presence and orders him to leave, but Orton refuses. He insists he has a title oppertunity, tonight.
- Vince's eyes light up, but are quickly put out when Orton is blindsided from behind by Hayabusa and Jeff Jarrett who put a kicking to Orton.
- Vince tells them to stop it or they'll be fired. Vince makes the match tonight, Hayabusa and Jeff Jarrett against Randy Orton and a mystery partner, if he can find one, and if he is able to make it to the ring.
- EMT's and trainers help Orton to his feet as the opening video plays.

2. The theme song of Thursday Night Fusion plays and the typical hoopla of the intro, pyro and a panning of the sold out Madison Square Garden in New York City.
- Joey Styles and Jerry Lawler welcome us back to CWA, and talk about the controversial beginning to the new era of CWA being akin to the typical CWA of old.
-They introduce our ring announcer, Howard Finkel, as he introduces our first match-up.

3. Singles Match-Up: 'The Pope' D'Angelo Dinero Vs Shelton Benjamin
-Match begins with some tense lock-ups, these two have some history, including both competing in a match where Dinero won his only World Title in CWA.
-The crowd begin to become annoyed with the lack of action, but this quickly changes when Benjamin and Dinero exchange some quick Suplexes and Slams with Benjamin coming out on top.
-Benjamin remains in control, that is until he misses a Stinger Splash, hitting his face and upper body off of the top turnbuckle. This allows Dinero to gain control of the match.
-The match continues in the favour of Dinero until the end where Dinero's finisher is reversed into a roll-up, with the tights being held, this ends the match with a pinfall victory for 'The Gold Standard'
Winner via pinfall at 7:23: Shelton Benjamin.

-Benjamin and Dinero stand up face to face, Dinero tells the referee that Benjamin had the tights, Benjamin swears innocence, Dinero loses it and swings a punch the way of Benjamin, he knocks Benjamin out of the ring as the crowd cheer. Benjamin simply smiles as he walks up the ramp.

4 - Backstage we see Hayabusa, Jeff Jarrett and Paul Heyman wandering around, they bump into Desmond Wolfe, they ask him if he would consider teaming up with Orton tonight, Wolfe scoffs at the offer, Heyman smiles and continues down the corridor they are walking down.
- We then cut to Randy Orton being treated for a wound on his head, suddenly in walks someone, we only see the back of him, he's wearing street clothes and is indescribable. There's a wry smile on Orton's face as blood is wiped from his head.

5 - Singles Match - Jay Briscoe Vs AJ Styles
- An exciting fast paced match filled with high spots.
- AJ Styles stays in control for most of the match with a beatdown of Briscoe using high flying offence to keep the trailer trash tag team expert down.
- Briscoe makes the comeback with the willing of the crowd, but Ric Flair tries to interfere. Mark Briscoe comes running down the aisle and he takes out Ric Flair. Jay Briscoe gets a bit distracted and turns round into a Pele Kick, AJ covers for a near fall.
- AJ goes for a 450 Splash but Briscoe gets his knees up in time and AJ takes a hard bump on Briscoe's knees.
- AJ looks hurt and he is writhing in agony on the floor, he beckons the referee over as if he is seriously injured. Ric Flair shares some words with the referee but as all of this occurs Desmond Wolfe has popped up in the ring.
-Behind the referees back, Desmond Wolfe hits Jay Briscoe with a devastating Lariat to the back of the head. AJ signals that he is fine after a quick word with the referee.
-AJ covers the fallen Jay Briscoe as Mark Briscoe chases Desmond Wolfe through the crowd, and steals the win.
-Winner via Pinfall at 13:45: AJ Styles w/Ric Flair!

5 - Backstage promo with Mike Awesome, he explains that he will bring back extreme to CWA.
-The promo only lasts around 30 seconds and is straight to the point.
- He wants oppertunity and he'll take out anyone who gets in his way with the Awesome Bomb.

6 - Singles Match - Kane Vs Edge
- The match is a squash essentially.
- Kane controls the match for the most part, dominating Edge in a way Edge never has been in the past.
-These two once had a major rivalry in CWA, going almost half a year, this match isn't a highlight as Kane finishes Edge off with a Chokeslam and covers him for the win.
Winner via pinfall at 4:21 - Kane

7 - Post match Taz walks out from the back and he has a microphone in his hand, he challenges Kane to a match next week, citing that he wants to take out the biggest dogs in the yard until he becomes World Champion.
- The crowd cheer, but before Kane can accept his challenge Mike Awesome appears, throwing everyone off with his previous promo, he takes out Kane from behind with a Steel Chair, before dropping Kane with the Awesome Bomb.
- Mike Awesome let's it be known to Taz that he is the new big dog, and he'll have to take on him if he wants to get anywhere.
-Taz does not back down and steps between the ropes and faces up Mike Awesome. The two men stare one another down before they begin to brawl. Mike Awesome over powers Taz, but Taz uses his resources, namely the ring bell to hit Awesome over the head and split him open. Mike Awesome retreats up the ramp as Taz stands in the ring. He grabs a mic and tells Mike Awesome that he's a pussy, and he'll kick his ass, 'fight it if you can, survive if I let you!'

8 - Backstage we see The Briscoe Brothers, they cut a promo swearing and generally being themselves.
- They challenge the newly reformed Fortune to a match next week, they don't care if it's three on two, or two on two, or nothing.
- Vince McMahon who just happens to be walking by decides he likes that idea and makes it for the CWA Tag Team Championships BUT it will be at the PPV, Rebellion, and seeing that Ric Flair and Desmond Wolfe were the last ever champs, they would be the team that Jay and Mark would be facing. Jay and Mark thank Vince, Vince power walks away.

9 - Singles Match - No Limit Championship - Chris Jericho Vs Matt Hardy
- A solid match that showcases both mens talents.
- It's a face-face match so no one really gains full control of the match and instead both men exchange manuevers.
- Jericho first gains a slight advantage when he takes out Hardy on the outside with a Bulldog.
-Hardy regains the advantage however with a Side-Effect dead centre of the ring.
-Hardy misses the big Leg Drop from the top and allows Jericho to take full control again.
-Hardy reverses a kick to the gut and takes Jericho out with a Twist of Fate, he covers but Jericho is close enough to the ropes to grab the bottom rope to make the rope break.
- Hardy seems frustrated and goes for a second Twist of Fate, but Jericho reverses it dropping Hardy down into the Walls of Jericho. He wrenches it hard, Hardy tries to reach the ropes, but to no avail, he taps out.
Winner via Submission at 15:34 and NEW CWA No Limits Champion: Chris Jericho

10 - Backstage promo with Planet Jarrett.
- Jarrett and Heyman explain that it doesn't matter who Orton's partner is, they done the work previously that was needed to take out Orton.
- Hayabusa has the final word, he explains that once he wins this match, he will once again will conquer the world and become the World Championship.

11 - Tag Team Match - Hayabusa and Jeff Jarrett w/ Paul Heyman Vs Randy Orton and Mystery Partner.
- Hayabusa and Jarrett enter first, followed by Orton. But afterwards there is a long pause, Orton stares up at the ramp, but nothing happens, Orton looks confused and angry.
- The bell is rang and the match begins as a handicap match. Hayabusa takes the fight to Orton with his typically high-paced stuff.
- Hayabusa and Jarrett hit Orton with tag team moves, Orton is completely helpless.
- Orton's head wound is reopened and he is bleeding from his head. Hayabusa hits Orton with a devastating Tornado DDT and covers to no avail.
- The crowd begin to chant Orton's name and Orton begins to rally. He knocks off the domination by Hayabusa only to be tripped by Heyman. Hayabusa gets right back to work.
-Orton is completely dominated until Hayabusa finishes Orton off with the Pheonix Splash.
Winners via Pinfall at 12:21 - Hayabusa and Jeff Jarrett

11 - Hayabusa and Jarrett celebrate post match, when suddenly Cody Rhodes theme plays and he walks out with a microphone in hand, he's wearing the same street clothes as the man we saw earlier today in Orton's changing room.
- Cody Rhodes explains that he was King of The Ring before CWA was closed down, and that entitles him to a title oppertunity, but seeing as there's no champion, it surely makes him the World Champion.
- Cody goes on to explain why he should be World Champion, citing such things as his looks, his ability and his lineage.
- It's at this point, for the first time, Vince Russo walks out from the back, the crowd immediately boo him out of the building.
- Russo tells Rhodes that he can't just give him the championship, and that the match he just witnessed was meant to be the match that decided the match for the World Championship next week. But he saw that Hayabusa Versus Jarrett would be a fix... so he changed it around, and now next week for the World Championship, it will be a Triple Threat Match, between Hayabusa, Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes.
-Rhodes looks enraged, as does Heyman and Jarrett, Hayabusa is nodding his head in approval as Orton is barely managing to get to his feet.
- The show ends at this point.

4. WHC Title Tournament - Quarter Finals - Singles Match - Mankind Vs Rob Van Dam
- Van Dam throws various kicks, but Mankind seems oblivious to the pain that they should inflict.

- Sting and John Morrison have a back forth tussle with no one showing any signs of losing the match.
- Sting hits his signature Stinger Splash several times throughout the match.
- The match flip-flops between the two with Sting using his experience to take the upper hand most of the time.

9. Tag Team Match - Mitsuharu Misawa and Kenta Kobashi w/Jim Cornette Vs Shawn Michaels and Colin Delaney
- Misawa and Kobashi absolutely dominate their competition.

- Delaney is finished off with the Emerald Flowsion for the one, two, three.
Winners at 6:22: Mitsuharu Misawa and Kenta Kobashi

10. We see backstage footage of Mankind laid out on the concrete floor, a small pool of blood has formed around his head. The Natural Born Thrillers who are walking past stop to inspect the damage done, they look at each other and have a little laugh before walking on. Michael Cole and JBL make clear their suspicions.

11. WHC Title Tournament - Semi-Finals - Shawn Stasiak Vs Mankind
- Shawn Stasiak once again walks out and stands alone in the ring.
- The crowd begin to chant Mankind's name, but they seem confined to the fact Mankind won't be showing up.
- And as expected Mankind doesn't show and Stasiak once again is declared winner by forfeit.
Winner via forfeit: Shawn Stasiak.

12. WHC Title Tournament - Semi-Finals - Christian Cage Vs Sting
- Christian and Sting put on a clinic.
- Christian is in control for the first half of the match hitting Sting with many of his signature moves including the Frog Splash, but Sting refuses to stay down for the three.
- Sting gains control for a short while hitting Christian with a DDT to gain the upperhand.
- In the mid-point of the match there are many rest-holds due to the tiredness of both men, already having wrestled a match each.
- Sting controls Sting and he gets him with a Superplex which greatly affects both men.
- Sting cannot seem to pin Christian after several attempts, so he tries to submit him, but Christian fights out of the Scorpion Death Lock and drops Sting with a Russian Leg Sweep when he gets to his feet.
- Christian locks in a Sharpshooter of his own on Sting, but Sting gets to the bottom rope.
- Both men greatly fatigued begin to throw wild punches, but Christian being the younger man reverses one of them and hits Sting with a Neckbreaker, but Sting kicks out of the resultant pin attempt.
- Sting and Christian fight on for several more minutes, Sting hits a Stinger Splash, but his attempted Death Drop, is reversed, Christian turns him round and drops him with the Killswitch. Christian covers for the pin and the win at the end of an epic encounter.
Winner at 24:10: Christian Cage

13. Mankind is on his feet backstage, without any help, as as much as they try, he refuses to accept any help. He walks down the isle shouting, ranting and raving, he is enraged.

14. CWA Nationwide Championship - Fatal Four Way - Stone Cold Steve Austin Vs Scott Steiner VS Razor Ramon Vs Batista
- It's all a bit of a scramble at the start with no real man taking the upper hand
- Austin and Steiner fall to the outside to fight, Ramon and Batista fight in the ring.
- Razor and Batista use big power moves on each other which ends with Razor hitting Batista with a Fall Away Slam. Razor slips outside and joins the side of Austin against Steiner.
- Steiner however takes out both men with Clotheslines, he rolls into the ring and covers Batista but Batista kicks out.
- Steiner and Batista have a test of strength, only for Austin and Razor to enter and clash both men's heads together.
- Austin and Razor then have it out with rights and lefts before Austin takes Razor into a corner to stomp a mudhole in his ass and walk it dry, only to turn round into a Spinebuster from Batista.
- The King of The Ring runner up and Steiner then lock up again, this time, Steiner takes the upperhand and hits Batista with Suplexes and slams.
- Steiner locks in the Steiner Recliner, but Razor kicks him in the face to break it up.
- Austin gets back up and he and Razor have it out again, but Razor ends up clotheslining him over the top rope down to the floor, only to be clotheslined to the floor by Steiner himself.
- Steiner turns round into an attempted kick to the midsection, Steiner puts down the foot, fires Batista with a kick to the gut of his own before lifting Batista up and in sickening fashion he drops him with the Steiner Screwdriver!. Steiner covers the crumpled Animal for the win.
Winner at 18:20 and NEW CWA Nationwide Champion: Scott Steiner

15. WHC Title Tournament - Final - CWA World Heavyweight Championship - Christian Cage Vs Shawn Stasiak
- The match begins with Stasiak dominating, being completely fresh.
- He throws Christian around with Belly to Belly's and Suplexes.
- Christian gets no reprieve as Stasiak continues to stomp him on the mat.
- Christian however refuses to give in and be pinned and makes a comeback midway through the match.
- Christian catches Stasiak with the Pendulum Kick before going for the Frog Splash, but Stasiak moves out of the way.
- Stasiak now puts the boot back into Christian, but not long before The Hurricane's music hits and the crowd goes wild, Hurricane runs down to the ring, but the referee refuses to let him enter the ring, the Thrillers then run down the ring and like a pack of dogs they attack Hurricane, this is when Mankind comes running down to the ring and attacks the Thrillers making it 5 on 2.
- The referee is focused so much on the action outside of the ring, that he misses Stasiak trying to pin Christian after a low-blow. He tries to get the referees attention, but before he can, Christian hits him with a low-blow.
-Christian then stands up and proceeds to hit Stasiak with the Killswitch.
- Christian covers for the pin and the win in remarkable fashion.
Winner at 13:10 and NEW CWA World Heavyweight Champion: Christian Cage.

16. Post match the brawling continues but Mankind and Hurricane join Christian in the ring, The Thrillers grab Stasiak and make their exits up the ramp. Christian is handed the World Heavyweight Championship, now a two time CWA World Champion, the joy on his face is clear to see. Mankind and The Hurricane hold his hands high in the air. The Thrillers plan has been thwarted!, what will happen next week?!.

Sting winning is always good... Sting not facing Stasiak is bad...

However, this show is proof that we don't need to write epicly long shows to have an enjoyable read; Sammeh you this format to the best of it's abilities and I loved the show; was shocked to see Christian beat Stasiak but I like thoughts behind it.

Really curious to see where next week goes, especially for Sting/ Misawa/ Kobashi! Go EoR's team!
