If anything, how's THAT the awkward one of the two name changes?
While I don't believe this was his intent, it's probably because his move isn't really an STF, but really an STS.

Like I said, I don't think HE meant it that way, but it is true.

Picture them screaming "Throwback" when he hits the FU. It seems fucking stupid, as he isn't throwing him back at all, and basically, just doesnt suit it.

Exactly. Just picture JR saying this:

'...oh my god, oh my god, John Cena has him lifted up for the Throwback... here he goes tazz, AND THERE IT IS! the Throwback Tazz! And he goes for the pin.. 1..2..3"

sounds absolutely horrible tbh :disgust1:

So hang on a minute... The move formerly known as the STFU (refered to in WWE in relation to other wrestlers as a Stepover Crossface or STF) is in fact an STS....

What the fuck do these initials actually stand for???? LOL

Haha, no idea, you'd have to ask Joey Styles, I believe he was the one who named it.

But, if you watch Cena apply it, it's clearly a sleeper, not a facelock.

I don't know if it's the merchandise cash they make from all the kids that buy the merchandise, or if it's external pressure from the media/some other segment of society that's making the WWE "PG" these days. I'd rather they go back to the raunchy 100 mile an hour Attitude Era though.

@ Sly & MS: I just had that down to Cena 'adopting' the move incorrectly and no-one ever pulling him up on it!

Learn something new every day etc.

Stepover Toehold Facelock and Stepover Toehold Sleeper. I kinda figured the T, F, and second S, but I had to look it up for the first S.

Thats one of the reasons why everyday, my passion for wrestling is dying, FU for trowback its so gay, I loved the fact that FU means FUCK YOU it was the perfect name for a finisher and STFU was the same. I guess I've to change my msn coz I've the FU coz cena's finisher. Its funny how 8 years ago we used to see middle fingers, drinking beers SOB, bra and panties, jericho's jokes about steph tits and bad words. But know the wwe is so gay, seriusly im starting to lose my passion for wrestling, I guess my only real passion is football(soccer in the us).

Wrestling has always been family entertainment.... The Attitude era was a exception in desperate times.

There's always gonna be things that could have been done better - This is effectively a live soap opera where the performers run risk of injury every night - but for what it's worth, the quality and depth of the WWE right now is, in some cases, as good as it's EVER been.

The only thing I think is particularly conspicuous by it's absence is a guy that EVERYBODY wants to get behind (like Austin), but IMO those days of such guys are gone.

It's the fact that the Attitude Era sucked as wrestling era, and merely was successful because it capitalized on the culture that was created with shows like Married with Children and Jerry Springer. The Attitude Era was successful because it was shocking and things we had never seen before. But, you can only do that for so long until the shocking is no longer shocking, and you've seen it all before.

The match quality was generally terrible in the Attitude Era, and the storylines, outside of the main-event were awful. I mean, D'Lo picking up tampons? Goldust dressing as a masochistic submissive? Val Venis getting his penis chopped off? Just stupid, and things that would be completely ridiculed today. Don't believe me? Take the Vince McMahon death angle and illegitimate son angles. Those were two things that SCREAMED Attitude, and the IWC did nothing but piss on it.

The Attitude Era was successful because of Steve Austin, The Rock, and shock TV. Austin left, Rock left, and things no longer were shocking. That's why the Attitude Era died, and rightfully buried. There's no coincidence that ratings TANKED in 2002 and 2003.

Most people do. One of my favorite comments would be "Cena doesn't know wrestling. He can't even apply the STF correctly". It was my favorite because I would correct them, at the same time they show THEIR ignorance of wrestling knowledge.

It's just another example of how the IWC doesn't know as much as they think they do. At least some people, like yourself, are willing to admit they can learn things.
Its funny how 8 years ago we used to see middle fingers, drinking beers SOB, bra and panties, jericho's jokes about steph tits and bad words.
I know.

Thank God it's not like that anymore, and can be about professional wrestling and not lame shock TV.

I agree with your thoughts on the Attitude Era, and the quality of the WWE right now. I said years ago that at some point we'd get to this level, and we have.

I DO disagree with your assessment of the guy everyone wants to get behind. We have that, and his name is John Cena. And in the next 2 or 3 years, you'll see that Cena will be the undisputed king of wrestling, and ratings will flourish, as will business.

Cena went through that period where "older" fans hated him. Well, many of those older fans have either quit watching wrestling, or learned to respect him, if not for his in-ring work, certainly for his overall work ethic. But, the children that Cena has attracted since he first started are now becoming older and they are BIG fans of Cena. I see it in the school I work at, how more and more people are Cena fans.

And over the next couple of years, Cena will continue to create more and more new fans, and then ratings will continue to rise.

It's just a long process that can't be hurried. By the time Cena is 36 or 37, barring injury or other developments, you will see a lot of prosperity in the WWE. Keep in mind, that Cena, in the midst of a depression, brought in more money in merchandise in 2008, a year in which he was injured for part of, than anyone else in WWE history, excluding Austin and Hogan. That's VERY impressive, and a great sign. When the worldwide, and more importantly the US, economy starts to recover, and all those fans I talked about earlier begin to really get into wrestling, you're going to see good times for the WWE.

So they'll eliminate derogatory-type names of moves yet keep fucking whores with their tits and asses hanging out as opposed to creating outfits for them that cover them up a bit more?

Great job, WWE!

To be fair, most of the women now are covered a lot more than they used to. Both Mickie and Meline wear tights instead of skirts, for example. I would even go so far as to say you could probably see more skin from a two piece swim suit than you do on WWE Divas.

This is why I want to either destroy the Divas division or completely overhaul it with an import of about 5 or 6 Japanese/Mexican female wrestlers that can actually wrestle. That way, all the females wouldn't be marketed strictly for T and A and wouldn't all be wearing stripper clothing to wrestle in.
