Zach Makovsky vs. Josh Sampo promoted to UFC 170's televised prelims
A flyweight bout between Josh Sampo (11-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and Zach Makovsky (17-4 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will no longer be stuck on the online preliminary card and instead will kick off the televised portion of this month’s UFC 170 event.
Following some recent card shuffling and a fight cancellation, Sampo vs. Makovsky has been promoted from the UFC Fight Pass preliminary card to the FOX Sports 1-televised prelims.
UFC 170 takes place Feb. 22 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view.
The FOX Sports 1 slot is completely justified for surging Sampo and ex-Bellator champ Makovsky, who are respectively ranked No. 11 and No. 13 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA flyweight rankings. The winner will take a big step toward a UFC title shot.
Although Raphael Assuncao still awaits a replacement opponent, UFC 170′s fight card is otherwise official with 11 total bouts.
The latest UFC 170 card includes:
MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view, 10 p.m. ET)
