Hockey Night in Canada, the creme de la creme of hockey on TV and a treasure of this sport, will air this season not only on the great CBC, but the NHL Network as well in America. Any of you who are fortunate enough to know the joy of watching this incredible broadcast know, and to all others you are in for a treat! A true treat.

Hockey Night in Canada is Sports on TV's version of Art.

Every Saturday night, NHL Network will not only broadcast
the live Hockey Night In Canada double-header, but also the CBC pre-game

And yes of course, the best few minutes in all of hockey punditry...Don Cherry's "Coach's Corner."

Regular-season coverage on NHL Network gets underway in the U.S. on
Saturday, Oct. 4 when the New York Rangers take on the Tampa Bay Lightning
in Prague, Czech Republic and the Ottawa Senators and Pittsburgh Penguins
meet in Stockholm, Sweden, in the Bridgestone NHL Premiere 2008™.

Additional highlights for the 2008-09 NHL broadcast schedule include:

26 double-headers and 1 triple-header
17 Wednesday-night games featuring TSN’s broadcast of Wednesday Night
Hockey
5 games featuring the Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings

2 games featuring the Washington Capitals and last season’s Hart Trophy

“NHL Network is an important platform in super-serving our fans with
the hockey content they demand, 24 hours a day,” said John Shannon, NHL
Executive Vice President of Broadcasting and Programming. “With
top-quality production of marquee match-ups on a consistent schedule, in
addition to new original programming, NHL Network is creating appointment
television for hockey fans nationwide.”

NHL Network is the first 24-hour network dedicated to the National
Hockey League with unprecedented access to the most comprehensive hockey
coverage both on and off the ice. In addition to live NHL games, NHL
Network will broadcast live college hockey and the Memorial Cup. The
network also airs post-game press conferences, special event programming
on-location from NHL events such as NHL Winter Classic™, NHL All-Star
weekend, NHL Entry Draft and the Stanley Cup™ Final and its signature daily
live highlight show – NHL on the Fly – which airs nightly throughout the
hockey season.

NHL Network is now accessible to more than 80 million homes through
all of its carriage arrangements, including those with Cablevision, Charter
Communications, Comcast, Cox Communications, DIRECTV, DISH Network® and
Time Warner Cable. NHL Network launched in the U.S in October of 2007 and

^I heard they named Drury captain?

Speaking of which, the Leafs announced their captains today
Seeing as Sundin is nowhere to be found, they named 5 alternate captains: Pavel Kubina, Tomas Kaberle, Nik Antropov, Dominic Moore and Jamal Mayers...

The choices of Kaberle and Kubina were obvious (Kubina was my choice for captain), and Antropov is a somewhat obvious choice too. Mayers and Moore surprised me though. Both are 4th line players, but I guess they are leaders with their hard work, physical play, etc, so good choices.

Season starts tommorow:)
Leaf game followed by Flames game on Hockey Night in Canada, so I can't wait.

First official game tommorow for the Avs! Hell yes, they did good in preseason so I can't see them losing this one. Bruins, you're going down.

Woo! Game tonight
It's in detroit, and it should be a good game, and I have a feeling it will e a pretty close game. should be fun.
And lol, I heard Sarah Palin is dropping the puck in the ceremonial faceoff on Saturday night in Philly. I can't wait for Philly fans (although I hate them) boo her off the ice, lol.

Great game by the leafs. They beat the Wings (Stanley cup champs) 3-2.
Now, I'm not gonna get ahead of myself about how good they will be, but they played a hell of a game, and have much better defense, faster, tougher and a great goalie. It just depends if we can score. See where it goes from here, but good game Leafs! Next up: Flames game.

DEVILS WIN! DEVILS WIN! We beat the Penguins tonight!! 2-1 on OT, it was an awesome game!

Devils were down 1-0 the entire game, but then late in the 3rd Patrick Elias gets a lucky goal (he earned it though) after a sharp angle shot hits off a Pens defenceman. So its tied 1-1, but then came OT. In the final minute, a BEAUTIFUL pass from Zajac, all the way down the ice to Zach Parise and BOOM! The ZACH ATTACK! Parse lifts the puck over the shoulder of Fleury to give us the victory!!!

Devils got 48 fucking shots on net, compared to the Penguins' 14. What a game, and what a win for the New Jersey Devils!

Ha Red Wings win. I haven't been much into NHL since like years before I joined IWF. But I'm finally starting to get balls deep into it again. Watched both Wings games so far. Hell I might try and catch everyone if I can.

That was a shameful performance by the leafs. Embarrasing for me, but who cares. Just like noone should get carried away that they beat Detroit, noone should get carried away they lost to Montreal. However, that was still a pretty bad game.

Not so much a shameful showing by the Leafs as much as it was a masterful demonstration of Montreal's offense. Particularly their power play.
