  • I don't know how Uncharted 3 managed to be the exception, that game is just fucking flawless and I don't know how they did it, there were problems in 1 and 2 but not 3, the best...everything in that series. A rare exception.

Now I just expect any third game to get fucked up based on this Mass Effect debacle.
You know, I almost feel like they deliberately gave us a shitty ending just so we'd all band together and beg for a new one. I don't think that was their intention but if they honestly gave us crap thinking that they'd have the opportunity to get people to pay for a new ending they're fucking geniuses. Assholes, but geniuses nonetheless.

But I don't think that's what they went for, but they have a golden opportunity here to cash in. I knew they'd screw it up, I just KNEW, somehow, someway, they'd screw it up. If you remember I said I was worried about the third game because third games always have something wrong with them. God of War III, Assassins Creed: Revelations (I know it's the fourth game but it's the third in the Ezio trilogy), Gears of War III, all huge disappointments in either the ending or the whole game, one or the other. I subscribe to that theory more than ever now, if they can fuck up Mass Effect they can fuck up ANYTHING.
Check this out, it's an amazing article on the ending of Mass Effect. You're gonna want to blow this guy after you finish reading. He hits everything on the head with precision.

Mass Effect 3 Ending-Hatred: 5 Reasons The Fans Are Right | GameFront
As for Aliens, I'm really not a sci-fi fan, I just like Mass Effect and to a degree Star Wars. Any other sci-fi I've looked at, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, etc, I don't like at all. Maybe Aliens is different, and maybe I'll look at it some day but not right now when my attention is pre-occupied with finishing some tv shows.

I don't even want to read somebody elses ending, it'll probably make me want to blow my brains out that they weren't writing it if it's any good.
I agree that the rest of the game is amazing. The only complaints I have about the rest is that I really wanted to see Palaven. Not one of the moons of Palaven, actually Palaven itself, I also wanted to see Thessia before the Reapers leveled it. Maybe the Reapers leveling it should've happened mid level while you were actually there. I'm also disappointed that they did nothing about the whole Aria taking back Omega from Cerberus story that they just mentioned in passing. Looking at how the ending is, I understand why they didn't take the effort to do that, since the relays get destroyed anyway, but fuck, it should've happened.
I agree, it's unforgivable that Drew just left and allowed his story to be ruined by an amazingly ridiculous ending that is now going to be how the series is remembered. All the rest of the 80/90 + hours people poured into these games and the only legacy the series will have is "LOL HERE'S 3 IDENTICAL POORLY WRITTEN ENDINGS THAT ARE IN COMPLETE CONTRAST TO THE REST OF THE SERIES HERPA DERP DERP" :fp:

Hell, I don't care if the ending was plain as hell where you simply destroyed the Reapers and everything went back to normal, no groundbreaking revelations, no nothing, just a plain, regular cliché ending where everybody lives happily ever fucking after, I would've been completely happy with that. In fact, that's what I'm going to imagine in my head, as I turn the game off right after the Illusive Man dies.
In fact, it's so bad, it's almost killed my desire to play the series. I'm not totally there, but I'm less interested in playing 3 since I saw that disgusting ending. I'll still do it because I love the rest of the game too much, but man, I'm bummed out. Maybe I just need more time to deal with it.
I'm assuming nobody does get back home, since the relays are destroyed. Which is an incredible bag of shit. The entire ending makes no sense, it's got plotholes, bad writing, and all 3 endings are terribly unsatisfying, not to mention virtually identical. I pray to God they come out with some DLC that either changes the ending or makes sense of it because I don't want the series to be defined by the lackluster ending. It almost feels like they have to be coming out with something because I find it hard to believe that in 5 years, they release 3 games with more material than you could ever imagine needing, all of said material has absolutely nothing wrong with it, and then they choke on the last 5 (or 10, I don't know, everything after the Anderson/Illusive Man confrontation is a mess) minutes. It defies logic.
I haven't watched the Star Wars trilogy in a good year or two, I may have to watch Empire again to see the similiarities. I'll take your word on Alien, I have no desire to see that film. Not because I think I wouldn't like it or whatever, I just don't fucking want to, lol.
I'm not active on any ME forums, no, and I'm hardly in touch with the community. I just occassionally read the Mass Effect section of the Bioware forum. I'm assuming you have to romance Tali to see her face, because I didn't get it in my game, but you do see her unmasked. But you don't see her take it off, they kinda cheaped out and you only see what she looks like in a picture that Shepard looks at. The person the picture is of is human, it's a real picture, not a specifically made one for the game. I'm not sure if it's the actress who plays her or if they just took the image from somewhere or what, but it proves that Quarians have a humanoid appearance, at least facially.
As for Insanity, I don't know why anyone would even want to attempt that. I tried it in 2 and the headache is absolutely not worth the useless achievements that do nothing for your game, if you're lucky enough to get them. I could understand if you got a new character for beating a game on Insanity or something, but it's totally not worth it.
I used to use the Revenant but now I've stuck with the particle rifle. Unlimited ammo, no need to even worry about clips. I still don't usually take my squad based on their powers, but I've started taking Liara on Cerberus missions out of necessity, since singularity is the only way I can fight those shields. Otherwise, I'm stuck trying to aim for a spot of their body that they take out of cover for a second, which sucks ass. I should've checked if I could get singularity as a bonus power, but I was too focused on just getting to the ending. Needless to say, on my next playthrough, the ending is the absolute LAST thing I want to see. In fact, I might just shut the system down once the Illusive Man dies. I don't know if I even want to see beyond that again.
I shouldn't think like that but when so many games I love, including my favourite screw up the ending, wow. It's not just me either, the entire ME community is OUTRAGED and have placed a petition on Bioware's forum demanding a new ending via either a patch or DLC, and frankly, I'm with them. It's just insane how many people are mad, I haven't seen a group of people this pissed off since they cancelled Family Guy.

I didn't catch the Empire Strikes Back reference, what was it? I haven't seen it in so long, and I've never watched Alien or Metropolis, so whatever on those two.
I'll give multiplayer a run when I can get it, I have to get the game on PS3 first and I have no idea when I'll be able to do that.

I read something that said that the hologram boy was just The Catalyst speaking in the form of the little boy, but that doesn't help me understand the ending any better, it's still a giant mindfuck. Not having the same writer might be the problem of why they "God of War 3'd" the ending, which is exactly what I feared would happen. But it makes me wonder why the rest of the game didn't have that problem. 3 was certainly more along the lines of ME 2 than ME 1, by far, and that was much better written. 1 is still easily the weakest in the series. For some reason, endings to series's are impossible to get right. When even Mass Effect has that problem, it really makes me lose faith in gaming. Now I will never believe a series will end right. This has already convinced me that AC III's ending is going to suck ass before I even know anything about the game.
