Yves Jabouin vs. Eddie Wineland booked for January’s UFC on FOX 10 prelims
A bantamweight matchup between Canadian Yves Jabouin (19-8 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and recent interim bantamweight title challenger Eddie Wineland (20-9-1 MMA, 2-3 UFC) has been added to next month’s “UFC on FOX 10: Henderson vs. Thomson†event.
The contest was first reported by the Chicago Sun-Times, and MMAjunkie has since confirmed the booking with sources close to the fighters.
Featuring a lightweight headliner between former champ Benson Henderson and top contender Josh Thomson, UFC on FOX 10 takes place Jan. 25 at Chicago’s United Center. The evening’s main card airs on FOX. Jabouin vs. Wineland is expected to take place on the evening’s FOX Sports 1-broadcast prelims.
UFC execs have yet to announce the new matchup.
Jabouin fought most recently in June, earning a hard-fought split-decision win. No stranger to tightly contested affairs, “Tiger†is now 4-1 in his past five UFC appearances, though three of those came by split decision.
Meanwhile, Wineland earned a shot a shot at UFC interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao on the strength of consecutive wins over Brad Pickett and Scott Jorgensen. However, he was handed a second-round TKO loss by the Brazilian and now looks to rebound against Jabouin.
